Singletary may be close and misses the cut, but there are a lot of running backs who are better than Singletary. To use a phrase that got me in trouble when talking about receivers, good (not Hall-of-Fame good but good) running backs are a dime a dozen, not $180 million (which is a dozen running backs at $15 million apiece.) Dobbins contract with the Broncos is for $2.75M Quote

I don't like paying running backs unless they are one of the handful of elite ones that you would really be foolish to let leave. James Cook isn't one of those guys. He is a tier below. The fact that there is a huge contingent of the fanbase that believes that PROVES he isn't one of those guys. Otherwise, we'd all be clamoring to keep him. They really should’ve took the money they gave WR Palmer and just gave it to Cook. I’m not a fan of paying RBs either, but Buffalo is in “win now” mode. I don’t want to waste another Josh Allen prime year by starting a player like Ray Davis who MIGHT be a suitable replacement. The Bills need to go into 2025 with every possible weapon at their disposal. A 1000+ yard/18 TD RB is not as easy of a replacement as some people think. If we were a rebuilding team then I would be all for letting Cook walk. 1 1 Quote

But the Singletary class there are guys after him who have had some production in the league: Damien Harris, Justice Hill, Tony Pollard, Myles Gaskin our own "best 3rd down back in football" Ty Johnson. And then the next two drafts after the Moss draft... Khalil Herbert, Kenneth Gainwell, Chuba Hubbard, Rhamondre Stevenson, Isiah Pacheco, Kyren Williams, Dameon Pierce, Tyler Allgeier etc.... If you are spending a day 2 pick on a guy you better be getting me a guy who is a cut above that company. And Singletary and Moss were not and never had the skillsets to be. Did you read what you just wrote or what I wrote? Singletary is MILES above guys like Damien Harris (out of football), Justice Hill, and Myles Gaskin(13 carries in the last 3 years). Which one of those guys would you have preferred? In 2020 when the bills drafted Moss, you could have had your pick of: Darrynton Evans Joshua Kelley Lamical Perine Anthony McFarland DeeJay Dallas Jason HuntleyLions Eno BenjaminCardinals Raymond Calais Which one of those guys did you want? Moss has had a better career than any of them, and it's not close. For a guy that spends as much time analyzing the draft as you do, it's odd to me how unaware you are of the value of 3rd round plus RBs 7 hours ago, GunnerBill said: If you are spending a day 2 pick on a guy you better be getting me a guy who is a cut above that company. Why would you expect Beane to reliably hit on a 10% (or less) chance? 3 hours ago, ChronicAndKnuckles said: They really should’ve took the money they gave WR Palmer and just gave it to Cook. I like Palmer, but I think they grossly overpaid for him. Still, he adds value that wasn't here before. Does James Cook? Maybe they think having a Saquon/Henry type makes more sense than having a Cook type back. Edited 43 minutes ago by BullBuchanan 1 Quote
