This I could see... he is available... its week 11, we have a couple injuries at WR... I could see them pulling a Beasley/J Brown thing with him in a pinch. Outside of that... not so much...

why repeat that error?

Honestly, in that scenario, where you are pretty desperate because of injury at the very end of a season, to me there is value in getting someone that knows the offense...  at that point pickings are slim, cash is tight and the up to speed window is small... IMO this is a whole lot different than brining him back to be your number 2 guy and paying him...  this is a band aid to stop bleeding.  This is even if he is available... and wants to play...

Beasley/Brown 2.0 was a joke.   They did nothing at all.  It solidified Beane's cluelessness at recognizing when FA WRs are walking around with a fork in their backs before he signs them.

Uhm... I never said he was going to rip it up... I said I could see this happening... especially if other options are not gonna produce differently and dont know the system...  you disagree.. fine... either way signing him at the end of a season as a body that knows the system  because we are deep into injuries and options are limited isnt going to upgrade your WR or win you a superbowl...  however, I could see a move like this being made in that scenario... lets hope we dont have to find out.  Oh, and I agree with you... Beane is no WR Savant...

Has Beane learned from those past mistakes now?

Coleman 21 y/o

Shakir 25 y/o

Palmer 25 y/o

Moore 25 y/o
Kincad 25 y/o

Samuel 28 y/o

Injuries happen and never sure who Beane would bring in if a WR is needed mid season. Hope here is with the young pass catchers they would be less prone to picking up a long term injury.

We've got a decent amount of bodies going into camp.  Heres the depth chart projections as of now:

image.thumb.png.4fa9fdfcf7fb72b7f289597dd6b979d1.png

There will be serious competition for every WR Spot that isnt Shakir's.  Like any FA/draft addition, starting spots won't be given to new comers. Keon, Palmer, Samuel, somewhat Moore, Shenault, Virgil, Shavers, Hamler, Prather will all be competing for the 2 outside WR jobs.  Obviously there are some favorites to win those starting spots; but I expect it to be a real dog fight.  Quite a few guys at the bottom of WR roster that were considered projects, who have been PS long enough they need to make a real push for the 53 man, or they might not get invited back to PS even.

I expect those guys to get a legitimate shot to win a starting job. What they do with the opportunity will depend on them, and their development over the last few years.  There are essentially 9 dudes competing for 2 spots: Keon and Palmer are the favorites to win, and I hope they ball out, and give Coach no choice but to start them!  But Im especially hoping Moore, Samuel, Virgil, Shavers and Hamler help push them.  Whoever ends up the #3 outside guy, will see tons of playing time too!

Can Palmer play X? otherwise Keon at X1 with Shenault and Prather behind does not count as competition in my book. It actually looks like a gaping hole with a major question mark at X1

We would need to be hit pretty hard with injuries for the 11th week Cooper scenario to play out.. yes..

Yes, the fact that list has him as a slot is silly.  He’s an outside guy.

Yeah I don't really recall what other players that was available at that time, but I can't imagine it being anything much. So if that was the case then I can understand the reason he felt Brown/Beasley familiar in the offense was the better of all the bad options.

I think that has him listed as Z1 but point taken. Ideally I'd like to see a lot of Palmer at X, Moore at Z, and Shakir in the slot with Keon backing up at X and Samuel as the Z/Slot backup (with Keon also capable of playing big slot)
