In fairness to CoffeeforClosers, he didn't (in that post) accuse anyone of pedophilia. Here's the point to this Epstein business. For years MAGA has floated these wild conspiracy theories it used to brainwash a significant part of the populous and, more importantly, to demonize a significant part of the populous. The Epstein issue, and perhaps the Obama birther dreck, were at the center of the whole operation. Epstein arguably transcends birtherism, though. Epstein, at its core, is about elites abusing the vulnerable. My take on MAGA is that it sees itself not as those children, but as somewhat similar vulnerables who have been abused in different ways by the same elites. Whether there's validity to that is debatable. (Nobody sat there and made a lot of those people not study in school, not go to work, not eat green vegetables, and not put down the bottle, etc.). Now, in covering up this sore that festered for years and years, Trump is more easily associated with those elites. (I get that he's always been one of them, but that's besides the point.) The binders, according to MAGA, exist. The list, according to MAGA, exists. And yet the information won't be made public because, apparently after all these years, Trump discovered that it was written by Obama, Hillary, etc. Trump has been absurd for a long time, but this might be the most asinine thing he's done and the most ridiculous lie that he has told. I enjoy watching MAGA get twisted in knots figuring out how to reconcile this sort of "original sin" lie. I also hope it shatters his support. Not that I disagree with people who want a fair shot at life, and who feel like the middle class has been strip mined for decades. But so the solution to their problems isn't this dictatorial, ill-prepared, nasty doddering old fool who doesn't actually have the interests of anyone other than his own at heart.
