President Trump Signs 'Take It Down Act'

By Ward Clark

3bc63929-3120-415c-b32c-44bc91bf59d0-105

With the return of Melania Trump to the White House, we saw a return of something that the presidential residence has lacked during previous administrations: A graciousness, a style, poise and a beauty of body and spirit that's all too uncommon in political families. As first ladies do, she took on a cause, that being cyber-bullying; being married to President Trump, she has come in for no small amount of online opprobrium herself.

But she who laughs last laughs best. Melania Trump has cause at least to smile today, as during a Rose Garden ceremony on Monday, her husband, President Donald Trump, signed the "Take It Down Act" into law. And there's a twist:

Melania Trump added her signature as husband Donald signed a bill into law that she strongly campaigned for.

It was an unprecedented move for a first lady and one that showed Melania's ownership of the cause.

The new Take It Down Act provides protections for victims of revenge porn and it marked her first major legislative success.

For a first lady to add her signature is highly unusual - it is the president that signs bills into law - but Melania had championed the legislation and met with lawmakers on Capitol Hill to lobby for it.

This was an unusual and unprecedented move, and of course, the First Lady's signature carries no legal weight; her appending her signature to the act is purely ceremonial. But it's a fitting tribute to the work she did to get the act to this point.

CHANGE YOU CAN BELIEVE IN:

Secret Service, DOD, Coast Guard, Border Patrol applications surge under Trump.

In the first four months of the administration, U.S. Border Patrol received 34,650 applications, representing a 44% increase over the same four-month period in 2024, The Center Square reported. Under U.S. Border Patrol Chief Mike Banks, Texas’ first border czar, the first quarter of 2025 marks “the most successful four-month recruitment stretch in the agency’s history.”

The U.S. Coast Guard also saw a massive spike of applications after failing to meet recruiting targets every year under the Biden administration.

Since January, the Coast Guard is on track to exceed its recruitment goals by 110%, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security says. So far this fiscal year, the Coast Guard has already recruited more than 4,700 new members, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security said. Under Trump, the Coast Guard has surged resources to secure U.S. borders and is seizing record amounts of illicit drugs, The Center Square reported.

The U.S. Department of Defense is also seeing a record number of recruits. After failing to meet recruitment goals every year during the Biden administration, in February 2025, all five military services met their recruiting goals.

During an April 30, 2025, cabinet meeting, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth described what was happening as a “recruiting renaissance.”

Canada in talks with US about joining 'Golden Dome' plan

by Dharvi Vaid

Canada is conducting "high level" talks with the United States over joining President Donald Trump's proposed "Golden Dome" missile defense program, Prime Minister Mark Carney said on Wednesday. Trump announced his plans the previous day to develop the multilayered, $175 billion (€155 billion) system with ground- and space-based capabilities that can defend against a wide range of enemy weapons, like drones, hypersonic and cruise missiles, and intercontinental ballistic missiles.

The US President said he expected the missile shield to be ready by the end of his second term in 2029.

@Niagara Bill if Trump and Mark “Chillycon” Carney can consciously re-couple on the golden dome middle defense shield, can we maybe be friends again?  I think this is a sign the ice is melting between us/you after all this time apart (it’s really like long Wednesday afternoon when viewed from historical perspective).

Trumps actions do not interfere with friends, politics does.

Without a doubt,  Canada would always agree to such a proposal, because refusal leads quickly to 51st actions. There is nothing about trump Canada trusts, after all as he says he subsidizes us and Hoecstra says we are being mean.

When a gun is pointed at your head..don't argue.

This announcement means nothing, the announcement so far in the future. This is the type of announcement all dictators make. Hope I am wrong but my faith in one statement from trump does not replace all the other actions.

Not olive branch, just cover for future actions.

And there you have it .  The rest of the world hates us while holding most of our debt. No doubt much the same as trump’s private businesses.

Another Hit to the 'Deep State' as Trump and Rubio Clean House at NSC

Nick Arama

President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio are doing some serious house cleaning and a huge restructuring at the National Security Council, according to new reports.

More than 100 people were notified they were terminated on Friday, according to one report.

The NSC had ballooned to more than 300 people under Joe Biden. It now has about half that. The idea is to get it down to just a few dozen people.

They are moving some of its tasks to the State and Defense Departments, according to Axios.

The problem was "a bottom-to-the-top approach that doesn't work. It's going away," according to a senior White House official. The NSC was supposed to "coordinate and advise — not carry out — policy," another official explained.

Now it's "what the president wants, get it done," a senior official said. "It wasn't, 'Oh, let's get the sub-PCC to send it to the PCC to go to the DC to go to the PC.' "

That's how it's supposed to work. The President dictates policy, not the bureaucracy or advisers. But, likely under Biden, they had a much more prominent role. But that's how you get unelected bureaucrats who think they control things and they dictate. Now it looks like that's over.
