B-Man Posted April 1 Author Posted April 1 Trump Has Begun to Clean House at the Department of Justice by Matt Vespa President Donald J. Trump is taking a chainsaw to the Department of Justice. The unsavory elements are being cut away, and, again, this shouldn’t be a shock to anyone paying attention to the 2024 campaign. The cancerous elements that infected this institution under Joe Biden, which were weaponized to go after Trump, pro-life activists, and the January 6 defendants, will be excised. Two prosecutors were fired, with at least 50 US attorneys and their associates also being given pink slips. The latter isn’t new either—it’s customary for a new administration to pick new US attorneys. Let’s call it the Clinton protocol (via NYT) https://townhall.com/tipsheet/mattvespa/2025/03/31/trump-has-begun-to-clean-house-at-the-department-of-justice-n2654722
B-Man Posted April 2 Author Posted April 2 Trump Labor Dept Returning Over a Billion in Unspent COVID Funding to Treasury by Ward Clark A billion here, and a billion there, and pretty soon you're talking real money. We may soon approach the "real money" stage, and perhaps sooner than we thought - but then, almost everything happening with this second Trump administration is happening faster than we thought. Between the DOGE recommendations and the Cabinet members just acting on their own to cut away the dead weight, the U.S. taxpayers have already been saved a lot of money, and on Tuesday, Secretary of Labor Lori Chavez-DeRemer announced that her department would be returning over a billion dollars in unspent COVID funding to the Treasury. https://redstate.com/wardclark/2025/04/01/refund-time-trump-labor-dept-returning-over-a-billion-in-unspent-covid-funding-to-treasury-n2187390

The Frankish Reich Posted April 5 Posted April 5 Just now, JFKjr said: Enjoying your elitism, such as it is. It isn't elitism. It is common sense mixed with a bit of tough love. If your economic future depends on the return of a factory employing generally unskilled labor to your town, well, then you probably need to find a new town or develop a skill. Hmm, sounds a little like Republican philosophy? 1
The Frankish Reich Posted April 5 Posted April 5 Remember this guy, the one who scolded his left-behind community for wallowing in self-pity and looking for someone to blame for their poor life decisions? 1
Niagara Bill Posted April 5 Posted April 5 Such a very sad situation. The once great, maybe greatest country, once greatest democracy finds it self in need of a reset, particularly in financial spending and debt areas, immigration controls areas, and with all the compassion the USA has historically shown, with all the goodwill the USA has built over a century, with all the strong alliances the USA had formed in the past 150 years, the USA could not find a way of accomplishing this, discussing this, sharing this, without destroying its legacy, without punishing her friends, allies, without internal conflicts which we all know will lead to bad times, without forcing much of its population into recession, maybe depression. 70 years ago the US citizens died for Vietnam, led Vietnam into the world, presented them opportunity to be free, and now destroys them financially without so much as a discussion, without finding a mutual pac. The same people they fought beside. Rugs that the US laid, pulled without consideration of talk, or discussion or even an ultimatum. This has occurred around the globe. The threat of global recession, or depression lays at the feet of the US. Nobody disputes change, nobody disputes the present may be unsustainable, but USA leadership has found it necessary, even enjoyable, to pull that jointly laid rug, while throwing shovels of ***** onto their past friends and allies, even threats of greater actions. Sad. 1

Of course Joe Biden could have done it his way, but he was tired with a touch of dementia. (i.e. "The BEST version of Biden," per Joe Scarborough) And Kamala could have done it HER way, but she seemed to not know how to articulate that, and even went so far as to say she "wouldn't change a thing" about what the Biden/Harris administration did. Now the American people COULD have elected her, in spite of that, but they didn't. So now it's going to be Trump's way. And it won't just affect this country, it'll affect the planet as a whole. 1 1

I voted for him too but am pissed off at the moment with his incredibly stupid tariff policy that was all bark and little bit his first term in office. All he had to do was cut regulations, secure the border, extend the TCJA, and get out of the way to let the free market work its magic. 3
IrishLass Posted April 5 Posted April 5 At the end of the day it will turn out that Liberals: Despised this era's George Washington (Trump) Despised this era's Thomas Edison (Musk) And that the two men will have succeeded in making the country a better place in spite of Libnut opposition. 1

Don't care if he followed through or if he didn't. As someone else said, they'll either work or they won't, and I'm willing to wait see. Either way Trump is only getting blamed for a bad outcome no matter how it turns out. I voted for him because the border and trans insanity as things he's followed through on already. But the #1 reason I voted for him was fixing the weaponization of government, getting answers on J6, Russia collusion hoax, the assassination plots etc. This is our one and only chance over the next four years to fix these rotted, corrupt institutions. If the new FBI/DOJ/DHS fails at that and people don't go to jail for what they've done, then we're finished anyway. 1 1

Neither Biden or Harris would have attempted a reset. Not many would. It is not what, it is how. It will be the pain caused because of the method, not the direction. It is the reputation of the country. It is the good will built and now squandered. It is the leadership once unquestioned, now unwanted and unaccepted. It is the childish name calling, the threats, the pictures of tough guy Vance pointing fingers and threats at 56,800 people in Greenland. This is the way of Putin not a US President. Trump is not a leader, he is dictator. He has no desire the help heal his country's split, or lead the world. Only one thing is his mind. $$$$ 1 1

I'd rather the president be Ted Cruz or Rand Paul because they wouldn't be dumb enough to start a tariff war for no flipping reason whatsoever. 1 1 1

Every item and reason you listed I could have supported, maybe nit I the manner chosen, but definitely issues needing to be fixed. This tariff bomb will change the world, and not for the better.
