He wants to move them away from the convention's venue. Out of sight, out of mind. The Democrat mayor who supports sanctuary cities wants to build a temporary shelter close to Guaranteed Rate Field on the South Side ahead of the convention. Ald. The convention and the street action have the potential to go in a lot of different directions. But I suspect the professional demonstrators mixed in with the college crowd protesting for Palestine will not be on the payroll of the party or one of its favorite NGO's during the event. ABC 7 / Chicago Sun-Times reported the one fatal shooting occurred Saturday about 11: 30 p.m. There was an argument and two of the people involved pulled a gun and opened fire. Two men–one 50 years old and the other 44 years old–were shot, as well as a 27-year-old woman. The 44-year-old was holding a handgun but dropped it after being shot. He was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.
