Republicans leadership goes along with Trump because otherwise he will fragment the party?

Anyone watch this Frontline episode?  It says that Republican leadership support him even after they denounced him on Jan 7 because he threatened to break off the party and they want to stay in office.  Also asserts Trump is an authoritarian and his actions show he does not support democracy.  He owns the base so they either go with him or get bounced.  Behind closed doors they know the lies are just that but cannot say it publicly and they don't actually like much about him.   Truth? Fake News?  If fake news, how do you explain the flip flopping of McCarthy, McConnell, Graham?

Why are Democrats trying so hard to keep him on the front page headlines? Republicans literally don't even care about him anymore. He is yesterday's news.

The fact that Biden sucks has no direct connection to trump and it's almost like Democrats are justifying how bad of a president Biden is, by comparing his sh1tty presidency to how much they hate Trump

Nobody talks about trump except radical liberals anymore.

You guys gotta let it go and look to the future, not the past.

What a silly post.  I’m no democrat and why are there articles about trump on Fox News and newsmax right now?   If you think he is not relevant to republicans right now you are not In touch.

for a party that talks about threats to democracy they don't mind trying to subvert it themselves.

for a party so concerned about trump and the terrorists of ULTRA MAGA!!!! they certainly don't mind funding it to victory.

Do you understand that Trump's mere existence riles up the Dem base? Why do you think the J6 hearings are happening right now and not a at the end of 2021?  He is their favorite boogeyman, like AOC and Hillary is to the right.

Where even is "republican leadership going with trump"? He's toxic, republicans, conservatives don't want the circus surrounding him. The point of my post was that republican leadership IS NOT going with trump. The media and the liberal progressives are just so fixated on him that he's constantly in the news.

Just because he's in the news for manufactured issues like the raid on mar-a-lago and the January 6th, both of which are only being perpetuated in the liberal media, dosent mean the republican party is going along with him.

He's toxic and he's old news.

Let it freakin go. For gods sake

Less than three months from the midterm elections, a new USA Today/Ipsos poll finds that former President Trump continues to be seen as the head of the Republican party, as a majority of Republican voters[1] believe that he can win the next presidential election and should be the party’s nominee in 2024.

Looks like the Frontline episode about political intrigue is potentially do devastating to the world order that it had to be deep-sixed.  Just as well, it’s hard enough for me to listen to PBS political speak on the radio.

I’ll offer the following based on your recap:

R establishment leadership wanted noticing to do with Trump until he won, rode the wave with/re to power brokering and fund raising while he was in office, and moved on when he was out.  If Frontline (what an inspired and creative name) felt R establishment leadership ever “liked” Trump, they haven’t paid attention.

As for the deep dark secret that Trump is an authoritarian and Rs are deeply concerned about a fractured party, it sounds like Frontline is trying to gin up some phony controversy to appeal to its base.  Trump was elected in a populist movement because enough people were tired of the same old R leadership.  “Oh, gee, look.  HW was president.  That must make his son presidential. When he’s done, maybe W has a brother?”.  In fact, maybe some day the grandchildren of the Clinton’s can marry kin of a Bush?

What you describe as flip flopping is simply politicians politicking.

I’d wouldn’t call it Fake News.  Russian collusion was Fake News.  Speculating about rifts in the family and what might be happening behind closed doors  It seems more akin to a story in People magazine about the private pain and family drama of one of the Real Housewives of Bev Hills.
