It's Time to Mandate Vaccines

Aren't others, elder and people at risk already protected by their vaccinations/boosters?

Protected, yes in part, for those who have the awareness and ability to get it. But they remain at risk.

But sure, let's keep debating the merits of getting vaccinated because that's helpful.

Benefits>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>risks

For individuals and society.

On another note, for people who say it doesn't work and boosters prove it:

Anecdotal story today: We had our first break through case at the office this week. We’ve had zero issues in well over a year. Everyone on the team is vaccinated and yet one of my staff got it from his adult live-in son and now he’s been sent home where he, his wife and son all have a severe case of the virus. Another staff member, also vaccinated, just tested positive. So…now I had to send my entire team home to get tested and quarantine. I’ll keep you posted.

Good thoughts from here Deek.

We are not here to debate the risks vs rewards of vaccination.  It's the need to mandate it or lose your livelihood.   But you knew that.

You think they won’t be shutting stuff down and enacting mandates into the winter rise? I suspect it’s coming.

NE states spiking up. Did the same last year too. Hopefully people got vaxxed and boosted.

And this dynamic lasts for?

15 days?

Till we're at a magic vaccinated Percentage that does nothing?

Herd immunity is a term that has been eliminated from the conversation.  Is there anyone left that still believes a 100% level of vaccination will stop the virus?  That might work if the vaccine was durable and the virus was stable but neither of those things is true.  It wears off over time and leave the "vaccinated" no better off than the un-vaccinated.

It appears a more complex prevention/treatment/vaccination response is required.  I'll leave it to the experts to figure that out but their singular obsession with vaccination of everyone for perpetuity looks like a fail.  It time to a) admit to the limits of medical science, 2) get a better plan.

Huh?

This thread has many times debated the effectiveness of vaccines.

No need to be a douche.

BTW, get vaccinated and boosted.

In England they will likely change the definition of "vaccinated" to mean three shots by Christmas. It is amazing how many debunked and conspiracy theories are true less than a year after they were "crazy".

How is it a conspiracy that boosting helps waning immunity?

New data leads to new conclusions.

But the key here is to base the conclusions on data.

The virus is mutating slowly. Vaccines absolutely can get way out ahead of this with higher uptake.

So being against a mandating a vaccine makes me a douche.

If you like we can also debate the effectiveness of birth control.   How many lives have been ruined by unwanted pregnancies?  How messed up is the world due to overpopulation.  Soooo, shall we mandate birth control?

Why do you concern yourself so much with my vaccination status.  Do you even know my vaccination status?

Hey remember when some nut job on here went ballistic calling everyone stupid for talking about the vaccine waning?

Hey remember when there was no waning data? Because when I remember booster discussions in August, it was around waning Tiger data for older and at risk people only. And that’s the only group it made sense to boost because it gave a nice bump. Now we know the boosters give a fantastic bump to everyone.

The best use of vaccine would of course to get everyone vaccinated.

i remember a guy saying the vaccine didn’t work for most people past 6 months. Then he said he was wrong.

Link me to my pro mandate post.

You posted something douchey. Your position on mandates has nothing to do with it.

Get vaccinated and boosted.

You have over 300 posts in a thread about mandating vaccines and a i think it's safe to say a vast majority of them are talking about the value of vaccines.  Sorry I put two and two together and came up with you pushing mandates.

I posted something douchey?  Sorry......I didn't mean to hurt you fragile feelings.

Why do you care about my vaccination status?

An Open Letter to the Parents Who Are Waiting to Vaccinate Their Kids

Getting your shot is an incredible feeling. One of our kids, a 6-year-old, got his first dose last week. "I'm excited to be protected from COVID," he told the nurse in his sweet, brave voice. "It's the best thing I've ever done," he told his father later that day. Another one of our children told his mother that the day he got his shot was "the second most important day of my life, after the day I was born."

So, what are you waiting for? Make your appointment today. Let's end this thing together.

Sincerely,

The editors of BDG's Parenting Portfolio,Scary Mommy, Romper, Fatherly, and The Dad

That's my way of saying I had a very accurate assumption of what your motive was here.

You still have not answered my question as to why you give two ***** about my vaccination status.

Demented Biden continues to botch the pandemic.  I got my second Pfizer shot on 4/14/21.  Seven months ago.  Demented Biden guidance is that you should get a booster six months after your second shot.  Unfortunately, I am 56 years old and the booster is not available to me at my age. Only sixty-five or older.   What a Mess.

Nope.

Provide the link to me advocating vaccine mandates.

Or admit you are either wrong or a liar. Seems like you incline towards liar.

Give me a break. You can go to CVS and get a booster. Biden ain’t stopping you and as of next week, you don’t even have to click boxes to get the booster at CVS.

Your inclination is very wrong.  But go ahead with your assumptions.

Add that to your assumption of my vaccination status.

Why do you keep begging me to get vaxxed?  Maybe if there was a mandate you'd stop with your concern for my health.

So we are left with this brilliant argument:

- COVID vaccines work, but they're not "durable" and the virus mutates. (Yet somehow we just know that the non-durable vaccine will have all sorts of durable side effects that will weirdly emerge after a year, or two, or three, or more)

- this means you will probably need to get a booster after some period of time (6 months is the current ballpark number)

- vaccines will probably not completely eradicate COVID-19 because it mutates, so why even bother?

This bears a striking resemblance to Keynes's famous quote (about whether continuing fiscal stimulus is sustainable "in the long run"): "In the long run we'll all be dead."

Yep, it's not perfect! It doesn't last forever!! Selfish COVID may still find a way to mutate and survive!!! Well, I'm convinced. We should just give up. Since when was "just give up" an American value?

Transport yourself back to March 2020. If someone told you "I'm working on a vaccine that in very preliminary trials shows 90-95% effectiveness at preventing severe disease or death provided you take it every 6 months." Who wouldn't have been satisfied with that? Who wouldn't be today? This is still astoundingly good news, but some people just have a desire to be negative about everything.

So those are our options?  Mandate a vaccine or give up?   Good lord.

I read or heard somewhere recently that the CDC suggests the J&J booster 60 days after the initial dose.

Crazy.
