If anyone is in doubt about whether liberal teachers are introducing poisonous, racist and anti-American doctrines into our schools, all you have to do is look at New Business Item 39, which was adopted during last Summer’s annual meeting of the National Education Association, the corrupt teachers’ union that dominates public education in the U.S.

 

This is where the left wants to take education. The professional formation of teachers includes embracing a harmful and divisive ideology that explicitly rejects rationality and objectivity. The theory has moved from an obscure academic concept to very troubling practices that focus on race essentialism, collective guilt, and neo-segregation. All of which violate the most basic principles of equality and justice.

 

It is long past time for the Left to emerge from hiding and publicly defend its commitment to the racist, anti-American doctrines of Critical Race Theory. Let’s hope we can have the debate before it is too late.

The NEA will, with guidance on implementation from the NEA president and chairs of the Ethnic Minority Affairs Caucuses:

 

A. Share and publicize, through existing channels, information already available on critical race theory (CRT) — what it is and what it is not; have a team of staffers for members who want to learn more and fight back against anti-CRT rhetoric; and share information with other NEA members as well as their community members.

 

B. Provide an already-created, in-depth, study that critiques empire, white supremacy, anti-Blackness, anti-Indigeneity, racism, patriarchy, cisheteropatriarchy, capitalism, ableism, anthropocentrism, and other forms of power and oppression at the intersections of our society, and that we oppose attempts to ban critical race theory and/or The 1619 Project.

 

C. Publicly (through existing media) convey its support for the accurate and honest teaching of social studies topics, including truthful and age-appropriate accountings of unpleasant aspects of American history, such as slavery, and the oppression and discrimination of Indigenous, Black, Brown, and other peoples of color, as well as the continued impact this history has on our current society. The Association will further convey that in teaching these topics, it is reasonable and appropriate for curriculum to be informed by academic frameworks for understanding and interpreting the impact of the past on current society, including critical race theory.

 

D. Join with Black Lives Matter at School and the Zinn Education Project to call for a rally this year on October 14—George Floyd’s birthday—as a national day of action to teach lessons about structural racism and oppression—even in places where it is illegal and requires civil disobedience. Followed by additional days of action that recognize and honor lives taken such as Breonna Taylor, Philando Castile, and others. The National Education Association shall publicize these National Days of Action to all its members, including in NEA Today.

 

E. Conduct a listening tour that will educate members on the tools and resources needed to defend honesty in education including but not limited to tools like CRT.

 

F. Commit President Becky Pringle to make public statements across all lines of media that support racial honesty in education including but not limited to critical race theory.

i am subbing today.  no signs of CRT to report.  i would estimate 75% of the kids are maskless today, i was worried because it was about 25% the first week that the parents were allowed to opt out.

im in Virginia.  today i subbed elementary PE.  to update my mask findings:  its seemed the older kids (2nd-5th) were 75% maskeless but the K and 1st graders were 75% masked.  also, a 2nd grade girl was wearing a shirt that had emojis wearing masks but interestingly she wasnt masked.

Not clear to me how this response has any relevance to my comment.  If you're supporting the lefts position that parents just need to shut up and let the experts teach their children whatever they please I think events to date indicate that is just not going to happen.  Taking that approach to the situation is a losing proposition and while I'll give the woke extremists in education a passing grade for persistence they just don't comprehend they're going to get thrashed on this one if they continue to push.  No matter how many pathetic cries for help they might make to the DOJ and the FBI about terrorist parents this battle is going to be lost.

Isn’t it interesting how the Left screamed for cameras on police officers but then opposes them on teachers?  Both are public employees working essentially unsupervised.

And good comparison.  I’ve always felt body cams were a great step in police reform.

Teachers have always taught the curriculum without much parental input and for the most part it has worked.

Now, we've got some ignorant parents who think they know better. They want certain books banned because it bothers them. Some want to burn books. Can you think of any other times in history where books were banned and burned? How did that work out?

It's a step towards totalitarianism.

They banned Maus partially because the animals in the graphics were naked. If you think that people like this should be involved in their chidren's education, you're as stupid as them.

We have entered an age where some people also believe bloggers are smarter than scientists. If it wasn't so tragic it would be funny.

When you have your President suggesting that the injection of bleach might be a good idea or that horse medication is a better treatment for humans than a vaccine that has proven to be effective, you are saying that everyone has an equal opinion when it comes to science. You would have laughed at that notion just a few years ago.

Now, if you choose not to get vaccinated, it's been established that you are approximately 30 times more likely to die of COVID. Personally, I don't care.

It's a great example of Darwinism.

So, yeah, I don't want absolute morons deciding what should be taught in school. If they are successful in their attempts, it will make for an even more ignorant citizenry. I suppose that will be looked upon as a roaring success by your team, but we're not interested in our kids being dragged down to your kids' levels.
