The religious leaders of that time submitted him for prosecution because they were pissed off and calling him out on blasphemy among other things. So yeah those dudes were very much responsible. The Romans were more than happy to oblige for a variety of well documented reasons. I, nor any sane person, holds Judaism or modern day Jews (or Italians for that matter) accountable for any of that.
