If you believe in a higher power - why do you need a middle man?  Never understood organized religion.

It’s not the “middle man” as much as it is the community. I don’t love the church, but I LOVE our community. A bunch of people who share beliefs and care for each other is a cool thing.

You just basically encapsulated the point of Hebrews 10:24-25.

In the case of the Catholic Church, it wasn’t just a case of predators going through the steps to get access to victims. It’s that the entire church structure knew what was going on and these moral beacons of light tried to hide it at best and enabled more of it at worst. From the Pope on down. Rotten to the core. Decade after decade after decade.

Decade?? More like centuries, its been going since the unbiblical doctrine of celibacy was instituted. Abraham Lincoln was a lawyer for a Catholic priest named Charles Chiniquy, who eventually left that church, wrote a book about how they were taught to ask very pornographic questions to the women in the confessional which eventually led to sexual encounters.

Everyone has free will to believe as they wish.  I respect that in every person who chooses to not follow, nor will I try to change anyone's opinion here.

Abuse happened, the ramifications still reverberate and there's a history going back years. St. Joseph Calasanz was incensed at this kind of child abuse in the early to mid-1600s.

I simply choose to see the Catholic Church as the best vehicle to a world without abuse and predators.  I just hope people can find peace here, which is why we say at

the Mass, "Look not on our sins but on the faith of your Church, and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will, who live and reign forever and ever."
