Spending big money on a non-qb

Not in the first round for the next 2 years.

This trade made no sense for the Bears.  Turning a top 10 D into a top 5 makes them the Tampa Bay of the NFC North, except half their cap is going to one guy and they have no ide if their QB is any good.

I just found it interesting that the bears did this when the raiders had better players at key positions and STILL LOST

It doesnt mean that Mack is not a great player and is not going to make plays....just not enough to make a difference on a bad team

If it was the easy to draft the franchise QB and male a run at the SB while he's under his 1st contract, every team would follow that model..

Landing a franchise Qb is the hard part.  You get Miami with Suh, as well.  That's the model though.  Money is finite, however home grown all pro talent should be retained if they are healthy in their prime.

How many teams in 2017 had a franchise QB, not necessarily elite or Hall of Fame material, but a dependable QB with a future?

and I’m sure injury took a few out of commission as well, but they are back this season

it’s probably a lot more than you think, after watching the Bills unable for two decades to obtain one....

What if Trubisky sucks?

You can’t stop getting other players in case your QB isn’t good. They traded up to number 2 last year for Trubisky. What if he’s great? What if he makes a year 2 leap like Wentz or Goff? If that’s the case Mack may push them over the top.

And what if Trubisky's HC turns out to be Pederson or McVay......yeah.

If he isn't the guy then you have a ton of money and picks tied up in one player who isn't going to get you more wins.
