Can't wait for McD's comments this afternoon, now that he has had a chance to "watch the tape."

Will be interested in seeing if they add anyone to the roster in light of watching game film or a QB to play on Thursday.

John Wawrow:  Did you order the code red on Josh Allen?  I repeat did you order the code red on Josh Allen?

Coach:  John, what the heck do you mean by code red?

JW:  Vladimir Ducasse one on one with Geno Atkins is akin to ordering a code red on Josh Allen, that's what I mean....sir...

Coach:  You're damn right I ordered the code red.  You want me on this sideline, you need me on this sideline.  I want Peterman.  If it means killing Allen, so be it.

Stroms off...

Unless they stink again and it looks the same.   Then the board is littered with I told you so and end of the world prophecy posts.

Based on their NFL bodys of work up until this point I would probably go with AJ week 1.  I know it's a longshot but he is basically Peterman with a little bit stronger arm and more experience.  Keeping in mind we play the Ravens week 1 Im not sure we want to expose Allen to that.

Quick Hits: No new developments on starting QB decision

Coming out of Buffalo’s third preseason game Sunday, there were no declarations made concerning the starting quarterback role from head coach Sean McDermott.

“No further quarterback developments from (Sunday). We’re still coming off the game,” he said. “A little bit unique practicing the day after and not having the day off. We’re still coming off the game and processing all that information right now.”

Bills still "working through" QB competition

Orchard Park, NY (WGR550) - The Bills went through a very light practice here Monday afternoon and to no one’s surprise head coach Sean McDermott declined to name a starting quarterback either for this Thursday’s preseason finale or the regular season opener in thirteen days.

“No further quarterback developments from last night at this point,” he told reporters prior to Monday afternoon’s practice.  “We’re still coming off the game, and again, [it is] a little bit unique [having practice] the next day and not having a day off.  So we’re still coming off the game and going through and processing all of that information right now.

“[We] want to get through this practice first and then certainly make sure we have our ducks in a row for this game and then move forward.”

All three of the team’s QBs - Josh Allen, Nathan Peterman, and A.J. McCarron - have started one preseason game.  The fourth and final game is this Thursday night at Chicago, a game where starters typically sit.  But without knowing who the regular season starter will be, and also trying to stay as healthy as possible for week one, it presents some interesting decisions for McDermott and his coaching staff.

“We’re still working through that,” the head coach said. “At the end of the day, we’ve got to make sure we’re healthy going into this season as well, so there’s a delicate balance there.”

QB, O-Line, defense: Bills have numerous concerns to address

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — The Bills’ quarterback competition is still unsettled. Their defense showed signs of looking lost in giving up a touchdown pass on the first play from scrimmage against Cincinnati.

And Buffalo’s patchwork offensive line is getting manhandled.

These are not encouraging signs less than two weeks before the Bills open the regular season at Baltimore.

“It’s a wake-up call for all of us,” center Ryan Groy said Monday, a day after the line was pushed around in giving up five sacks in the first half of a 26-13 preseason loss to the Bengals. “We couldn’t get anything going. Hurt ourselves pre-snap. Didn’t protect the quarterback. Did pretty much of everything on the do-not-do list.”

The level of concern was no different on defense after Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton burned Buffalo’s defense for 180 yards passing and two touchdowns on five series — including a 57-yarder to John Ross on the opening snap.

“We couldn’t stop them, man,” cornerback Tre’Davious White said. “We weren’t able to do anything yesterday. They were able to pick their spots and they were able to exploit them.”

As for quarterback, coach Sean McDermott is still not ready to name the Bills’ season-opening starter, never mind which of his three quarterbacks will start in Buffalo’s final preseason tuneup at Chicago on Thursday.

“No further quarterback developments,” he said.

But the majority are rightfully concerned with only a handful of chicken littles... If you take out the chronic over zealous posters you find that most are as even keeled as can be given what we have witnessed. SO proclaiming littered is an overstatement since its really a handful of posters who have to get their 30 page debates in

What to watch for in Week 4 of NFL preseason

The last week of August means it's the final chance for players to prove their 53-man roster worthiness. After a month of grueling training camps and prove-it preseason games, hundreds of players will have their NFL futures determined by how well they play over the next 60 minutes.

Week 4 ultimately determines if a player's penciled-in name on the roster is traced over in Sharpie or mercilessly erased from the ledger. With so much at stake, perhaps it's time to look at Week 4 as much more than the ugly stepchild of the preseason -- it's the ultimate game of survivor. Sure, some of the players who get cut before Saturday's 4 p.m. ET deadline will end up on practice squads, but who wants that?

With the start of the regular season a week away, all 32 teams wrap up the preseason Thursday night -- and two games will be live on NFL Network. Get the latest preseason news, updates and highlights with NFL Mobile. All times below are Eastern.

Buffalo Bills at Chicago Bears, 8 p.m.

Bills (1-2): Josh Allen's first preseason start last week is something Bills fans would like to forget and it's unclear whether he'll start against the Bears. He should see playing time as should AJ McCarron, who sat out last week because of a sore shoulder. Nathan Peterman seems to be in line for the starting job based on last week's events, but that doesn't mean he'll get Week 4 off. Hopefully, coach Sean McDermott will provide some clarity soon even if all three seem in line to make the roster. Someone who's in danger of not making the roster is Corey Coleman, who the Bills acquired earlier this month in a trade with the Browns. The former first-round pick's $3.5 million in guaranteed money could keep him in Buffalo this season.

Bears (2-2): Josh Bellamy could use a decent showing in the preseason finale to enhance his chances of making the roster. The wide receiver has had a relatively quiet preseason and has been outplayed by second-round pick Anthony Miller and Kevin White. Week 4 also should provide more clarity on who secures reserve spots at linebacker and in the secondary. Kasim Edebali has had a decent preseason and Isaiah Irving is on the bubble, too. At cornerback, Sherrick McManis and Marcus Cooper should see good amounts of playing time to prove their roster worthiness and Deon Bush is in the danger zone. Tyler Bray has one more chance to convince coach Matt Nagy he should keep three QBs on the roster. Nagy said first-round pick Roquan Smith is unlikely to play.

I can't believe they're playing the Bengals again.

Dalton must've begged Goodell for this one.

Can't get enough of those free wings.

Five Buffalo Bills positional battles to watch

With only one preseason game remaining, the Buffalo Bills have 87 players on their roster. That means that 34 of the players suiting up on Thursday against the Chicago Bears will not be with the Bills when they open the season against the Baltimore Ravens on September 9.

With every preseason, there are positional battles to be waged, won, and lost. Here are five of the battles still brewing that we’ll be watching closely as the Bills play their last exhibition game of the 2018 season.

Quarterback
Interior Offensive Line
Slot Corner/CB2
Backup Safety

QB, WR, TE still unsettled as Bills head into preseason finale

Chicago, Illinois (WGR550) - The preseason finale.  A game where starters rest and reserves hope their bubbles don’t burst.  In the Buffalo Bills' case, as they get set to take on the Chicago Bears here Thursday night, there are still several roster battles yet to be decided, maybe even including the most important one - quarterback.
