4-24: Trent Dilfer Talks 2018 Draft QBs on WGR

When I hear that I think of Shanny making an offense that RGIII excelled in as a rookie yet once he got back from injury he couldn't produce again. I'm sorry but if Lamar is another Vick, RG III or Watson  insert your favorite RPO QB here we're in trouble as those offenses eventually fail as their QB ends up injured and then when you try to protect them in the pocket they fail because they can't play a traditional offense.

Wentz?

my final QB "big 6" board:

Rosen

Mayfield

Darnold

Rudolph

Jackson

Allen

362154 . . .  Jackson is the only one where we have agreement.  Maybe you should move him to 6 just for giggles.

It was pretty tough to hear Dilfer express skepticism in the Bills' ability to develop a QB.

Funny how you give it more credence when it comes from a TV talking head.

Weak point. All talking heads are not equal.  I respect his opinion because of who he is, but ultimately he doesn't know.

Doesn't matter whether the taking heads are equal or not.  You dismiss opinions here, yet accept the same opinion from a talking head.

I dismiss opinions I disagree with regardless of the source if  I don't find them plausible or they don't make sense.

Thats because the Bills haven’t been developed a good QB for like 45 years

Kelly doesn’t count because he was developed in the USFL

Except in this case it was the same opinion expressed in two different threads, yet you dismissed one and agreed with the other.

This concern has been expressed many time on TBD.  We need to hire a qb guru.

They have Culley and Daboll who'll have to make it happen because I can't see any changes to McDermott's staff coming anytime soon.  Since it seems that drafting a QB has been the plan for quite some time, they must be comfortable with these guys.

No. All I said that is that Culley is here as the QB coach and I don't see changes coming to the staff.

So suddenly you're not as concerned with Culley and Dabol developing a QB, despite never having done so in the past?

Never mind that Dabol will need to devote more time to the offense and not just the QB

Why? everyone and their mother knows they're historically bad at it.

I took "tough to hear" as meaning "regrettable, but likely true."  One has to hope Dabol and Culley are legit, though there isn't a lot to foster optimism.

I don't know whether they can or not as neither has ever had the opportunity at the NFL level.  It's not my job to be concerned or not. You're propagating some false argument here.

we don't have anyone who can develop a QB.  they better go for the sure thing.  if they draft a "project QB" and think they will get better then they are dumb

Sure thing? Which one is that?

-The short gimmick offense guy?

-the twice concussed bratty statue guy?

-the not so strong armed turnover machine guy?

-or the inaccurate incompletion machine guy?

yes a bit of hyperbole... but there is no sure thing in the draft.

See Andrew luck draft... that was as close to a sure thing as we have seen in a very long time

But it's clearly your job to mock posters who do express the concern that the biggest investment the franchise is going to make will fall under the care of guys who have never done this job before.

Clearly you are feeling some kind of butt hurt when I did no such thing because all I pointed out was that there would be no changes to the coaching staff.  Sorry you feel aggrieved.
