Although luck has very little to do with the NFL's ruling on various catch opportunities, so maybe the Bills should just ignore luck and go yell at Al Riveron and the guys in the officiating office. Sig1Hunter Posted January 8, 2018 Share Posted January 8, 2018 I'm glad Shady is upset. The fans can be "satisfied" with the playoffs this year. There's no shame in that for us. But Shady burns for something much higher. During the game I heard them quote his updated career goals... they included 12k and a ring - and he wants to do it in Buffalo. Freaking awesome. I hope his teammates feel the same as he does. I didn't like Shady when he was in Philly, but he has quickly endeared himself to me. He's in my top 10 favorite all time Bills - maybe even top 5. It might be worth remembering, among the tooth gnashing and hair pulling, that the Jags had the #2 D in the NFL this season on points. #1 Pass D. All season. All teams. They beat teams that walloped us. It is just possible that the quality of the D we faced, not solely the Bills themselves, had something to do with the outcome. Yes, we had opportunities we failed to take advantage, as a previous poster summed up: play calls, dropped passes, open receivers. We could have won, and that stings. They also had the #1 rushing offense. I was proud of our D. They stifled Fournette. But Romo had it right - the Bills were selling out to stop him. That means they left holes, which Bortles managed to exploit occasionally enough to score 10 points. We are missing some pieces at LB and on the DL. We did a strong job without those pieces, but when Bortles broke free, that's part of what we saw. Being without Milano and losing Hyde partway through the game didn't help us. Some were predicting a blowout. That didn't happen. That isn't comforting, because of the missed opportunities, but we shouldn't take the hair pulling and tooth gnashing to the point where we forget we played a team that by a number of measures, was much stronger, and they barely squeaked one out. WATCH: BILLS SEASON ENDS IN DEFENSIVE STRUGGLE (3:12) Buffalo turned the ball over twice, and couldn't capitalize in the red zone, as they fell to the Jaguars 10-3.
