Rape is something you can never forget

Recommended Posts

Kobe admitted to having an affair with her. It was a mistake and he shouldn't be flogged for it. But settling for millions puts him in a bad light, no matter how he tries to spin this. Trying to defend him on rumor and innuendo is not wise. He will NOT come out of this without a tarnished image.

Man, I am stunned at how many people here feel like this woman is a whore. I'm equally stunned as to how many people here feel like Kobe is getting the shaft. It's easy  to suggest the woman is a whore who clearly was going after Kobe's money. But no one wants to hold Kobe accountable for poor judgement and committing adultery. The dude admits to cheating on his wife, and then buys her off with an 8 gzillion dollar ring, and all is forgiven. That is apparently okay,we can tell our kids, but the chick is a whore who forgot she got raped while standing in the teller line with a cashier's check?

I've said it before and I'll always say it: things don't happen to you...you LET things happen to you. Both of these people could have avoided this entire event. Unfortunately, everyone is so busy trying to cast blame, they forget about personal accountability.

Everyone always forgets personal accountability. Always.

Don't have any? Get some.

It’s the governments fault these people acted they way they did. They should sue the government. Accountability is not their problem. There's got to be some one else to blame here..........

His image is already tarnished.......

When I look at this situation.....I am looking much deeper then Kobe Bryant. I am deeply bothered by the lack of accountibility that LABillz speaks of and what it says as a whole.....

This whole thing has been a circus that has brought out the bad in a lot of things to the spotlight.......

- Womans activist groups......while they do serve positive roles on some things.......it has really shown me the nature of their game is grandstanding....they will not admit that they might have been incorrect as if even the possibility of them being wrong takes away from their cause....GALS.....when you discover that you are backing a bad horse...at least have the decency and common sense to say that you should have waited till ALL of the facts have come out. The other thing is the horrible gender double standard that has reared its ugly head for everyone to see.......

- The other thing is the corruptness of the District Attorney in this case....these guys are supposed to be attempting to FIND THE TRUTH.....and if they find out their client is not worthy they should be attempting to win by hook or by crook.....this friggen guy LITERALLY HID EVIDENCE that he knew would hurt his case. He also literally REFUSED to turn over evidence so that the defense could test it. and when his case started to crumble he decided that he was going to take Kobe down with him....

Kobe is no saint....I only hope that he learned a lesson and that he can keep his family together.....but in my opinion there are bigger scumbags afoot then Kobe Bryant

Hey John, it was reported that other women were ready to come forward at a civil suit. Does this mean anything to you?

I once heard a city councilman stop a back-and-forth fingerpointing session during a city council meeting say something that stays with me in most everything I try to do.

"Nevermind the storms at sea. We have to get the ship in."

There will always be a bigger scumbag waiting in the wings. At the risk of taking this to a pedestal, it would seem to me that regardless of who you want to blame for this, it's a good time to find out what your children think of it...given they can't go anywhere without hearing about it.

That's the key to me. Want to stand in judgement of what happened? Fine. But if you're a parent, do us all a favor and make an effort to stop it from happening more often.

Outside of that, blaming anyone is simply a waste of time.

Yes, they saw the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow and wanted their piece of the pie.

We do in fact talk to our kids on these issues. Leave nothing to chance that someone can insinuate about you and dont use sports hero's as role models.

I personally hope that Miss Redacted goes riding off into the sunset to buy her Koala Bear and is never heard from again....but I didn't start this rant because I wanted to blame the world I get miffed when I keep hearing how he must have done it and how in the world did he use mind powers to keep the young lady from going to Sunday School (or something resembling that)

Do you think that working in the porno industry might serve to tarnish your image of all women? Serious question.

It sounds as if you dismiss the posibility that this animal ever abused ANY woman. Is this what you think?

Seeing it from only one side tonight Steve? There's a bigger picture in this case.

And yet, we'll never know the truth. But yet some will cast aspersions for what they dont know.

We are into the "money portion" of the trial proceedings......once again...if these folks wanted JUSTICE they had their opportunity.

That is my own humble opinion

261771[/snapback]

To most (alleged) victims in rape cases when they feel that they cannot win in a criminal trial (because of evidence or money or embarrassment or whatever) the only "justice" they can get is having the accused pay with money and pay with public opinion or acknowledgement that they did it, which Kobe just did, whether it is true or not. The only other option is to just forget it and then what happens? Kobe gets away scot free and everyone thinks you were crazy and had no case.

Sorry, but the fact that the prosecution said that they dropped the case because the girl wouldn't testify, yet she was fine taking money for this is gross. If she was raped, don't you think should could at least help soceity by putting this "monster" behind bars. I mean, she got raped, right? So why in the world wouldn't she want to see him go to jail? She was just content taking his money, and an amount that wouldn't cripple him. If this was a regular joe schmoe, he wouldn't have any money for her to take. That fact alone (well, that and the fact that from the time the "rape" occured till the time she went to a hospital she had sex with someone else) really makes her look pretty frigging bad.

I see that side, but step away and look at the posibilty from her side, can you?

Thats all my point was. And with this response, it looks like you wont. Fair enough.

Yeah, my job has a ton to do with it... The millions of people who PURCHASE the porn, and pay tons of money for it wouldn't have a tranished image of women at all. (ya know, cause I'm sure YOU have never looked at porn on the internet, right? No one does. It's "everyone else" making the company i work for worth hundreds of millions of dollars).

What a retarded thing to say.

Like I've said before, I work in a beautiful office. There's no "porn" anywhere in the office. At all. I deal with Marketing. Meaning, I make sure people who are looking for porn anyway come to our site instead of another.

That being said (and hopefully the LAST time i ever have to explain that), this girls story has more issues with it than anything.

Her attorney's said they would have a case if she testified. Her rapist could be IN JAIL if she testifies. But she won't.

I am far from a prude. I was a single police officer in Midtown Manhattan. The fantasy that you market is one thing. Everybody has to make a living. Living it out was fun too. You should try it.

You have every right to think that my question (not a statement mind you) was "retarded." Otoh, it might not hurt to ask yourself exactly why you choose to support this person over a woman who, problems notwithstanding, claims to have been abused. Wasn't there also a claim of forced anal sex? How does this sit with you?

Climb higher on the smut bandwagon as you choose. I for one choose to NOT give the benefit of the doubt to this guy when there were other women standing by to testify at a civil suit.

So we differ, OK? Perhaps now you can calm the %$#^ down.

PS: No, I have never purchased porn on the internet.

Question wasn't if you purchased it. Everytime you click on "free" porn, someone makes money. Just something I thought you might like to know.

That being said, I understand your point. We can agree to disagree. But for you to make personal judgements on my stance here based on my profession would be like thinking Poojer would have a tainted view on hackers and identity theives because he works for Circuit City.

I have a strong feeling that this girl was money hungry. Am I sure? Of course not. It just seems like the super rich are huge targets, especially with the two glaring facts in this case that keep coming back up.

But please, don't think my job has anything to do with it. "Retarded" was the wrong word. And for that, I apologize.

remember when thisfirst came out...

all koby's friends and teammates came out and said... "he wouldnt do something like that, hes a loving husband and one of the best people i know"

then a day later he got on TV and said he !@#$ed her and hes sorry.

i say bull sh--.

he ant sorry. hes sorry he got caught. but with that many girls throwing kitty at you... it takes a strong man to say no.

and dont tell me.. "if he loves her he wouldnt do that". "i dont cheat on my wife".

to that i say, i garentee you that the amout of girls throwing them selves at you is nothing to what he gets.

so ok, he cheats on his wife.... i dont care. thats not the point.

but i see it like this... their !@#$in. he wants to hit the back door, she says no, he does anyways.. he busts a nut and leaves. she wonders what to so till she sees a lawyer.

so is what he did rape.. i say yes. at any point i think the girl has the right to say stop, or no... it SUCKS!!!! but its the way it is. so she didnt have her clothes riped off or anything like that, so it didnt cause THAT much TRAMA to her so her life is a reck. but that doesnt mean its not rape.
