DrW
Rumor has it that Fairport Convention was unsure about the audience acceptance of the band being without their female lead vocalist Sandy Denny. However, they did quite well as five "man" outfit. While Richard Thompson (g, 2nd vocalist in the clip) was the most famous band member, the guy who held it all together was Dave Swarbrick (lead vocals, violin, g). DrW
If you listen to an album, some songs can appear just to fill the time before the next better-known song. Often, a live version gives you a better appreciation. Example: King Crimson - Larks' Tongues in Aspic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhudDa3JAyc&ab_channel=Beat-Club

She's perfect as she can be Why should I even bother? 'Cause she's so high High above me She's so lovely She's so high Like Cleopatra Joan of Arc Or Aphrodite Da-da-da-da-da She's so high High above me She comes to speak to me I freeze immediately 'Cause what she says sounds so unreal 'Cause somehow I can't believe That anything should happen I know where I belong And nothing's gonna happen, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah 'Cause she's so high High above me She's so lovely She's so high Like Cleopatra Joan of Arc Or Aphrodite Oh, yeah She's so high High above me @---}--}--------- Edited March 18 by muppy

muppy
I knew a Scotsman his name was Gordon McCarvey. He could not say the word mercy to save his life. He pronounced it 3 syllable mI-Er-cE. He thought I said Murphy and he went 20 miles out of his way to come visit lmao we saw this band together in Denver at a 2 thousand seater. He knew how massively popular they were in the UK he was sooo jazzed at this show. Filled with cool people I LOVED IT. me in my Japanese silk Purple rain inspired long coat Yo lol Simply Red was on tour for the album "The Right Thing" released in 1987. It is because of that I am enamored of this band. This record was the shiznik when I first heard it. That and my buddy Gordo. Great guy. We are still in touch today. THIS is my fav Simply Red song. This next clip from a few years later. Edited March 19 by muppy
