May Movies: Captain America, X-Men, Alice, & Neighbors 2...

Recommended Posts

Grab your popcorn, hot dogs, pizza and ice cold drinks, because the month of May has arrived to begin the Summer Season of movies. It's time again for big explosions, super special effects and big name actors to bring us all of the fun we love at the cinema this time of year. For years now, the month of May has been the strongest month of the Summer Season, always packing big anticipated movies. This year will be no different. Two comic book franchises, a live action fairy tale sequel, and a raunchy comedy sequel headline the month, with a few extra choices added in. Without further ado, here is what we have to look forward too.

Disney & Marvel are back at it again, with an Avengers movie that does not have all of the Avengers in it, with "Captain America: Civil War". Political interference in the Avengers' activities causes a rift between former allies Captain America and Iron Man. What began with the anticipation of having a movie where a group of superheroes join forces has now taken the next step to a movie where those superheroes turn on each other. All of this and we still are not finished, as there is more to come for these characters in future movies. Can Disney and Marvel continue to top every project? Starring Chris Evans, Robert Downey, Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Don Cheadle, Anthony Mackie, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olson, Daniel Bruhl, Paul Rudd, Chadwick Boseman, Tom Holland, Frank Grillo, Alfre Woodard, Marisa Tomei, Hope Davis, John Slattery & William Hurt. Directed by Anthony & Joe Russo

20th Century Fox & Marvel continue their partnership also, this time with "X-Men: Apocalypse". With the emergence of the world's first mutant, Apocalypse, the X-Men must unite to defeat his extinction level plan. Starring James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Sophia Turner, Olivia Munn, Oscar Issac, Rose Byrne, Nicholas Hoult, Evan Peters, Nicholas Hoult, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, Ben Hardy & Hugh Jackman. Directed by Bryan Singer.

Disney returns to Wonderland in their live action sequel, "Alice Through the Looking Glass". Alice returns to the whimsical world of Wonderland and travels back in time to save the Mad Hatter. Starring Johnny Depp, Mia Wasikowska, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, Sacha Baron Cohen, Rhys Ifans, Toby Jones, Michael Sheen & Alan Rickman.

Seth Rogen, Zac Efron & Chloe Grace Moretz star in "Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising". After a sorority moves in next door, which is even more debaucherous than the fraternity before it, Mac and Kelly have to ask for help from their former enemy, Teddy. Also starring Rose Byrne, Selena Gomez, Dave Franco & Lisa Kudrow.

Russel Crowe & Ryan Gosling are, "The Nice Guys". A private eye investigates the apparent suicide of a fading porn star in 1970s Los Angeles and uncovers a conspiracy. Also starring Matt Bomer, Kim Basinger & Keith David.

George Clooney & Julia Roberts star in "Money Monster". Financial TV host Lee Gates and his producer Patty are put in an extreme situation when an irate investor takes over their studio. Also starring Jack O'Connell, Dominic West & Giancarlo Esposito. Directed by Jodie Foster.

Sony releases a movie that might be 6 years too late, with "The Angry Birds Movie". Find out why the birds are so angry. When an island populated by happy, flightless birds is visited by mysterious green piggies, it's up to three unlikely outcasts - Red, Chuck and Bomb - to figure out what the pigs are up to. Starring the voices of Peter Dinklage, Jason Sudeikis, Sean Penn, Maya Rudolph, Bill Hader, Tituss Burgess & Danny McBride.

Finally, in "The Darkness". A family returns from a Grand Canyon vacation with a supernatural presence in tow. Starring Jennifer Morrison, Kevin Bacon, Lucy Fry & Ming Na-Wen.

Dude I saw you announce Cardale jones to the Bills! you were totally hyped! how did you get the opportunity to do that? congrats, I heard Cap: Civil War was awesome. Im gonna check it out next week so no spoilers. Apocalypse has the potential to be really good and days of future past WAS AWESOME but, Im a little weary on the new one since Bryan Singers not directing it right? Nice Guys and Neighbors 2 both look funny too.

Just saw "Captain America: Civil War", and Disney & Marvel has done it again.

Warner Bros. & DC need to pay attention to what these studios are doing.

There is a lot going on in this movie, and there is a lot of high emotions being dealt with.

The movie knows when to be serious and funny. A great example is the big fight scene between both factions.

You'll be laughing and geeking out over all these superheroes going at each other. Ant-Man & Spider-Man are hilarious.

Can't wait to see this again.

Actually I announced the pick for Kolby Listenbee. I think NFL Network got a shot of me cheering when Cardale Jones was picked.

How it happened was that they were allowing some fans in the audience to announce picks during the 6th & 7th rounds. So one of the cast members found me and asked if I would like to announce a Bills pick. I said yes, and that was it. It was fun.

"Captain America: Civil War" is awesome. Bryan Singer is the director of "X-Men: Apocalypse".

Like I said in the other thread, I think it's Marvels best film yet. And the speed and flow of the film is amazing.

I would think so. While Singer has done a great job with the X-Men franchise, he has directed other fine movies. Aside from "The Usual Suspects", I thought "Valkyrie" was overlooked.

Yes, they do Spidey justice in "Civil War". Nearly every character gets a good amount of screen time with some back ground, especially Black Panther. Spider-Man doesn't just show up, there is a prelude to him and why he is Team Iron Man.

Tom Holland does a fine job as Spidey. Although, in my opinion, Ant-Man steals the show.

Saw "Civil War." Like it but didn't think it was anything better or worse than the others (outside of the first Capt. America). Not sure if I like Holland as Spidey, but then again, never say the Garfield ones.

Give it time. Disney now has the cinematic rights to X-Men. I don't know how many more projects will be under the distribution of 20th Century Fox.

So did you see the movie?

Singer's great, he needs to do a traditional (non comic book based) sci-fi at some point. And, I wouldn't complain about him going back to noir.

Wait, what? Did I miss something or did you miss a word there?

And I didn't even realize that Apocalypse comes out this month until I read this thread. I'm very interested in it, but it's amazing how easily it has been lost in the hype for Civil War.
