Tyrod Taylor and the Heroic Run to 7-9

Mortgage the future for one player is a heck of a lot riskier than taking many players and risking all of them busting.

And again...Taylor is NOT our issue and anyone who thinks it is really shouldnt be posting about QBs. Is he perfect, no...but the kid has shown a LOT in his FIRST year as a starting QB and has endured a LOT this year. Missing your WR's most the year, your RBs most the year, half your OL, your TE, etc is a lot to over come for any QB. But to have to do it in your first year as a starter, your first year in a new offense, and in a year where he himself has played hurt most the year is a LOT to ask.

Yet he is among the league leaders in several very relevant categories, he protects the ball, has been the major reason we won several of our games, and has even kept us in most games when everything was working against us every where else. Like the Giants game where bad penalties (and really bad calls by the refs) took 2 different impressive TDs away from him on 2 different drives that literally was the difference in the game. This kid was ONE interception since Week 4. For a guy making his first starts as a QB and playing with backups all over the field, thats pretty damn impressive.

Never, not one time, in the history of the NFL has a rookie QB had it all figured out his first year playing. Not even a guy who sat for a few years then got his first starts. Sure guys have had early success to build on, but never were they playing like a seasoned vet. This kid has had one of the better starts to an NFL starting career in the history of the NFL and people still b*tch and moan around here. Its unbelievable.

Anyone who thinks for even a fraction of a second this kid isn't our starter next year is delusional and misguided...no offense, but its true. He's our guy barring some kind of awful implosion the final 3 weeks, and even then, he's still most likely the guy.

But the only player that matters is QB. So the risk is lower, because have 4 All-Pros on your D-line means nothing, when having 1 All-Pro QB means everything.

Kidding. Sorry.

a topic should be on topic. You love to twist words & change contexts. My patience for that is ultra thin right now so I suggest you go find another person to bother.

Chalk me down for "mortgage the future to find a QB" group. I thought I was clear on what I meant earlier, I wasn't trying to change contexts or twist words.

When you have a promising young QB, mortgaging your future for one player that is most likely not going to be better than Taylor is not a good move. Again, Taylor is not our problem on this team. So to mortgage our future on a QB when we have one who's amongst the league leaders in multiple critical categories for a QB thats in his first season as a starter would be pretty dumb.

Okay. We'll see who our QB is in 5 years and reevaluate.

Until you know who is going to be your starter for the next 5 years, you should always be looking, IMO.

You also have that "two many hens in the henhouse" thing going on to......

This is Tyrod Taylors team.....he has the respect of everyone including the players......

You bring in a high 1st round pick QB into this situation and you now you have created tension that should not exist.....you know Tyrod is gonna get the majority of reps in next years training camp as the starter.....

now

We need a backup QB.....so you could draft a QB in the 2nd or 3rd round and you dont have to worry about the above....the pecking order is understood

I want the best QB available. I don't care for the pecking order.

This guy is 0-5 on game tieing drives in the 4th quarter. He is mostly a one read quarterback. Almost all of his throws are to the sidelines. He is good at the deep ball, but we have had other QBs that were good at the deep ball since Kelly retired. Didn't get us anywhere.

The twin towers were standing the last time the Bills played a playoff game.

Interesting analogy.

using the towers for dramatic effect..

I want the best QB available. I don't care for the pecking order.

Not sure that we can get one at 19.

Maybe we have the best QB available, already?

I think this comment has some wisdom behind it. Not so much the too many hens, but someone is going to get the starting qb treatment and it better be Tyrod

get over the last time we played a playoff game boo hoo

first year starting qb's don't rip it up, you would have run Aaron Rogers out of town when he went 6-10

it is tough to separate the drought from what is happening in the here and now. It should have no effect, but many fans can't see that. It must be done to approach this current team rationally and look forward.

I want to make the playoffs as much as the next fan but I didn't expect to this year. Two brand new systems on both sides of the ball and a 1st year QB. The numerous significant injuries sealed it, but all teams have those to some degree. The best thing they can do is build around their several core young players and design the overall personnel to fit the schemes. And provide schematic and coaching consistency wherever possible.

Tyrod's major issue is decision making at key points in the game. How many deep passes is he going to throw on 3rd and 3? Get the first down and keep the drive alive! He will be better will this year's experience. I have been frustrated by him at times but I hope he gets the chance to build on this year. This team needs some continuity.

Yeah, no biggie. That should be easy to fix, right?
