First implemented in New Hampshire’s 2012 general election cycle, the goal is to crack down on voter fraud. Citing multiple instances of actual voter fraud, New Hampshire authorities defend the new laws. They also claim not one person has been prohibited from voting since the new regulations took effect in 2012. Voters who arrive at the polls without requisite ID can still vote. You can probably expect two hours of softballs from MSNBC, but I'll be curious to see if Bernie changes his tune about her email problem. He won Hillary's favor in the last debate with his 'enough with the emails bit, already,' but I wouldn't be surprised if he changes that tune tonight after realizing what a big mistake that was. So while I'm not one to enjoy a fight between two old, angry white people, this is what comprises the SoProg party now, so we may as well watch. I think the candidates effectively laid out their positions. No personal attacks. They did not dodge any questions. The moderators did a nice job. One of the best debates I've ever watched in terms of actually helping to inform the viewers. Also, I think both candidates improved their campaigns. I agree with what one of the analysts said afterwards: Clinton most likely will close the gap in the upcoming New Hampshire primary and Sanders probably will close the gap nationally. Meanwhile, here's an interesting article on why millennials think Bernie is a dreamboat. The first is that, to millennials, Sanders’s socialism is a feature, not a bug. Much of the current conversation about Sanders’s “democratic socialism” is predicated on whether Americans can look past this supposedly toxic label. But millennials love Sanders not despite his socialism, but because of it. “Socialism” has never been a dirty word for the current cohort of youth, who either didn’t live through the Cold War or don’t remember it. We are more likely to associate socialism with prosperous, egalitarian, relatively well-functioning Scandinavian states — the kinds of places that produce awesome things like Ikea and “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” — than with autocrats who starve their people. Many of us also entered the job market just as unbridled capitalism appeared to blow up the world economy. Perhaps for this reason, millennials actually seem to prefer socialism to capitalism. It was civil yes. However like each of their other debates, they barely even address the big federal issues with any substance. Debt, budgets, entitlements, economic growth policies, national security and immigration get little air time and what little is offered is bad policy.
