2 minutes of Googling. Some familiar quotes and names.

There are some real gems in there. My favorite:

On top of this, you predict that Maybin, who has more sacks than any player on the Bills, is going to get cut next year is ludicrous. Take your head out of your a$$. He will be in the pro bowl before Marcell Dareus.

This is an excellent example of how stats belie what's actually happening on the field. People never even saw him play for the Jets, but they heard he tallied 6 sacks, and proceeded to freak out. I saw those sacks. They were all the product of scheming and/or coverage, and any warm-bodied 2nd string LB could have done the same.

I either need to drink more or just stay away from any thread having to do with QBs. This is just awful. I'm going to have to try to stick to non-QB threads and gameday thread for the season.

same - I tried to go back and see where the heck Aaron Maybin came into the conversation on Matt Cassel but decided that may not be wise.

this board needs a sarcasm meter. That will help

bartending rule 39 - when detecting a male patron using sarcasm in addressing another male patron, immediately diffuse the situation with a buy back and a comment regarding Kate Upton to bring them back to their natural, masculine state

No but your trolling is

So your defense is anyone who thinks EJ shouldn't be starting is trolling. But you're hatred of cassel and TT and utter thought that only EJ is HOF worthy should be considered?

Troll alert.

Don't have time to look. But who said that?

He called out someone for ej being 3rd and comparing him to tuel/maybin. Nothing about the other two. Edited by The Wiz

I still don't know how you barely play Cassel, cut him...and then re-sign him and make him the backup. All I have to say is that if TT sucks/goes down and Cassel comes in and plays as poorly as he has the past 4 years, the honeymoon will be over immediately.

Finally someone with some freakin clarity on this board.

"i believe Manuel earned a shot as the backup, but this doesn't bode well for his career. hoping i'm wrong, because the kid could have cashed 'em in and moped. even now, he's staying positive. just an easy guy to root for." - which part of this statement gives you the impression i want EJ to fail?

as far as this recitation by many that in Manuel's case, 3rd string isn't really the "3rd string", and he'll get chances to lead the offense in season - i have to wonder where this fantasy comes from..

barring injury to Tyrod - which no Bills fan should want - Cassel starts, EJ will spend this season preparing the varsity defense with the JV offense. that's it.. some weeks he may not dress..

the idea that this staff wants Cassel as a backup QB in name only, and he will defer the starting job to the 3rd stringer if the starter falls, is something i've never seen happen in football - at any level - it's why depth charts are developed.

and EJ is 3rd string in his 3rd year

Have you ever seen a QB get cut and then brought back as the backup QB - at any level?

He's the #2 in an emergency. Imagine how it would look to have EJ be the #2 and he has to come in. He might do well and he might lay an egg. They are erring on the side of caution with making him the #2 to be sure there is a guy that can come into the game and do enough. That's all. If TT goes out for more than a week I don't doubt that he still remains the #2 QB on the depth chart.

It's a cap move nothing more. Somewhere in the snooze today Cassel even mentions

That he knew he could come back or could take possibly other (more lucrative)offers. his wife is 8 months pregnant he spent the summer here. So he chose to come back. The coaches slot him at #2. Mystery solved.

And what if Cassel comes in and plays like he has the past 4 years (when he was a season vet and not a rookie/2nd year player who has played minimally)? Unless you think those were an aberration and his baseline is his 2010 season, I don't know how anyone can think he's the "safe" or "cautious" choice. Beyond that he's never going to be a franchise QB, never going to improve, and he won't be here next year. If TT can't do it, for whatever reason, go with EJ, see what he has/if he improves, and then make a determination next year whether to draft a guy early or stick with him and/or TT.

True it was a cap move since no team is paying even their backup QB $4M. But it was a huge risk cutting him in the hopes of resigning him for even what he got, which was half. No one here envisioned him returning, much less with a 50% paycut. I doubt the Bills did either and were surprised when he did.
