Matt Miller is the lead nfl draft writer for bleacher report. I have heard this same sentiment now for awhile but as we get closer to the draft I was wondering how it would shake out. He tweeted this today:

@nfldraftscout: I'm not generally a pessimistic person, so let this sink in: This draft class is not very good.

He's kind of pompous on twitter (btw he did not like EJ; was obsessed with Watkins) but he is always providing tons of info on draft prospects. I just think it's interesting that Whaley was not too protective of this year's draft picks. More than likely, he knew last year was the draft to hit on. Though Cyrus and Cyril haven't panned out yet, I don't know they won't especially with different scheme and coaching.

Any draft gurus out there agree with Miller?

I'm not a draft guru but I follow it pretty closely. This draft stinks. There are a couple of QB prospects, some good RBs and WRs as well as pass rushers. The depth is bad and I don't see a lot of franchise type guys. If Jameis and/or Mariota don't pan out out it could be a disaster. The RBs will probably end up to be the best position group IMO.

I just texted my relative who is with another FO (not Bills) and he said at this point in time they do not have 32 players with first rd grades :/

Obviously that could change by draft time but geez.

Here's this draft class in a nutshell:

There a quite a few good players. Guys that will carve out decent NFL careers.

The senior class is not very good. The QB class looks even worse.

The RB class looks good.

The top of the draft lacks blue chip players.

Really? I bet Winston and marriota are still the first qbs taken if the classes were combined.

Sadly the #1 overall 2014 picks entire career is already in serious doubt

Same goes for manziel, the most visible player

So far the only thing that looks above average from the 2014 draft is the WR class, and maybe ...just maybe ....the LBs

I agree last year there were 4 consensus elite players at the top. Now we see there may have been more with all the rookie success.

what are you saying here? is this related to ODB ? This draft is weak except at rb.

NFL.com's guy has Mariota falling to 18 to the chiefs.

2014 was deep at WR...you disputing that?

Winston, marriota, and the 3 first round QBs from 2014 (bortles, manziel, Bridgewater) are all in the same class. How do you rank them? Im saying Winston and marriota go ahead of the others

To me it makes a world of sense to take a RB with that 2nd round pick........

Get a guy that makes his living between the tackles

I'd prefer a later round pick for the RB position. I feel you can get better talent in the later rounds at RB than you could, say, TE

Jameis, Bortles, Bridgewater, Marriota, Manziel is my order.

2014 had tons of talent. Zach Martin, CJ Mosely, and the almighty wideouts.

And even still jameis will be a big question mark. He isn't the traditional #1 qb

It does sound like a bad year to draft a starting QB....which might have factored into Whaley's decision on compensation for Sammy W.

yeah no doubt that has been pretty clear for awhile they didn't pass up a franchise QB with the 19th pick. Pretty sure some will continue to use the "mortgaged their future" line. Rather they just have up the right to draft a rookie at some other position at 19 that probably has 2nd rd talent.
