As did most RT @RVacchianoNYDN: Jerry Reese on @WFAN660 said Giants had Bills WR Sammy Watkins ahead of Odell Beckham on their draft board

But were wise enough to stay put and not trade up and give away a pair of firsts and a 4th. By understanding draft value they ended up with the better wr and their 2015 picks intact

How do you know they didn't try to move up for him?

They also didn't give away a pair of 1sts...they gave away a 1st and 4th and swapped 1sts; you are over-stating the compensation.

Also, their brilliance resulted in exactly 1 fewer win than they had the previous year, so maybe they should've moved up...

Oh please, so now we're fantasizing giants tried trading up even though there's no mention or evidence?

They used 2 firsts and a 4th on Watkins. That simple

I'm not fantasizing anything, YOU are glamorizing their perceived brilliance in staying put instead of moving up...you have no idea whether or not they considered or tried to move up.

Also, if you want to say that they used 2 firsts and a 4th to get Watkins, fine. Don't say that they "gave away a pair of firsts and a fourth"; they didn't. That simple.

EDIT: I also think you're waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay premature in calling Beckham the better WR, but you already know that you're premature in doing so and don't seem to care.

Remember when Hardy came east. Used him for every play you could think of. Sammy has that talent. Never used him. He is a threat ever time he touches the ball. He was dinged up a little LY. Wait and see what Rex will do. A lot more I bet.

Bunch.of crap. They used him on reverses but he never went anywhere with them.

You're fantasizing they were wise not to.

All you know is that they didn't trade up. You have no idea if that was due to wisdom, lack of opportunity, or whatever else. Stop pretending you know more than you do.

No fantasy at all. We traded up, they didn't. They got the better WR (pro bowl, ORoY), and their 2015 1st and 4th round picks are intact

And yet we went from 6-10 to 9-7 (thanks in part to 3 game-winning performances from our #4 overall pick against Miami, Minnesota, and Detroit), and they went from 7-9 to 6-10.

Weird.

It's a fantasy to think they did that because they were smarter than anyone else.

The draft was what it was. You're judging it using a senseless ex post facto rationale that could not have been applied at the time. Not only is that not right, it's not even wrong.

Fine with me, let's just stick to whats observable vs an infinite number of unsupported "what if" scenarios:

- bills traded up for watkins

- giants did not

- giants got the better WR (pro bowl, ORoY)

- giants' 2015 draft is intact
