Stalin.

What a seriously dumb question.

I'd say it's hard to qualify what Stalin was? He killed idealistic communism, and turned it into dictatorship communism. Socialism and democracy are not incompatible. Look at Europe. Socialism/Communism do not have monopolies on evil...

First of all, what the !@#$ is "idealistic communism", other than a utopian impossibility. All socialism is dictatorial. All of it, as it ultimately conscripts the population to it's will.

And I will look to Europe. Western Europe specifically, as well as noting Stalin, Lenin, Franco, and even Mussolini and Hitler who both built their regimes utilizing socialist principals. We can look to Africa, and it's unfortunate ongoing love-affair with attrocity. We can similarly look to the South and Central American revolutionaries who blood stained their countries. Finally we can look to Asia and Mao and the Kim's.

Yes, was Stalin a Socialist, or was he all out for his own power and used the Socialist rhetoric to further that aim? When Hitler invaded he became a Russian Nationalist. And yet, looking at the Nazi plans for Russia, you can make a pretty good argument that for all the people Stalin killed before 1941, he did save MORE because of the effort to industrialize the Soviet Union that saved it from Hitler. Because Hitler was out to kill all the Russians

. All socialism is dictatorial.

Absolute and total BS. Socialism is about democracy. The first step in socialism IS democracy, "giving" all the people the right to vote....for free!!

Its funny how you see the Confederacy as good and Nelson Mandella as bad. Are you a racist? Just asking

As if you even have a clue.

Socialism is not about democracy. It's about dismantling the business class, disolving private property, and replacing free exchange with violent force.

It's not that I'm pro-Confederacy. I'm not, because while not the central driving force of the Civil War, black slavery was an issue. What I am, is pro State's Rights; and anti-unitary executive. None of this has anything to do with Nelson Mandella, or socialism.

"Killed idealistic communism?" That's like saying he killed unicorns.

Why don't you go back and read the post I was replying to - I wasn't criticizing socialism as much as I was the insipid puerile implication that socialism is all butterflies and rainbows.

What in the world makes you believe that I'm sympathetic towards any brutal dictator, totalitarian regime, or monarchy?

Also, that's your defense? None of my examples matter because... well... "PINOCHET!!! PINOCHET LED A MILITARY JUNTA THAT INSTITUTED MONETARIST REFORMS!!!!!"? What the !@#$ is that all about?

Coming from the guy defending Stalin, no less. I'm just waiting for you to tell us that Hitler was just misunderstood.

Stalin can be forgiven for his brutal killings because he built lots of tanks to defend the Russians against the Nazis. By building the tanks he saved more people than he killed. He should get the Nobel Peace Prize "posthumorously".

He doesn't deserve any credit for beating Hitler?

You are a complete idiot. So if someone said the cotton crop of 1856 was very profitable, would I be defending slavery...like tasker would be?

When a power-mad, totalitarian, mass murderer wins a victory over another power-mad, totalitarian, mass murderer, it doesn't absolve him of being a power-mad, totalitarian, mass murderer.

Source for me, please, my defense of slavery.
