Faulk didn’t mince words in telling Curran that the Patriots seemed too prepared to handle what the Rams’ high-powered offense, especially on red-zone plays they had never shown in previous games.

Sound familiar?

Yeah, it was revealed the Pats taped the Rams days before the super bowl. I believe that was one of the tapes Goodell destroyed.

Shucks! Leave the deadbeats alone... They deserve a AAA rating just like all the honest teams out there!

Pre-Youtube era explosion... Sucks it couldn't get leaked.

Why didn't they show it to us first! ;-)

The Spygate book outlines that, during the years they taped, if it were the first time facing that team that season, they needed the first half to collect the data/process it - then put it to use in the 2nd half. This is why many of the Pats games were "a tale of two halves" - these are the legendary "adjustments"

Can't help but to think of a whole bunch of games where they were night and day after the half.

It was revealed that there was no such tape. That kid who used to work for them at the center of all that admitted there was no tape.

You two are getting destroyed by NoSaint here. Time to declare yourselves insane or slink away.

If it didn't help them why did they do it?

Even Bill himself said they watched the tapes and what they could use from it, they used. They haven't won a SB since the spygate thing either. There are pretty strong allegations they were taping opposing teams practices in the SB winning years which is a violation of league rules. Again, tapes have been destroyed.

Belichick did it because it's not illegal to tape your opposition ..... having been done since before Christ was a cowboy. Kinda hard to fault him for this. Why he continued to tape from the location he did .... he said he mis-interpreted the league's wording on the matter. On this he should be chastised for blatantly going against the words of judge, juror and executioner, Godell.

As for not having won a SB title since, this is true. However, keep in mind that they very well could have won 2 more SB titles since if not for having a couple of last minute, miracle, plays go against them.

There was no proof of this. Just allegations.

We're not talking about video taping the game and watching it. Of course that's legal. However, It's not legal to video tape coaches signals from the sidelines. The NFL has very strict rules about where video cameras can be located and what can be video taped. Coaches signals from the sidelines is a definite violation.

This is true. A guy says he did it. Marshall Faulk thinks he did it. There may be no tape NOW, but doesn't mean he didn't. No smoking gun though.

Also remember when the SpyGate story broke in 2007, NFL Insider Chris Mortenson reported a story where Doug Flutie told a reporter one time when he was on the Pats in 2005 he picked up Tom Brady's spare helmet & heard a 2nd radio after the 15 second cut off.

Also remember Josh McDaniels as Belichick disciple got buste taping signals of other teams when he was coach of the Broncos.

So strict are the rules that teams have been doing it for years prior ..... including the same Jets team that ratted on the Pats.

All major US media outlets at the time.

wasnt the only source on that tape existing in the first place an anonymous tip that never produced any evidence? of course coupled with marshall faulk. because no new play has ever been stopped without seeing it on tape first.

im not arguing the pats have never done anything, just that many are so quick to jump on any accusation, and forget any rebuttal of it that things get pretty skewed.

Conspiracy theorists will always exist. Remember Marv Levy trudging off to the locker at halftime of SB26 screaming at the head official "YOU WERE BOUGHT!"

Sorry but we cannot be that naive as to how the damage control + media game is played in American big business. Jesus.

They cannot under any circumstance allow the public to believe for one second that the SUPERBOWL is tainted. At all cost, hold it to regular season.....firewall off the damage.

we will NEVER know the truth of what was on the tapes they destroyed....because Goodell ordered them destroyed. Must have been some reeeeeaallllllly good stuff!

I heard it included some juicy film of other NFL teams, including the Jets, Godell's former employer, filming the Pats sidelines in years prior.

so if you dont take the anonymous source hook line and sinker, you are an ignorant sheep? did something happen? maybe. but it seems the side presenting it as fact isnt me. maybe something to consider when talking about not knowing the truth on this.

Some people believe that Bill Parcells had Head Official Jerry Seeman swap out the football right before Norwood's attempted SB25 winning kick, the ball was weighted down behind the laces causing the snap & hold angle to be slightly off. Changing the timing of a kick by .0001 is all you need. I don't believe this but some people do.

Thanks for the link to that bevy of information.

And here I thought it was your love for all things Patriot.

It's weird because I remember seeing a clip from the site of the Super Bowl airing during the investigation period. It was brief but it was a clip.

P.S. Your link "All major US media outlets at the time." above doesn't work.
