Did the ST coach call for a returnable kick

it was poor coverage - a kick to the goal line shouldn't be considered a bad play. It was just poor coverage, probably one of the first bad ones of the year on kickoffs. It wasn't a horrible call, just horrible execution.

A kick to the goal line in that situation should ABSOLUTELY be considered a bad play and a horrible call in that situation. You don't leave any window open for a big return - if any team knows that the hard way it's the Bills - they're still talking about that run back in Nashville. You do the safe and sure thing - you kick it out of the back of the end zone and make them earn the yards, with no timeouts, to make the field goal - you don't give them ANY chance of getting anything on the return. Any play besides kicking it out of the end zone is reckless, asinine and should be grounds for having to find another job - period.

I got to the Bills Backers thing after it was 7-0. Most of the game I was sick to my stomach. Especially at the end of the half when they threw the ball 3 times, killing just a few seconds and gave the ball right back. I was calling for pressure on the QB but instead was rewarded with a 50 yard pass down the sideline. They should have been up by 10 at the half. The final minute was excruciating. Floating the kick to the goal line, rather than putting it thru the endzone, and having the guy run the kick back 50 yards.....inexcusable. And when Tannehill overthrew his guy who was completely uncovered.....near heart attack. The last play, our DL missing on 3 sack attempts.....all I could think about was the interference call on Henry Jones against the Patriots. They won but I nearly puked. I'm thrilled that they won the game, but I nearly chainchoked my way thru a bottle of Rolaids.

Disagree. These days, a goaline kick is planned.

you don't know, you are just guessing.

have we heard from Marrone if this was a called play or not? Or is everyone just going nuts for no reason yet?

---....technically yes----but coverage is coverage and we proved how good we are out there on that kick

technically and statistically

Just heard Marrone say that Carpenter misshit the ball on the last KO. It was not kicked in the field of play by design.

thanks, so everyone is just going nuts because they don't no any better.

Special team coverage is definitely an issue at the moment. The good news is that it can be fixed during the season. Tasker said the single most important thing on punt and kickoff coverage was lane discipline. On some of the long returns this year, you'll see Bills players all bunched up together, meaning that they broke out of their lanes too quickly to chase the ball carrier, creating holes for the ball carrier to run through. This problem can be solved as the people on punt and kick coverage get some experience.

I am not one to always point at the coach but there have been enough return coverage issues for one season already.

Lane discipline is coachable.

^ I will vouch for this. ^

His behavior was deplorable and nothing could make him happy today! He was bringing all this bad karma from the past onto my table.

I held strong and with all fingers and toes crossed I willed us to victory.

Have a great week Tom! We WON!!!!! Feel Good!!! YAHOO!!!

Cheers, Bob

I would love to know how many years the Buffalo Bills have taken off my life since I have been a fan. I felt physically ill watching that last 30 seconds just waiting for yet another kick in the teeth. That kick was yet another example of either an idiotic coaching decision at a pivotal time or horribly executed play once again at a pivotal time. This special teams coach should be fired anyway for all the gaffes this season. They have lost 2 games because of terrible punt coverages and unbelievably they almost do the same with the game on the line on A KICKOFF!! Only in Buffalo!

This would be funny, it weren't so true! Actually, it IS funny! I'm 58 and they aren't gonna let me get out of my 70's, even though I have genealogy to suggest centurion.. EVERY FREAKIN' WEEK!!!

I don't know if this helps, but you're NOT alone...
