Pittsburgh Steelers lost by 7 this week. Go ask a Steelers fan if they think the game was decided by one or two plays. Bills (and 90% of other NFL teams) fans have been saying this every year for as many years back as they have missed the playoffs. If only we had won this game. If only we had gone for it here instead of kicking. If only we had made that tackle. If only our receiver had caught that pass. If only the punt returner didn’t score. If only….if only…. If only the Bills made one more big play than the other team, then the Bills would win those games instead of losing them. More times than not, the game is decided by a play here and a play there. If you are blowing teams out then obviously it is more than one or two plays. But games are often decided by a touchdown or less. "Good" teams come out on the winning side of that more than not. "Bad" teams come out on the losing side more times than not. And so far the Bills are on the losing side of that coin. That's one week. Across a season, the good teams are more "one or two big plays" better than the bottom dwellers that Buffalo has fielded for the last 15 years. Didn't cherry pick anything dude. The guy I was responding to mentioned those team quarterbacks in his point. So I just grabbed this weeks games by those two quarterbacks. That is the exact opposite of cherry picking. Your theory doesn't take in to account that once a good team has a lead, they usually lay back, and just try to drain the clock. That's what tightens up scores at the end of games. The good teams are way better than the bottom dwellers. The only team in recent memory that didn't let up was the 2007 Patriots team that just destroyed bad teams for ***** and giggles. As of this week Brown will be splitting time at LG with Legursky. Long overdue to see if he is better at LG, but then he has been injured all this time. EJ was doing fine this season until that 8 sack Jets game. EJ was under so much constant pressure all game long. Recently released G Sam Young went into the game briefly for Kraig Urbik and surrendered two sacks. "DE Muhammad Wilkerson broke out as a pass rusher (+4.8) with seven pressures (two sacks, one hit, four hurries) on his 56 rushes. Of course much of his damage was done against LG Colin Brown who is now grading at -23.7 through three games." To put that number into perspective, QB Jeff Tuel had a -5.0 grade last week and CB Justin Rodgers had a -3.8 against the Jets after giving up... "Picking on Rogers Often times our PFF grades will reveal something that was difficult to see during the original broadcast, but CB Justin Rogers’ (-3.8) difficult game was as clear as day for everyone. We also warn to take caution when comparing coverage metrics to coverage grades, as the metrics don’t always tell the whole story, but again in this case, the numbers speak for themselves. Rogers was targeted eight times and surrendered six receptions for an absurd 247 yards. Even worse then the punter they just cut. The problem is they don't have a viable replacement, and can't find one off the waiver wire like Buddy Nix did in 2010. Rookie or not E.J. has cost us games with his up and down play. I know the average rookie QB will play like this. The 3 and outs and the fast playhas wore our d out at times. You put this D in Denver with Manning and it would be real ugly. Playing ahead with lots of points,they would be unreal.Hope E.J. makes the big jump next year. All of the bills losses were very competitive games. That is why we have to hope that EJ eventually becomes elite. Don't worry though, if the bills are ever in a position to draft a great QB prospect you will see half of this board suggest we take an offensive lineman instead. Did any one see what the Jets did while opening up the field for their rookie QB last night ? I think that is what Hackett needs to do is open it up so the other teams aren't keying on our run game Heck even Fitz was getting it further down the field than we have with EJ & this kid has got a gun but it won't fire if you don't pull the trigger !! If you want to riff on the Andy Levitre thing, there are plenty of threads. It's not like they haven't been able to move the ball at all, because every play Colin Brown's assignment is blowing up the play.
