Ranking Bills Last 3 Starting QBs

Recommended Posts

In alphabetical order: Edwards, Fitzpatrick, Losman (not including Holcomb because he was never considered a serious starter).

I rank them:

1) Edwards: smart in the sense of not a lot of dumb mistakes, pretty good arm I think (not sure since he didn't throw deep very often); weakness seemed to be declining confidence and lack of leadership ability.

2) Losman: had the physical tools, but mentally just was not there to be a real winner at this level.

3) Fitzpatrick: academically smart which didn't always translate on the field (can be erratic), and worst arm of the three (strength and accuracy). But tough as nails, would hang in there and take the big hit if it meant getting it to the best option. Also uncanny knack for drawing out talent of unheralded receivers like Stevie Johnson and Chandler.

Fitzpatrick is by far the better of the 3. Not even debatable. That's how bad Losman and Edwards were

Fitz put up more TD's more yards better completion %

Just look for yourself. Edwards best year was 11 TD's, 10INT's 2700 yds

Losman did better the Edwards, but Losmans best year was 3000 yds 19 TD's 14 INT's

Fitz makes mistakes, but he is 1000 x's better then Edwards and Losman were in the redzone

Fitz had 3 consecutive 3000 yds seaosns, threw for over 20 TD's 3 years in a row. He has the tendenancy to make an ill times INT, but Losman and Edwards were sack machines.

Yes we need to upgrade our QB position, but Fitz by far was better the Edwards and Losman. Not even a close debate

This^

Fitz had his shortcomings but his guts alone make him a better player. Losman had the most potential and Edwards favorite actress was Dakota Fanning

I agree with this as well. Losman and Edwards were so bad that it literally made me sick to watch them...I have never seen such bad QB play in my life, except when watching those two play.

You can't be serious? Really? The hatred for Fitz has stooped to this level? Comparing him to JP and TE, it's not even close who the better QB is/was. To think TE and JP were better than Fitz is just plain ignorant Fitz hatred.

Trentative had the best chance of being the most complete qb of the 3; better brain than JP, better arm than Fitz. Sure looked the part in this game against jags. Nice job of making good and quick decisions; looking off DBs; mixing up short, medium and long passes. That end zone corner route to hardy in particular, that's what makes an NFL qb, and something I've never seen out of Fitz.

One drive against a suspect Jags team does not make a QB. I don't think his arm is stronger than Fitz and if Hardy isn't 6'6" and jumping 3 feet in the air he doesn't make that catch.

Find some TE crap drives and show those also. He had way more of those than ones like this one you have chose to show.

Losman was the biggest let down. Great arm...no brains. Wish we could merge Fitz's head and attitude with JP's arm and accuracy.

Yup. Losman was a 1st round pick who had all the tools. Fitz was a 7th rounder, career backup, who got the most out of his tools. Fitz was limited physically but he absolutely maximized his potential. Fitz was a much, much better QB than Edwards or Losman.

Why do I get the feeling the purpose behind this thread was to eventually get to "if he hadn't been injured, Trent would have been a good QB"?

Reliving the terrible play of these guys, is like repeatedly watching the porn tapes you found of your ex-wife with various deliverymen.

Let's move on...

This thread is insulting to the intelligence of anyone who considers themself a football fan. Prior to 2010, the Buffalo Bills did not have an actual, legitimate NFL offense since 2004. They could not move the football like a real NFL team. They could do two things: dump the ball off to running backs and throw bombs to Lee Evans. Period, end of story. The 15-yard out pattern and even the 10-yard slant were off the table. Enter Ryan Fitzpatrick. They instantly became a middle-of-the-road NFL offense. I would even go so far as to give more of the credit to Chan Gailey on that one. But they did not have a plethora of weapons by any stretch. And yet they could go toe to toe with the Ravens in Baltimore. They could put up 31 at New England. Stevie Johnson, a 7th round pick, became a perennial 1,000 yard receiver. Hell, the first 7 games of 2012 alone is a slam dunk for Fitzpatrick over Losman/Edwards. Beating the Pats? Putting up 41 at KC? The comeback against Oakland? The wins and losses may appear similar but at least they had an offense that other teams had to game plan for. You can debate Losman/Edwards all day long. Personally I'd give the edge to Losman because I liked the guy and he had a decent '06 season. But it really doesn't matter. Bottom line, if you don't recognize the sizemic gap between Fitzpatrick and Losman/Edwards then either a) you have forgotten how truly miserable 2005-2009 was to watch as a Bills fan, b) you are trolling or c) (most likely) you don't know anything about football. Seeing as though you have Manti Te'o as your avatar, I'm leaning c.
