NYC Bomber thwarted

Recommended Posts

Federal authorities arrested a Bangladeshi national Wednesday morning for allegedly plotting to blow up a Federal Reserve Bank in New York City's lower Manhattan, mere blocks away from the site of the terrorist attack of Sept. 11, 2001. The bank is one of 12 branches around the country.

The 21-year-old suspect, Quazi Mohammad Rezwanul Ahsan Nafis, attempted to detonate what he thought was a 1,000-pound bomb in front of the Fed building on Liberty Street, but the device was a fake supplied to him by undercover FBI agents who had been tracking his activity, the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force said Wednesday afternoon.

Score one for the USA.

Y'know, it's always refreshing these days when you read about a terrorist who has a real knowledge of and dedication to his work that he actually tries to carry out a real plan.

It's just nice to know our tax dollars are catching gomers that take real pride in their work, and not just being wasted on the bozos who try to light their underwear on fire or detonate a pail of MiracleGro.

From a paragraph further in the OP article:

Nafis, who is scheduled to appear in court this afternoon, faces charges of attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction and attempting to provide material support to Al Qaeda.

Huh, if a 1000-pound bomb constitutes a WMD, by that definition, Iraq must have been crawling with the stuff.

Yep. Sometime around '02 or '03, "NBC" became "CBNRE" (chem/bio/nuclear/radiological/explosive), and thus large bombs became WMDs.

Always thought it was really silly...but then, no one really asked me (and the only authority I discussed it with posted on PPP, so he doesn't count.) And in some contexts it does make sense - like the context under which we invaded Iraq, which I also thought was really silly.

Back on topic...anyone know the over/under for Obama releasing all the details of this investigation and arrest, then blaming Romney for politicizing it?

With as little time as there is until the election, it's gotta be around 3.5 days.

Oh boy Barry will be taking credit for this in the next debate. He so looks after our interests.

Actually? No, he won't be. He won't be for the same reason they tried to say "youtube did it" WRT Benghazi.

Obama took the credit for defeating terrorism, and Al Queda, nearly completely, at his convention.

Any new terrorist attack contradicts that assertion. He created his own trap, and now he gets to keep falling into it, every time another terrorist attack occurs/is thwarted. They took a huge risk trying to gain politically on the terror war thing....and....the terrorists are making them pay for it.

In fact, the terrorists, in their stupidity, may actually end up getting Romney elected, which is the very last thing they want, because then it will go back to open season on them, and the rest of the world will be put on notice, as they should have been for the last 4 years, especially Russia.

It's folly all around. Obama getting the opposite of what he intended, terrorists the same.

Once again, when you want something done right, put the far-left(or nutty terrorists) in charge of doing the opposite.

Oh, my mistake  ....is Russia openly selling arms in Syria? Are they vetoing everything we try to do to Iran in the UN?

How did we get here? You think F'ing about with drone strikes = a successful strategic foreign policy with people that matter?

Once again...elephants = sea shells, because they are both grey.

The guy is ridiculously predictable. Not our fault.

Hey in the sense that he did exactly what I said he would today...and modulated his stump speech, by saying "we are fighting Al Queda", rather than what he has said since his convention: "we have Al Queda on the run"?

Yes, he is predictable. And, cynical. For him to call anybody a liar at this point? Hysterical.

Although, you may be right, he may try to take credit....because he already tried to take credit for beating Al Queda, the "Benghazi proves you wrong" ship has already sailed, and therefore, he has little to lose by hoping enough people didn't pay attention to his convention.

But, the modification of the speech today, probably means that no, he won't try to take credit, for fear of keeping this entire cycle of idiocy going.

Obama needs to change the subject from Libya, MORE, than Chan needs to change the subject from Fitz.
