Lee did nothing to cover up and hold on, he should have sat down. It was shocking that from so far behind he actually got there and had time to make any play. It seemed like he got VERY far between the first and second foot landing- two long strides. Very good play on his part. Lee didn't hold it like his life depended on it - a mistake that probably happens more than most wrs admit, but without a great defensive play you never see. So what your saying is you would have much rather kept him around in order for him to get injured & then he would have gotten paid to be a cheerleader so that we would have done the exact same thing depend on our younger players to try & get the job done. Only to come back and make 3 or 4 catches to prove that he wasn't worth the 3 or 4 mil that he was getting paid so that this year coming up he would have been in the same boat as Mcgee , which i suppose you want us to bring him back next year too b/c he was once a good player for the team . After the fact i wished in some ways that we would have kept him b/c of injuries , but his production in comparison to what he is getting paid i think he surely was getting the better end of the deal !!! This year the trade hurt more than it helped becuase they were playing three PS players at WR in the end. A fourth round pick can turn into a solid contributior to an NFL team. Just about any offensive lineman or CB would have been more help this year but let's face it player for player trades almost never happen in the NFL. If he had caught the pass, the offical would have raised his arms to signal a touchdown, and Baltimore would be going to the Super Bowl. If you had read my post, you would have seen that I led off with, "According to all the naysyaers on this board," which should have given you a clue that I do not castegorize myself as one of those naysayers. I am happy with the trade, and, as long as Buddy does something decent with that 4th-round pick, will continue to be happy with that trade. I do not hold any ill will towards Evans. Donald Jones looked completely overwhelmed in that role and doesn't appear to be able to catch a ball that well. At the same time from a business perspective Lee Evans clearly wasn't a long term fit in Buffalo. Fitz has trouble connecting on the long ball, and Lee Evans is really just a speedster specialist, He has questionable skills when it comes to running anything else than a deep pattern. For better or worse Chan has built this offense around short patterns. You can blame that on Fitz or Chan or whomever you like. Either way those or the facts. So when do you get rid of Lee Evans and still get something in return? The real question is would Lee Evans turn a few of losses on that 7 game loosing streak into wins? I highly doubt it. I think that is coming from a place where Lee Evans is on the roster in 2013. I'm assuming he won't be. So if the 4th round pick is on the roster in 2013 than you have something more than just payroll savings. You have a possible contributor as opposed to an empty roster spot. So there is a good argument that the Bills may have traded Evans too Early but in my mind, Lee Evans was going one way or another in 2013. Plus he has proven that he isn't a good fit for the current Bills offense. Plus Buddy Nix has an apparent history of finding sizable WRs. V-Jax, Legadu Nanne, Malcom Floyd, David Nelson, an others . . . So you might as well get something for him in return when you can. A bird in hand is better than a dozen in the bush and all . . .
