You may already have it, but my favorite Elton John song is one that most people seem to not be very familiar with.

I liked early 80s music better than later 80s, so I'll try and think of some stuff that was pretty good but somewhat obscure.

If you like the hair band stuff from the later 80s, here's one that was somewhat obscure, although it got a fair bit of air play.

Kix: Don't Close Your Eyes

I have "Empty Garden." I have "Don't Close Your Eyes" by Dokken, but not Kix. I'll keep it in mind, though.

Huey Lewis and the News - Stuck With You

In '87, Huey released Fore, their most accomplished album. I think their undisputed masterpiece is "Hip to be Square", a song so catchy, most people probably don't listen to the lyrics. But they should, because it's not just about the pleasures of conformity (and the importance of trends), it's also a personal statement about the band itself.

Hey, Paul!

Good calls. The first I have and is from "The Karate Kid."

I have Glass Tiger's "Don't Forget Me When I'm Gone" and "Someday."

Don't have "Sweetheart." I just looked it up and I remember it and will try to get it (some tunes aren't available or have to be bought with the whole album). Thanks.

And I LOVE "Ah! Lea!" by Donnie Iris and already have it. One of my recollections of childhood was seeing him play it on "Solid Gold."

Eddie Murphy - Party All The Time

Don Johnson - Heartbeat

Sheena Easton - Morning Train

Eddy Grant - Electric Avenue

Patrick Swaze - She's Like The Wind

I mean, if you're looking for songs that really, really suck. "Morning Train" may very well be the worst song ever recorded.

On a slightly more serious note..."Kyrie" by Mr. Mister, or "Shock The Monkey" by Peter Gabriel? Pretty quintessential '80s songs, but not that commonly come to mind. Or "Relax" by Frankie Goes to Hollywood.

Geez, what's wrong with me that I remember these songs? :wallbash:

Might be 1979, but close enough. Billy Thorpe, children of the sun.

Great song that I'll have to try and get in any case. I looked it up and yep, it's 1979.

Please do. Several songs I didn't have.

Hey, Paul!

Great, great album. As was "Sports."

If I suggested Private Idaho (B-52s), Burning Down the House (Talking Heads), What I Am (Edie Brickell/New Bohenmians), you'd probably say you've already got them...

How 'bout -

(VERY 1980s B-) )

I don't have "Private Idaho" or "Through Being Cool." Thanks.

Ah Lea reminds me of the music of one of my favorite current musicians, Ben Folds. They're both from the "talented nerd" genre lol

I have all of those, except for "Heartbeat." Although my wife has been bothering me to get it.

I think we're underestimating the depth of Doc's 80s collection
