I say to that BS, neither Gailey nor Nix fixed the O line in the off season, all they did to upgrade that line was to bring in RT Cornell Green who is actually worse then Langston Walker. So while LT Bell learns his position and the O line goes through a learning curve on protection schemes with a new O line coach, Edwards paid the price.

I get it, all the fans are ecstatic now that Edwards is gone. Just give me this pitch about how the Bills are better off without him after the Jets game, and then again after the Ravens and Steeler games.

I thought he was spot on. I started this season with the false belief that somehow the Bills would be able to skip the pain of rebuilding. It is more than evident right now that the rebuild is in process. While only time will tell I do think that the current front office and coaching staff are the right mix to get the job done.

That's what the article said.

I agreed a little with Tim's article. I agree with this one a lot more.

For all the critics of any related to Trent Edwards and how he was handled, this article puts it in the right perspective

... says it all and its the right sequence of events.

Could there actually be some sanity in the News' newsroom? If so, Bob is showing glimpses of it.

Thank you, Mr. DiCesare. Can you now go have a professional chat with Tim Graham?

Reasonable article but then I would have to disagree on benching Trent after just two games. If the logic was to keep him and let things play out, is two games against strong NFL defenses long enough? Who knows, maybe Trent would have put up good numbers against a very average Patriot defense too.

Seriously? After what we saw Trent do in two games? When was Trent going to throw the ball more than 3 yards? There is no freakin way Trent comes anywhere near what Fitz did.

With maybe one exception: Trent throws fewer INTs, but we lose the game by 30 points instead of 8.

If you can't bring yourself to throw the ball on 4TH DOWN, with no time left on the clock, down by only 5,.. when can you?

I am so glad that Trent is gone and I don't really care about how any reporter views it.

I agree ten fold. I have stated even before the season that they brought in Brohm to teach him the system and let him take over. They dont want to through him into a bad situation with a questionable offensive line to get hurt. They are building the team up and will put Brohm in to get a tatse of what he will be doing. Everyone keeps saying we will go after a qb next year, but I believe that we will have Brohm as our qb and get a o-lineman or a lb instead of a qb.

Please tell me when was the last time you were ecstatic about Edwards' play in a regular season game?

I'm sure there will be plenty of posters taking you up on the offer to remind you how the Bills are better off without Edwards as the season progresses. They were better off without him last Sunday.

Well-written and logical article, Bob.

I agree with the article. As far as benching Trent after two games maybe Gailey saw all he needed to see. As far as releasing him I bet it was mutual. Trent after being benched again kind of had his balls cut off as a leader and had no future with the team so let him go find another team where he gets a new start. I have nothing against the guy. I hope he can find success somewhere else and if he does good for him its no egg on the Bills face. It just was never going to happen for him here....

I don't have to wait. I'll give it to you now. The Bills are head and shoulders better on offense without Trent Edwards. Fitzpatrick is an average QB and the offense was 10 times better last year with him than Edwards. Same result last week. The same offense, with the same O-line was 10 times better without Edwards at the helm. What more evidence do you need? This team clearly performs better on offense without Trent Edwards.

So, the definition of decisive is to spend all spring and summer evaluating tape and watching a guy in practice and focusing on the good things he had done deciding he was The Man going into the season even to the point that no new competition was brought in; and, then after two bad performances in the new offense against a pair of good NFL defenses, games where the coach himself admitted he made some mistakes in his game plan, to bench him and then cut him before the "bye" week. How do you go from spending months with a guy trying to coach him up to making a decision in a week that you never want to work with the guy again and not even as a disaster QB?

You know, I remember another regime change in Buffalo not so long ago that came in to a situation with a huge QB issue and they made a decision within a week or so (quite quickly) of taking the job as to which QB they were going with and let the other one go. Half (more?) the fans were pissed by the decision and the move didn't really work out, not that any QB moves in recent memory in Buffalo have worked out but that's another story. I wonder if they had kept Flutie, let the controversy continue to rage all off-season, and then cut Rob Johnson (or vice versa) after 2 games if people would be saying that Gregg Williams and Tom Donahoe had been decisive.

Good article !! I think he hit the nail right on the head unlike the rest of the national media

They all just need a wipping boy & the Bills are it . I think they really hate to see us do anything to better the team & no matter what we do it won't be right in their eyes until we start winning !!!
