In fact, when Shanahan took Clarett in the 3rd round in 2005, the great majority of people whose opinions count thought it was a waste of a draft pick. He had weight issues and all sorts of character issues. My recollection of Clarett was that he was a pretty good player as a freshman. Everything seemed to fall apart after that with numerous off the field incidents. I can't imagine any NFL team having an interest in the guy. But of course, all it takes is one team.
