So, do the Raiders need to upgrade there stadium? What about the Vikings? 49ers are supposedly going to put a vote out there, referendum (whatever) for a stadium in Santa Clara. San Diego is considering a downtown stadium?

everyone you mentioned is in a less favorable position as the bills.

It is unlikely stimulus money would be used to build a domed stadium in Buffalo; however, stimulus money can be used for infrastructure projects that would complement a stadium being built. This would entail improving the surrounding highways, a demolition of old buildings. This would create local jobs which WNY needs. Then with a mix of private and state funds you could build a dome stadium which could be used for Bills Football, Concert promotions, state championships, trade shows and other stuff. If the stadium is right near the Falls you have a an established tourist area with the capacity to draw in events. This could be the spark the Buffalo area needs to reinvent itself. As many have already said, it makes too much sense.

very smart and fair post ... +1 DC

from what I read, Minneapolis-St. Paul, the local pols and business put together a proposal for a rather extraordinary looking stadium, but the Vikings' ownership isn't very keen on it.

I do find it funny that LA would make a push for a team, yet the three franchises in that state all have stadium "issues".

i think its actually more the league, rather than L A per se. i know the league will not admit that, but we all know they want a team there strictly for the T V ratings. its all about advertising revenue based on market size, all that mumble . again, i do not think buffalo has to worry. the stadium can, and will if need be, upgraded. there is money to buy it from ralph. i just think the negativity that the media thrives on, gets the masses worked up, is just causing worry, worry that is manifesting itself into a sense of possible reality that should not exist

OK I am purely spouting my ignorance on the whole West NY Buffalo area so my question is how far is Niagara Falls from Buffalo and its metro area. I am only asking the question because if in some weird world the Bills get a combo of league, private, and public funds to finance a stadium (Probably not a dome I am sorry but it would be really expensive to build a dome or a retractable dome) how far would the stadium in Niagara be from Buffalo and Orchard Park.

It seems like pairing the Niagara draw plus moving the stadium site to an area closer to Toronto would be the best of both worlds as long as it still remains somewhat close to where the Buffalo/current fans currently are. But still as long as Ralph is the owner I just don't see Buffalo going outside of the Ralph.

You are right....the Canadian side as great hotels entertainment, things to do restaurants, great views. It is a great tourist attraction.....top 10 in North America...I believe top 6 overall in terms of millions of visitors. Niagara Falls NY unfortunately is a dump although they are slowly getting things done....it makes sense geographically as the So Ontario fans would feel even more connected to the team. You would still get all the Rochester fans as well and obviously he same Buffalo fans. NF is about the same distance from Buffalo as OP.

And why is our side squandered so much, I wonder?

It's 20 miles from downtown Buffalo to the Falls. And despite Chalkie's insistence that it's inaccessible from Buffalo there are several roads in. It would cut travel time for Toronto fans by at least 30 minutes. Plus locating it in Niagara Falls puts the stadium into an established tourist area. True, the US side blows compared to the CAN side but a new domed stadium (it HAS to be a dome IMO) can do a lot to renovate the USA side.
