Unsubstantaiated Rumor about Trent Edwards

Maybe he just sucks. Maybe he can't get any better. I think people have overrated his potenetial. He NEVER really lit it up. We had been watching Losman, so in comparision Edwards looked "promising". Yes, if he had continued to get better he might have been good. But he didn't. Lots of QB's don't. They end up as backups, guys that know the playbook really well.

Holcolmb. Yep, he is Holcomb over again.

you cant compare one concussion to another--just like you cant compare one herniated disc or one heart problem with another--too many variables...I will grant you that teams gameplanned him --good point...But still a big reason for his drop in play was the affect of the concussions. The Cleveland game last year was a prime time example....and Cleveland doesnt gameplan for anyone--they write their plays on a napkin.

His best game last year was the game immediately AFTER he came back from the concussion. Individual or not, concussions don't work that way.

most QBs improve with time...Trent has spiralled downhill since his concussion. He is a shell of what he was out there his rookie and early second season. Yeah he sucks now...but he had potential to be an above average starter in this league. No more.--And Jauron didnt help him at all either. combo of bad things

Most QBs improve with time. Yeah, JP Losman for example. Dennis Shaw for another. JaMarcus Russell for another

That statement just plain isn't true. If there is a statement that is true about QB growth, it would be something more like "QB growth is greatly individual and it follows an almost unlimited number of paths." Or perhaps "Young QBs, or most of them anyway, are greatly inconsistent."

One of the most common career paths is for a guy to be inconsistent, good for a while, then bad, back and forth, then lose confidence in himself and plummet. Which is just what Trent's career looks like. A few even look like that and recover. Who knows, Trent could be one of those, too.

Maybe TE is just not a winner. I am not a personal expert or wanna be GM. But out of any position, I think it is very important to look at a QB win/loss record in college. QB who were loosers in college tend to be loosers in the pro's and vice versa. This statement is not perfect and someone is going to prove me wrong with an example. I can live with that. I just think there is something to be said about people who win ball games in college. And are competive for national championships or conference championships. Can anyone think of a QB ala, TE or Jay Cutler who was a perineal looser in college who were great in the pro's? There are many QB who win in college and cannot make it in the pros. I just think hanging your hat on a proven looser is not the best option.

Adrian Wilson cracked TEs head like a coconut. He has not been the same since that hit.

Before that hit, players like Lee were saying how just having TE on the team and in the huddle gave them confidence that the game could be won even down late in the fourth quarter. Back when we were 5-1.

Never been said since.

I definitely agree with this. This gets overlooked. Darn shame.

He looked like the next coming of Joe Montana before the concussion. I love all these people that downplay the effects of his concussion. Like they're doctors who can brush off the severity of a head injury. None of us were calling him a backup before Adrian Wilson took him out. What nonsense.

File this in the rumor pile. All my family lives in the SF/Oakland Bay area. One of them told me Trent isn't playing because of a concussion and that he's being checked out by a specialist. I told him that he got the concussion weeks ago but he thought it was more recent than that. Now I don't know if this has any merit. The one thing I know is its more likely to come out of Northern California, since he's from Los Gatos & went to Stanford than Buffalo the way the Bills keep everything from the WNY media.

If this is true, it might explain why he seemed to get worse as the game went on in Tennessee, especially if the latest concussion came in the Tennessee game. It was awfully odd to see him get pulled at the end last week.

I highly doubt this is true. If Trent suffered another concussion what is the point of keeping it a secret? To protect his late 7th round trade value?

Is anything listed on the injury report?

My thought is that Jauron may have caught wind before the game that if his team lost then he was going to be fired and benching Trent was his last ditch effort at saving his toilet dwelling career.

Don't embellish the effects of the concussion while attacking others for diminishing it.

5-1 was a total mirage last season, what is the Bill's record against playoff teams? teams with a winning record? It was all par for the course.

Trent's career mirrors that of Dick Jauron, pure mediocrity. He'll destroy a bottom feeder and be made to look stupid against slightly competent teams.

Probably the most ridiculous thing I have ever read here and that says alot. I suppose you think Lynch is the next coming of Walter Payton and Poz is L.T. in his prime.

Maybe he sucks and the concussion has nothing to do with his regression, though, I disagree, I have to respect people's opinion.

When you say people I hope you include non Bills fans. I do check from time to time the KFFL boards to get a pulse on other teams fans and they were all saying at the time that he should be considered MVP for those 6 first games in 2008. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that in some posts. They all said the team looked a lot better with his command.

We can all agreet that, even if you liked the guy, he's likely done here in Buffalo.

He never looked like the next coming of Joe Montana before the concussion. The exact same problems he had before he has now. He doesn't read defenses well, he doesn't look off receivers, he's too quick to check down, he doesn't throw down the field with any consistency, he doesn't react well to a strong rush, he doesn't trust his receivers to go up and get the ball. And he's injury prone. That was all before and that is all after.

He's not playing because he sucks. He cannot read defenses and only throws to wide open receivers. He is not an NFL quality QB. Let's stop with the concussion excuse and call a spade a spade. Trent sucks. Next.

Feel better?

That's rather mean spirited especially if he is having problems due to the concussions. We don't know.

Why is it mean spirited? Seems every time Trent's play slips it's due to a concussion, both real and if needed to cover up reality, 'phantom' ones.

Completely agree.

Considering that this is only Trent's 3rd year, he still has 1 year left on his deal, and he will most likely be dealing with his 4th offensive coordinator in what will be 4 seasons, not to mention the horrid state of the offensive line, and it is clear that he is not getting much of an opportunity to not only learn the position, but become successful.

He is not the same player since that hit last year against Arizona. Not sure what that means, but he is not the same QB.

Our offensive woes have been a combination of bad O-line play, inexperienced OC, concussions and bad QB play. Is the bad QB play a reflection of everything else, in my opinion it is, but it still boils down to our QB play sucks.

I do agree with the premise some QB's can rise above the situation and succeed, others can't and so far TE hasn't been able to, so I can understand why everyone has given up on him.

I still believe there's hope for TE, but I'm not going to all out war defending him anymore because you guys might be right. Regardless of what caused TE to spiral downward and out of control, he may never come back from it.
