Sherry L. Johnston, the mother of Bristol Palin’s fiancé, was arrested Thursday night on drug charges. Johnston was arrested at her Wasilla home and charged with six felony drug counts. Alaska state troopers then searched the Johnston home for further evidence of narcotics. They already are de facto divided. The Kurds are a semi-autonomous region, and with our occupation, the Sunni and Shites that used to live together went back to ethnic fighting that resulted in segregated neighborhoods and cities. The fighting has died down in large part because they've pretty much settled on the divided territory. People who left their Sunni homes in mixed neighborhoods came back to find they were no longer welcome, with their homes occupied by Shites, and visa versa. Our military has even resigned itself to this reality by helping to build walls between different ethnic neighborhoods.

I agree that companies should reinvest record profits into improving their products and services, and not just handing it out as dividends and buying back stock like the oil companies did, or face a windfall tax, but if their fortunes turn and they are threatened with going out of business, then I support giving them LOANS if they have a business plan that shows how it will allow them to recover.

Franken would be an interesting addition to the Senate, bringing the traditional progressive viewpoint that Paul Wellstone had, but I still think Coleman will edge him out. I read that Gov. Pawlenty was looking into the legality of appointing a Senator if the election isn't resolved soon. There should be provisions in state elections to have runoffs if the vote is close and there's a 3rd party candidate that gets more than a certain percentage of votes, as was the case in Minnesota. Also, isn't it time that states did away with paper ballots that allow for this type of uncertainty?

I wish people would try to understand the science of global warming, that it doesn't mean it just gets hotter everywhere, but that it creates changes in the weather patterns and climate. But it's easier to go for the simplistic view that if it's not hotter, there's no global warming.

Think about the recruiting advantage Auburn would have had if they had hired a qualified black coach like Gill. For a black coach to go around the southeast and offer black athletes a chance to play for him at a major college could have made the difference between them going to Auburn and another school.
