Could Peyton Manning possibly be available?
Jerry Jabber replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The big worry is that with the Bills not having a 1st round pick, and the FA market for QB's is not the best. Manning would be a great stop gap QB for one to two years, who has the potential of taking the Bills to the Superbowl. -

The Bills. Pros: Potential championship-caliber defense, receiver Sammy Watkins, Rex Ryan at coach, deep-pocketed ownership that seems to be committed to winning, passionate fan base. NEW HEAD COACH: Rex Ryan! It's Official!

NEW HEAD COACH: Rex Ryan! It's Official!

He has wins against the Pats, especially a playoff win at Gillette stadium. The Jets defense has held the Pats offense to an average of 270 yards over the past four match ups. With keeping Schwartz and bringing in Greg Roman, I feel very confident that Ryan will have success in Buffalo. -

Yep, the last thing the Bills need are coaches that have been to the Superbowl, NFC Championship Games, and AFC Championship Games. We're doomed! -

NEW HEAD COACH: Rex Ryan! It's Official!

Looks like it will be Greg Roman as the OC: "The popular rumor floating around the NFL was that Ryan would bring Marc Trestman with him as his offensive coordinator. It appears that is not the case, according to Schefter, as Greg Roman, the 49ers OC, will be coming along with Rex. "The offensive coordinator Rex Ryan is most likely to bring with him to Buffalo is 49ers OC Greg Roman, per source." http://buf.scout.com/story/1500984-bills-to-make-rex-ryan-their-next-head-coach?s=24 -

I like the move. Sounds like Ryan will bring in a solid OC and keep Schwartz as the DC. The defense will continue to be good for years to come and the Bills will have a better OC. Ryan has had success against the Patriots, so that will be a big plus for the Bills. -
Why so negative after winning season?

The goal for anyone should be to be best, especially in sports. Setting a goal just to make it to the playoffs is a losers mentality. -
Unhappy 15th anniversary of the Music City Miracle

Our sports teams got major screw jobs all in about a 7 month period. The Sabres got the Brett Hull "No Goal" incident in June of 1999 during the Stanley Cup finals, then followed by the forward lateral in January 2000. -

A Football Life-Doug Flutie
Jerry Jabber replied to billsfaninky's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The main problem a lot of fans (including myself) was that the Bills did not play their best QB [Flutie] and the team lost because of it. Was Flutie a HOF NFL QB…No, but he was better than Johnson. For those that would disagree with that point, look at the win-loss record of both QB's when they were on the Bills. Flutie won over 20 games as a starting QB for the Bills while Johnson didn't even have 10 wins as a starter. -

They had a segment on the Music City Nightmare on NFL AM this morning. As soon as they started showing the footage from that play, I switched channels. "Everytime I would hear the Coach (on WGR) or people here claim RJ left the field leading, I cringe……" I'm the same way. Johnson was garbage for 58 minutes of that game and played good on that final drive, but that seems to be the only thing people remember from that game. -

+1 I agree. It seems like the goal for the Bills is just to make it to the playoffs, while the goal should be to win the Super Bowl. -
Tim Graham's interview on Buffalo Rumblings
Jerry Jabber replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It seemed like Brandon wanted to try something the Bills haven't done before with hiring a coach from the college ranks, instead of doing a thorough search of all the candidates at the time. IMO, Lovie Smith was the best candidate at that time as he had a winning record in Chicago and took his team to the Super Bowl. The hindsight pick is Bruce Arians as he had two winning records in his first two seasons in Arizona, plus a playoff berth. -

We can thank Marrone for hiring Pettine, then Schwartz to replace him. And that's about it. -

Once the uncertainty of who the Head Coach will be has been resolved will determine the mood in here. -
Tim Graham's interview on Buffalo Rumblings
Jerry Jabber replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You're missing the point, Brandon went on emphatically two years ago that the Bills would do an exhaustive coaching search by which they would leave no stone unturned, but only interviewed about three candidates. From what Graham is saying, once Brandon and Nix interviewed Marrone, they basically stopped searching for other candidates, so in essence Brandon contradicted himself when he made that statement. The coaching search that the Pegula's are doing now is an exhaustive coaching search where they are leaving no stone unturned, which is what Brandon and Nix should have done two years ago. Tim Graham stated in his interview that Marrone's agent did a great job of marketing Marrone as well as hyping him up like he was this hot commodity that many NFL teams coveted, but in essence, Marrone was a .500 coach (meaning average) and there wasn't a market of teams vying for Marrone's services. IMO, that's duping a team. For your other points, I agree with you about the "opt out" clause as there were a lot of uncertainties with taking the job. To me, it's not that big of a deal. The big deal to me was Brandon ranting and raving about how the Bills image has been tarnished, and he was going to leave no stone unturned, but only interviewed a few people for the job. -

Graham did mention that Marrone's agent did a great job of hyping Marrone up (by stating the Browns were very interested in him) when the Bills were interviewing him which is why Nix/Brandon were sold on him, even though he was about the second or third coach they interviewed at that time. So, that exhaustive/leave no stone unturned search that Brandon talked about two years ago was a bunch of garbage as they were infatuated with Marrone after his interview, as well as being duped by Marrone's agent. I think what the Pegula's are doing is very smart as they are new to the game and they want to make sure they are making the right move for the franchise. -

According to Graham's interview, Marrone would read posts on twitter from reporters and would chew out the reporters for anything he deemed as negative. -

If you have 37 minutes, I recommend listening to this interview with Tim Graham of the Buffalo News. According to Graham, the Pegula's were P.O.'d at Marrone the he wanted a contract extension for him and his staff, and did not offer him a contract extension; Marrone was not a nice person, he read everything on the internet and would chew reporters out for things that they posted; Terry Pegula will pick the next HC, Whaley is doing the coordination on the search, Brandon is sitting in just as an advisor, Overdorff is not involved in the HC search. http://www.buffalorumblings.com/videos/2015/1/7/7499869/video-buffalo-bills-head-coach-search-tim-graham -

Scathing article in NY Daily News on Marrone
Jerry Jabber replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've got no doubt's about it's accuracy either. I'm glad someone stated all the negative facts about Marrone and I hope it impact him in the future. I'm just curious as to why someone like Graham, Buscgalia, Sullivan, Carucci, Gleason, etc… didn't write something like this after Marrone quit on this team?
