I seen you guys are practicing
Jerry Jabber replied to Jimmy Spagnola's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Jimmy, Happy belated birthday! I hope all is well! I know Rex had success his first two years with the Jets, then bottomed out. Was it more because the GM didn't give him all the tools he needed (players, coaches, etc...) or did other teams figure out his style? Also, can you point out things that Rex did very well and things that weren't so good. In regards to the Bills, they in fact hired a great coaching staff. I'm really excited to see what Greg Roman will do for the offense. Roman's offenses in SF were in the Top 5 the last three years as he ran a run heavy offense, which he will do with McCoy. No one here is expecting any of the Bills QB's to be a Top 10 QB, just an Alex Smith type QB (game manager who will not lose you the game). With having the #4 ranked defense and the #2 ranked special teams, I can see the Bills playing deep into January with all the talent they loaded up on offense: McCoy, Harvin, Watkins, Woods, Charles Clay, Jerome Felton, Fred Jackson. The Bills will surprise a lot of people in the NFL this year. Gailey was a good OC and I wished the Bills had him here last year running the offense (just not the whole team). I'm glad Marrone is gone as he played an ultra-conservative offense. Todd Bowles was a great DC for Arizona, so we'll see how he does as HC. I know people here in Buffalo questioned Mike Pettine and how well he would do as DC without Ryan before he came to the Bills, so we'll see how well Bowles does without Arians. Jets look to have a very impressive defense, but if you guys are going with Geno Smith, then you could finish like the Bills did last season 9-7 and missing the playoffs. Jimmy, P.S.: J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS...S-U-C-K SUCK SUCK SUCK!!! Just busting your balls, but the Jets chant is annoying! -
Dareus Suspended for Game 1 of 2015 Season
Jerry Jabber replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
"Spice" Why do you think it is called ‘spice’?? Dareus was just looking to add a little kick to his food and accidentally grabbed the wrong type of spice from his friend. He had no idea it was a drug or illegal. While driving home, he started to feel a little odd and was ecstatic to find a nice police officer to help him out before anything bad happened. The NFL should have warned Dareus before that it was illegal to use synthetic marijuana. It's a sting operation! The NFL hates the Bills. -

Is the Flutie Curse over with?
Jerry Jabber replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Promo, I'm not saying Flutie was the best QB nor am I making up every excuse in the book for him, I'm just stating what I saw in the Miami playoff game. Flutie was a good game manager, but he was not an elite QB. So what if the Bills were only winning games by a few points, a win is a win regardless of the score, but that was not good enough for fans like you. In order for Flutie to be widely accepted by everyone, he had to score 30+ points a game, every game. Johnson sucked for 58 minutes in the Titans, was 10 for 22 with around 100 yards passing, sacked six times (one for a safety). So what, he played good for 2 minutes of the game, but he left 16 seconds on the clock which was more than enough for the Titans to win the game. -

Promo, I watched that video and saw Doug Flutie have in arm in throwing motion and Trace Armstrong dive helmet first into his armpit. I don't care who you are, every QB would have fumbled being hit the way Armstrong did to Flutie. Second point, it wouldn't have come down to that if Moulds didn't hotdog his route and would have scored a TD, but instead he got the ball knocked out from behind, or if Reed wouldn't have gotten a personal foul penalty& ejected for hitting the ref with the ball, so the ball went from 1st & goal at the goaline to 1st @ goal at the 15. With four tries from the goal line, the BIlls would've scored a TD, but instead, they had to settle for a FG. But I know, all you Flutie haters want to concentrate on the last play of the game instead of all the other factors that took place during the game. Please tell me how great Johnson played in the playoff game vs the Titans? -

People also forget the Moulds fumble & the personal foul penalty against Reed by which he hit the ref in the back with the ball because the ref didn't give him a TD and he got ejected from the game. -

Johnson was great at coming off the bench and playing great for one game, just too bad he couldn't have played that way consistently. -
Patriots fire Jastremski and McNally
Jerry Jabber replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I hope so. Hopefully we'll see them on 60 Minutes, ESPN, NFL network... -
"If these two guys are so innocent, why did the Patriots fire them? So, these two guys are completely misunderstood, a pair of hapless innocents who didn’t want to get busted for lifting shoes and just wanted to drop a few pounds. Why then would the Patriots move so quickly and decisively to distance themselves?" http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/

Good one DC Tom, has Buffalo been cursed since 1901? -

I do believe the Bills will be better, mainly because of two people, Kim and Terry Pegula. -
In January 2000, then Buffalo Bills owner, Ralph Wilson, made the call to then Bills HC Wade Phillips to have Rob Johnson become the starting QB for the Bills in the playoffs after he saw Johnson play well in a meaningless game 16 for the Bills. Former starting Bills QB, Doug Flutie was told by Phillips that he was only being benched for game 16 so he was rested for the playoffs, only to have the rug pulled out from underneath him and be benched in favor of Johnson, who made his career by coming off the bench and playing great for one game. That playoff game vs the Titans ended in a very controversial call by which Bills fans felt their team got robbed of a victory as it appeared that Titans TE Frank Wycheck threw an illegal forward pass on a kick return. That game was the last time the Bills have appeared in the playoffs. It’s been over 15 years since the Bills last playoff game and some fans have called the Bills long playoff drought the “Flutie Curse.” If you believe in sports superstitions, such as the “Curse of the Bambino” by which many Boston Red Sox fans believed since the Red Sox traded away Babe Ruth to the Yankees was the reason why the Red Sox had a 86 year drought between World Series championships, then Bills have to ask themselves this question, “Is the Flutie Curse over with now since the Bills have new owners?”

Charley Casserly feels the Pats got off easy
Jerry Jabber replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
NoSaint, I based that off of what Ray Farmer got as well as athlete's being suspended for using PED's to gain an illegal advantage. Also, in regards to penalties to multiple infractions, I feel if any employer that tells their employee to fully cooperate with an investigation and they refuse, then there should be penalties levied against that employee. -
I agree with Casserly that the Pats got off easy. IMO, Brady should have been suspended for eight games: four for his role in trying to gain an illegal advantage and four for not cooperating with the investigation. If Browns GM Ray Farmer gets a four game suspension for texting the sideline during the game, then why is Brady only getting a four game suspension when he had two violations? Also, Sean Payton was suspended for a year even though he had no knowledge of Gregg Williams' bounty program, but Belichek gets nothing, especially since it's been the second time the Patriots were caught cheating. That is a double standard!! http://www.nfl.com/videos/new-england-patriots/0ap3000000492237/Casserly-Patriots-got-off-easy

If the suspension holds up, the Patriots could start the season 1-3.

Brady to be SUSPENDED next week according to report
Jerry Jabber replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
http://www.wgr550.com/REPORT-Brady-to-be-suspended-next-week/21489432 Great point! IMO, Brady should be suspended at least for eight games: four for trying to gain an illegal advantage with deflated balls and four for no cooperating with investigators.
