Programming note: Larry Felser on WECK 1230
bladiebla replied to Lori's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Linky didnt work for me; went to http://www.weck1230.com/ and clicked listen live and in business... \o/ just fyi if others have the same issue. -
Kawika is definetly making a good point; it's tough to view the game as a business through the eyes of a fan though.
-
If you are going to bash at least try to have your facts in order; he's only been one full season with the Bills.

Actually I try not to be biased at all. Never did I judge Fitz his performance in the hof game. I even believe this was the first comment I made about Hamdan his performance versus Fitz. Here's the breakdown; http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter?game_id=5472...9&week=PRE0 Fitz drive 1 starting o-line in starting position: Buffalo 9 passing:0/0/0 running:2/2 sacks:1 penalty yards:0 net yards:2 Play calling: run-run-pass first downs:0 score:0 Hamdan drive 1 not sure on the o-line starting position: Buffalo 24 passing: 1/1/6 running: 2/3 sacks: 0 penalty yards: 0 net yards: 9 Play calling: run-run-pass first downs: 0 score:0 Fitz drive 2 mix of second unit and starting unit o-line starting position: Tennessee 43 passing:4/2/12 running:5/21 sacks:0 penalty yards: 0 net yards: 33 Play calling: run-pass-pass-pass-run-run-run-run-pass first downs:2 score:0 Hamdan drive 2 mix of third-second stringers o-line starting position: Buffalo 32 passing: 7/5/41 running: 1/3 sacks:0 penalty yards: -10 net yards: 34 Play calling: pass-pass-run-pass-pass-pass-pass-pass first downs: 2 score: 3 Fitz drive 3 not sure on o-line starting position: Tennesse 43 passing:5/3/30 running:2/6 sacks:0 penalty yards: +5 net yards: 41 Play calling: pass-run-pass-pass-run-pass-pass first downs:2 (1 by penalty) score:3 Hamdan drive 3 mix of third-second stringers o-line starting position: Buffalo 15 passing: 7/5/42 running: 3/1 sacks:0 penalty yards: -10 net yards: 33 Play calling: pass-pass-run-pass-pass-pass-pass-pass first downs: 3 score: 0 Fitz drive 4 not sure on o-line starting position: Buffalo 37 passing:3/2/18 running:1/0 sacks:0 penalty yards: +15 net yards: 33 Play calling: pass-run-pass-pass first downs:1 score:3 To me it looked like Fitz was getting decent protection where as Hamdan was getting no protection at all and was under constant pressure, in all honesty I havent seen Fitz his 4th drive since and cant remember his 3rd drive for the live of me; i fell asleep during his 3rd drive to wake up right in time for Hamdan his first snap. Hence I didnt join into the judging Fitz versus Hamdan discussions. What I've seen of Fitz was that he looked nervous and very much the sheep in a fox it's burrow. However Hamdan did look very much in control with good pocket awareness, strong leadership, and good time buying skills, he seemed to get everything out of what he was given. He looked the pro amongst amateurs. Now the question is will Hamdan be able to perform the same when playing against the second stringers as Fitz did. I believe he does, but the proof isnt out there. If it were a qb battle which I believe it isnt, I'd give this round to Hamdan for sure. But what people shouldnt forget is that Fitz is still new to system and has only been through the otas and 12 practises. In that light I think Fitz did an ok job, but lacked the radiation of being the offensive leader a quarterback is. We'll see how Fitz progresses thoughout the preseason. Also it would be interesting to see how both would perform given enough time to make the deeper throws. As a coach I'd invest into playing both my 2nd and 3rd qb for one drive each with the starting unit, that way if your number 1 qb goes down they will have had at least (sure it's minimal) 1 drive under starting conditions and more importantly it would also give me as a coach a solid comparision between my 2 backups.

The Definition of Insanity……

You simply cant expect the players not to quit on you and then quit yourself. Maybe New England* is more your style? They surely welcome their fair wheather fans with open arms. -
Baker had the suicide throw to him., and seriously if you werent able to see the differnce between Baker and Hamdan then euhrm..
-
Fitz covered less ground then Hamdan did, Fitz got the ball in far better spots then Hamdan plus Fitz had penalties in his favor where as the o-line got 2 or 3 holding penalties against with Hamdan and Fitz had far better protection then Hamdan.

Buffalo Rumblings 53 man roster
bladiebla replied to ohiobuffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I dont see us keeping 4 te's and going without FB, so Stupar to PS and McIntyre in. Then Youboty and Wendling are also set to make the roster, likely victims would be Corto and Buggs. -
I know, i know, the pre-season record doesn't matter, simply because both teams are experimenting with personell and as a result you arent getting a honest competitive matchup. However to not even try the attempt to take it away for a home crowd and in the game that is there to pay homage to 2 of your inductees especially when you received the coaching version of a wedgie, can't be healthy. So what if you put in your starters versus their 3rd stringers/camp fodder, should be great practise in getting in that quick and easy TD. In soccer the proteams often practise versus amateurs in order to achieve a maximum shootout, build team chemistry whilst having fun. The last drive in the 4th quarter caould have been used easily for that. Then go back into the lockerroom and build a positive vibe out of that. Then again these are all pro athletes, even the camp fodder guys, they live to win. Yet the 2007 Giants took the superbowl as a team not by being the best of the best but purely on attitude, same can be said about the Ravens with the Lewis SB win.
-
He was laughing because of self achievement, a.k.a. laughing the rookie pulled it off in such a great manner. The commentators said fisher had been talking about executing this play for years. I dont think was laughing at the expense of the Bills fans, if that were the case he would have been in totally the wrong mind set.
-
That hits the nail for me exactly. If you get abused like that you keep your starters in and abuse him to hell and back, or put your starters back onto the field in the 4th quarter. Or in anyway you do what it takes to take revenge. The nonsense that preseason games dont matter is exactly the attitude that keeps you out of the playoffs let alone superbowl. As a coach your job is to win, winning in a league like this where quality is about equal across the board begins with installing a winning mentality and that starts with giving it your all each and every game even if you'd be playing a pewees team. Winning is about attitude foremost, quality is second to attitude. I hear Dick say "we obviously wanted to win", followed by a but in the most boring and emotionless tone. That sentence makes me hungry to give him a motivational slap... Coaching is all about attitude control, the fun factor as x factor is a driving motivator for succesfully installing a positive attitude as a good example. If you are having fun in your line of work aren't you doing more then when you are just trying to get to 5 o'clock?

bills possibly interested in vick

What's the obsession with Vick to start with? He's a runningback that can complete a pass half the time he tries? He kinda is the reversed Wildcat, instead of having the runningback throw you have the quarterback run. Don't we have enough quality at runningback allready? -
I say twitter him about it!

Bowen's Big Hit Overshadowed By Mike Vick
bladiebla replied to VJ91's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hear, hear, the interviews were very annoying to say the least. I mean why the hell do they have to show them, let me see the field, i'll listen with my ears... -
Positives: -. o-line looks better then last year with regards of giving the quarterback time to throw/protection. -. Edwards looked sharp -. Omon may make the transistion to NFL level -. Run blocking by the defense was great Negatives: -. Pass defense was terrible -. Fitz was lucky to get good production out of Omon else he'd gone 3 and out on every drive -. 3rd team o-line is non existing -. Hall, Hawthorn and Baker look like sure cuts based on their performance
-
Hmmm is it me or Hamdan basicly playing without o-line?
-
Amsterdam Arena and Franktfurt Galaxy stadium were 100-120Db environments (Admirals fans used air horns and Galaxy used soccer referee whistles).
-
Cut the run, let Hamdan throw!

Awesome this european guy bows deeply in gratitude.
