What a beautiful sight...
Bleed Bills Blue replied to devldog131's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ha ha, you're right about both things. If she needs a seat to the game this week, she can have mine...of course I'll be using it, too. -
This situation has become a major test of wills. From what I've read here, the Bills have made it pretty clear that they would negotiate when he shows up, but any additional money to Peters will be paid after this year, going forward...not this year..which makes sense, because how can they unlock the vault for him right now when they've haven't even finished the Evans deal (which has taken months)? Yeah, I thought he'd report by now, but it's now looking like it will be later this season. What's the Parker/Peters strategy at this point in the game? 1) The less I play this year, the less I expose myself to a career-ending injury and the loss of a big payday. After the way last season ended, I know first-hand the real possibility of this happening. 2) As long as I report by the tenth week of the season I'll get credit for the year. If I only play in 4 or 5 games this year I'll achieve my first objective (staying healthy) while at the same time taking the first steps towards free agency. I'll be fresh and will play my butt off in those games to keep my value high. 3) While I don't wish bad things for my buds, I know the Bills are thin on the line. There's a chance they'll pay me rather than scour the waiver wire if a rash of injuries should occur. 4) I'm confident that I'll be paid or traded eventually, if not this year, then next. When they see I mean business they'll do one or the other. No way they'll string me along for three years when they could get something in return. My agent has run the numbers, and no matter what the fines and lost game checks, I still come out way ahead doing this. If something like this is their strategy (and, I know, it assumes he's 100%), what is the best response by the Bills for the overall good of the team in the near and long term? Am I right in thinking that Peters can creep out from under his contract eventually by making himself available for only six games every year? Could the Bills go after his signing bonus if he does this? If he doesn't see the field in three years he's not gonna be worth much, but would the Bills really not play him in those games if he was available? I don't know the answers, but it's clear this mess is definitely entering a new phase.

Donte Whitner: "Emerging AFC Star"
Bleed Bills Blue replied to Lori's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ha, Johnson even changed his name this year cause he figured it would make it harder for Donte to find him on the field if he ever plays us again. -

If you've never done it with a girl on a swing before, I'd urge you to give it a try! A trapeze is also an interesting variation. -
Scout.com says Peters may be back monday

Well, you're not telling Mickey anything he doesn't already know and hasn't already commented on ad nauseum...but you do remind everyone of why most of us think he'll be reporting today...ok, maybe tomorrow after he spends today wiping barbecue sauce off his two chins. Halfway through the season, when we're 7-1 and thinking Super Bowl, I guarantee this holdout will be largely forgotten. Yes, most folks do have that short a memory. But it's possible Peters will have gotten his point across. At some point into his holdout, I think he realized the Bills weren't going to budge and that he wasn't getting a new deal this year. In that light, his continuing could only be to try to loosen up the Bills for next year. After all, from his point of view, why wouldn't they try to keep him on the old contract for yet another year? This would say (hopefully) that he's confident and expects to step in and play at another pro-bowl level this year (which wouldn't be bad, would it?). Yeah, we all hate him now, and if he's introduced with the starting offense this Sunday I'll be there booing him the loudest... BUT, the first time he crushes the competition and gives Trent the time he needs to connect with Lee for the game-winning touchdown...much, if not all, will be forgiven. -

I want to kish yooo Charisshhaa -
Seriously though, remember all those games where Kelly would fumble, like, five times in the first half, but then would just shake it off and come back and throw, like, fourteen touchdowns in the second? That's why he's in the HOF.

OMG!! "McKinney" and "McKelvin" are even closer!!

Winners and losers from tonights game?
Bleed Bills Blue replied to Steely Dan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Also at the game, and I have to agree with that description of the fumble...it was a real surprise to see it pop out. They weren't going for the ball, just a solid hit, but nothing spectacular. Wright saw the hit coming and appeared to have the ball covered up, but... A shame because I thought he was making good decisions and running pretty well last night (has been all pre-season). He was patient, showed good vision and kept finding holes for some positive yards, without a great deal of help. I also agree with this. That should be a coach-able defect. I think he makes the team. -

Peters holdout lacks a cheering section
Bleed Bills Blue replied to Mike32282's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well said, and quite right. Remember last year's pre-season, when the offense looked out of joint the whole way? Even Jauron commented after the final PS game that he wished the offense had more time to work things out. Guess what, the offense we saw during pre-season was the same offense we got all year long. By contrast, this year's offense has often looked sharp and confident, and has shown the ability to sustain long drives, a luxury last year's defense rarely enjoyed. It has also shown a knack for scoring touchdowns occasionally, rather than constantly settling for field goals. Remember, despite the lameness of the offense last year, we didn't need to convert all that many field goals to touchdowns to alter the outcome of a number of games we lost. I think this year's offense has already shown they have the potential to do just that. GO BILLS! -

LOL, Kelly, I think you transformed yourself into a fly and hung out on the wall in Peter's living room as he and Parker talked stategy. Nice job, forgive the slight editing on my part. Yup. -
I think there's one thing about JP...

A Few One Sentence Observations
Bleed Bills Blue replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The new O reinforces for me just how stinking bad Steve Fairchild was last year. I remember Josh Reed saying after a game last year he couldn't understand how they could be so bad with the talent they had. He knew. The ratio of talent to results last year was mystifying, but consider: Last night the first team looked pretty good With JP at QB W/o Peters on the line W/o James Hardy in the lineup Yeah, Turk stepped into a good spot, as almost anything will be a huge improvement over Stevie Blunder. That said, I get the feeling TS could be a smart, sound and creative OC in his own right. Hope he doesn't demand a new contract next year. -
If Peters doesn't show
Bleed Bills Blue replied to Not the real Gale Gilbert's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What's the big deal? All the Bills need to do to pay a huge signing bonus to JP is get off their lazy a$$es and sell a few dozen corporate luxury suites to prosperous Outer New York corporations. -
The numbers are no different than years ago. The league is simply filled with a bunch of girly whiners nowadays. Doc to Ronnie Lott: You need immediate surgery on that injured finger. Lott: What, miss the playoffs? Just amputate the damn thing.

Fine, so how about giving $6 cash to each spectator at the Ralph as they pass through the turnstiles on Opening Day...hey Jason, thanks man!

FINALLY PETERS MIGHT REPORT
Bleed Bills Blue replied to SAM HARRIS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bingo. One thing you can be sure of when it comes to Ralph Wilson: He will defend the overall, long-term interests of his team, as he sees them, with the ferocity of a bear sow defending her cubs. -

FINALLY PETERS MIGHT REPORT
Bleed Bills Blue replied to SAM HARRIS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fair enough, also. However, that last phrase, "he will get even better", tends to get repeated as though it were set in stone. The truth is something closer to "he may/should get better"; and this goes to my point, as past performance is the best indicator of future results. The NFL playing field is littered with sure things who never reached their potential. I think the most prudent course is to find the right balance between "promise" and "track record" (with the emphasis on track record). Also, if Schobel is on the "downside of his career", my guess is the Bills' brass is rightly confident that, in our system, the slope will be a long, gradual one. This will allow them to focus on other areas of need for a few years. I'm giving the FO some latitude in judging our own players here, of course...just ask Baltimore how that McGahee thing is going. -
