  1. I disagree. I think Cam Newton would because people watched him in college and know the type of excitement he can create. I wouldn't be happy if the Bills picked Cam, but I'd definitely be anxious to see what he can do. What has Gabbert ever done in college that would inspire any type of excitement? Would his out route throws at the combine really be enough to sell tickets?
  2. I don't think the issue is what they're biggest need is. Clearly they have a need for an upgrade at qb as well as every position on the front 7. The question is,do you get good value essentialy trading Dareus/Miller and 2nd rd qb (ponder, kapernick, or mallet) for Gabbert and best front 7 player available in rd 2. I honestly don't see it, the guy was not discussed by anyone as a top 5 pick during the season, he only threw 16 tds in 2010, and now because of his "measurables" he's gotten a lot of hype. I feel like I've seen this movie before and I don't like how it ends. Fitz is not gonna make us a contender, but he's good enough to keep us going in the right direction while we develop a second rounder. I'll be completely crushed if we take Gabbert.
  3. This is very true, but I think athleticism has a lot less to do with being a superstar qb in the nfl than the ability to read defenses. That's why a guy like fitz who always knows where to throw the ball, but doesn't necessarily have the strength or the accuracy to get it there is 100x better than a guy like losman who can make all the throws and make plays with his legs, but doesn't know what to do. In the NFL, every single player on the field is a freakish athlete and the defenses are much more sophisticated, so a qb with superior athleticism to everyone else that can't make reads will still get eaten alive. The reads in a spread option offense are extremely simple. Now, if Cam has the intelligence and dedication to learn how to be an NFL qb, he will absolutely be a superstar, but its gonna take at least a year for him to learn the pro game for him to get there.
  4. I was at that '06 game. Very typical of the '06-'08 bills wins, they got dominated at the line of scrimmage and had about half as many total yards as the pack. Favre gave us the game by a pick six to london fletcher and a pick to ko simpson in the endzone that he returned about 70 yds to packer territory. Ridiculous play calls on both as I believe they were on 1st or 2nd down and the packers were getting about 12 ypc (rough estimate) on the ground. The thing I remember the most from that game was there were literally thousands of packer fans there who were following Brett around to every single game for his "final season" in 2006.
  5. I don't think it's an accountability issue, it's just a bad business decision. Obviously fans are losing interest very early in the season, so explaining the moves and exactly what direction he's trying to take the team in, the players that we are trying to develop, the identity he's trying to establish for the future, etc, etc. might give some fans a reason to watch/come out to the games even if they realize that this is a lost season. If all people see is the terrible product and no hope for the future they're just gonna stop watching altogether before the halfway point of the season and that can't be good for business.
  6. Gotta disagree there. I think that even if you're chalking this season up as lost we'd be better off for the future seeing what a guy like antonio coleman can do then giving more time to Maybin. It's pretty clear he's never gonna be remotely good, when he's out there we're playing 10 on 11.
  7. So the coaching staff finally realized that Trint isn't an NFL player, when do they realize the same about Maybin? I know he's a high draft pick in his second year, but him being on the field is absolutely detrimental to the team. Just like Fitz being all we have behind Edwards, I know there aren't any superstars behind Maybin, but I think having someone in there who isn't a total screw up would do wonders.
  8. In all seriousness, I don't think that it's a coincidence that the two franchises who have made the worst personnel decisions this decade both have senile control freak owners.
  9. I officially gave up on Trent week 3 last year on the check down to frted jackson on 4th and 20. He has done nothing to redeem himself even a little bit since.
  10. So True. If Trent got realeased today (which he should) I gurarantee you another team wouldn't pick him up.
  11. I know this has been discussed in other threads. However, I was at the game today, and the fact is, Edwards is not an NFL qb. Chan Gailey did not call a bad game. He had Steve Johnson, Roscoe Parrish, and David Nelson wide open across the middle throughout the game. Trent would not throw them the ball. He's had enough time, we know what he is. The formations and the game plan were completely different from the past couple years, but Trent did the SAME THING. As long as Trent is the qb, we're not going anywhere. Watching him live is equivalent to Chinese water torture. I can't take it anymore. Get rid of this guy. Please. I'm begging you. I'm really really begging. Who's with me?!!!!!
  12. Very true. It's funny how you barely even hear about Welker getting pulled over with the dead hooker in his trunk anymore.
  13. That might not be that bad, depending on the meaning of the word "definantly"
  14. That's exactly the type of story Goodell would come up with
  15. My brother wore an OJ throwback to a game a few years ago. The responses were definitely mixed, but I remember there were some fans who adamantly disapproved.
  16. Traffic for nets games is a breeze though. Probably because I'm the only one there, but that's another story.
  17. I was watching, Mike and Mike were not giving their own opinion. They said something to the tune of, one of our insiders, and he probably won't want this quote attributed to him, said that Buffalo is the worst team he's ever seen. They were quoting one of their "people who know things", not giving their own opinion.
  18. that's some very thorough and detailed analysis. You should book a flight to vegas right now
  19. That makes me very very happy. Any time you see a line that the general public thinks is a joke, too good to be true, a lock, etc., they're wrong. Vegas doesn't give away money. This will be a close game. By the way, who the heck is that is that guy? I read a lot of gambling blogs/forums, and even ameteurs know that if you see a line that looks fishy you need to do extra analysis and find out the reason for it because the oddsmakers obviously know something you don't. I've never seen someone say "I can't figure this line out...SO TAKE ADVANTAGE". It just goes against general gambling logic. I might have to follow this guy closely so I can bet the opposite of his picks every week.
  20. I have to disagree with that statement. The big difference between the regular season and the preseason is game planning. This is especially big when you're dealing with a qb who doesn't use the whole field. Trent has always been able to hit check downs, outs, and deep balls down the sideline. In the preseason, teams aren't implementing a plan to take away those routes and force him to throw the 10-20 yard passes down the middle of the field. During the regular season, they will be. Last year was a sh** show in the preseason due to the no huddle garbage, but if you look at the bills/steelers preseason game from from two years ago, Trent looked awesome. Two TD passes to Robert Royal against the Steelers 1st d. Then the regular season came, the steelers had a historically good D and won the super bowl and the Bills were near the bottom of the league in offense and didn't beat a winning team all year (I know they started the year well, but it was against crap teams). Now given what we know about those two teams (the'08 Bills and the '08 Steelers), if Dick Lebeau is game planning for Edwards, is there any way that he has even moderate success in that game? I say absolutely not. And if you think that not having enough time is Trent's only problem, take a look at the Cleveland monday night game from a couple of years ago. They drop eight and force him to try to beat the zone. The result: pick city. Now I'm hoping against all hope that this is the year Trent figures it out, but I haven't seen anything this preseason that leads me to believe he will. All I've seen is him hitting the same type of passes he's always been able to hit because the defense isn't making a concerted effort to take them away. So, because of that, the preseason stats for Trent this year are 100% completely meaningless to me.
  21. When fans of other teams ask my about Trent Edwards I tell them that Bills fans are split. On one side, you have the fans who think Trent has shown the potential to be a solid starter in the league. On the other side, you have the fans that watch the games.
  22. It's just simple things like taking your first steps with the left foot or right foot, small things like that. It's nothing big."[/i] That's really not as easy as you make it seem. When you're more naturally comfortable doing things with the wrong technique and no one ever corrects you and you get into the habit of taking improper steps, it can be tough to correct. You can do all the drills you want, but when you get in a game situation, and there's a bunch of other things you have to remember, it takes a ton of focus to execute properly if you're not used to it.
  23. Not gonna happen, this is just like asante samuel and jason peters, he'll be back, hopefully missing camp slows him down though
  24. I have a funny story about Stupar that might explain his lack of playing time last season, take it for what it's worth. I was at a bar in hoboken watching the games last year wearing a Bills jersey. A group of guys yell go bills and I asked if they were from Buffalo. They said that they were from state college PA, but were good friends with Stupar (they were staying with a friend in Hoboken while in town for a bachelor party in NYC). I was saying how he looked promising in preseason and its a shame he got buried on the depth chart. They told me that his chances for playing time greatly decreased after he hooked up with Jauron's daughter. I assumed they were kidding around, but they went into some pretty vivid detail about it, and they all seemed to know the story. Not sure if its true, but I thought it was pretty hilarious.
