  1. It's hard to find starters in the NFL...
  2. Totally agree with this take...I've been saying all along that Marrone and Hackett are going to feel like kids in a candy store with all these QB's to evaluate and project...IF they go with Nassib out of all these guys, and that's a BIG if...You better believe they think he's the best option all things considered...And I've also felt all along that based on reasonable odds, with all the options after Geno Smith, chances are VERY good they would like at least one of these QB's more than Nassib...
  3. Agreed... I think the whole issue here is that the Bills, at least the Buddy Nix-led Bills, don't show the type of confidence it takes to make a move like this...They utilize the Draft like they are scared to miss out on a single guy...But history has shown us that, especially in the first few rounds, Buddy's targets were not always the right guy to begin with...So the moral of the story to me at least is...If you just stay put and Draft, you better Draft the right guy...
  4. I think the Dolphins moves bring some large question marks...Especially when you consider the players they lost, or cut...There is the potential for limited returns based on the money they spent and who they signed...I guess we'll see soon enough...
  5. I definitely agree with this Bro...It may take a year to really show up on the field...But at least The Bills seem to be showing they are no longer going to reward complete mediocrity...It seems like the freshest of the recent fresh starts at least...
  6. I'm guessing that (in general) NFL FO's that have a strong belief in their Scouting Dept, and their ability to find players are far more willing to risk trading down...If you have belief, more picks means more chances to hit a home run...There are very good NFL players Drafted well into the 2nd round on average...Sure the odds of finding a quality starter decline rapidly as you move down, but I think the good FO's don't worry about that as much if they think it's the right time to do it... Admittedly I'm unsure of the statistics on this theory... And just to throw my meaningless 2 cents into this...If The Bills did trade down I think it allows them better flexibility so they can take a QB with their 1st pick...I've said for a while if Geno is gone I would like to see them bail out of #8 and get the best deal they can...Then take a QB wherever they end up in the 1st...I know there is risk involved...But that's just me...
  7. This single post may set the record for calling a bust!!! It's what? 42 days away from the Draft? And they say you need at least 3 years to know for sure... Seriously though, hype or not you're going to be hard pressed to find Scouts or talking heads out there who don't feel Smith is the #1 QB in this Draft...There are some for sure...I know Russ Lande likes Nassib best...I think Charles Davis likes Barkley a bit more...But the vast, and I mean really vast, majority of "experts" believe Smith is clearly the top rated QB in 2013...There are even some who feel there is a sizable gap between Geno and the next QB after him...Whoever that next QB may be...Geno may very well become a bust after a few NFL seasons...It happens...But he's not being over-hyped...His physical tools and general make-up give him a very high ceiling...He's the best QB in this Draft class according to most...And QB is King...
  8. I don't think so...Especially not the Colt McCoy thing...And I'm not a huge Nassib guy either... But the truth is all of these kids have positives and negatives...Nassib shows control of an Offense...I think his arm is definitely good enough (much better than McCoy's)...He's an intangible guy...He's not going to blow any one away with his athletic ability, but that's not his game... If the Bills settle for Nassib I'll be OK with it...Though I would prefer Geno or EJ Manuel...I don't see any reason why Nassib can't succeed in the NFL in a system built around his abilities...And I think he's a kid who will get better and better if you can keep his confidence growing...
  9. Well clearly he was referring to the 28.8% of Geno's passes that were incomplete...
  10. I think it was due to his extension which runs through 2015...Another bad season in 2013 and he's done for sure...
  11. So I'm going to go out on a limb and guess you don't understand the smilely huh?
  12. Brady can't make him look good? He had over 1000 yds including the Playoffs...And it's not like it's easy to get the ball consistently in that offense considering the way they spread it around...I think Lloyd looked darn good against The Bills...Of course who doesn't?...But still...I'd take Lloyd in a half-a-heartbeat...
  13. Well...The Lions do have Stafford, Suh, and Megatron...So they sure as heck have some pieces to work with from bottoming out.... But I'm guessing the OP is thinking about the potential QB Draft Class of 2014...Which figures to be pretty special if the underclassmen declare...If the Bills were to bottom out the odds are good that 2013 would be the year to do it...I think though...somehow, some way...The Bills will figure out a way to win 5-6 games in 2013 and screw themselves out of bottoming out...
  14. The Bills need more picks...They don't need to give up any...Kolb is a UFA...I don't think either is a long-term solution...So I would say Kolb...
  15. You know...I'm not 100% sold on him either Sisyphean...Manuel comes with a buyer beware tag no question...He's going to have get Coached up, and his down-the-field accuracy has to improve...But when I watch Manuel on tape I definitely see some Kapernick-type qualities...And I think if you look at their Sr years passing-wise, Manuel and Kaepernick are actually very similar...The difference being that Manuel played some slightly better competition...Also, I really like Manuel's win-loss record as a Starter... One last thing about Manuel I found on Sports-Reference.com...He's the all time single season leader in the ACC for yards per play...He's 2nd all time in the ACC for career yards per play...I like that stat...
  16. Well...The only fair way to compare Fitz to Kolb would be to take Kolb's career at this point in comparison to Fitz career after his first 6 seasons in the NFL...Factually under that microscope they are similar... Through his first 6 seasons Fitz had 36 starts...He was 679-1175 (57.8%)...35 TD's to 42 INT's...He was sacked 92 times in that span...Fitz had a 12-23 record as a starter in his first 6 years combined... Kolb so far has logged 21 starts...He's 449-755 (59.5%)...28 TD's to 25 INT's...He's been sacked 77 times (a REAL bad stat, but that Arizona O-line was just awful...57 of those sacks came in only 14 starts in Arizona)...Kolb has a 9-12 record as starter... So...I'd say at this point Kolb is slightly ahead of where Fitz was a few years ago. He's slightly more accurate, and his TD to INT ratio is better...But on the surface there does not seem to be much difference between the two...I don't think it's possible whatsoever to truly figure out who is the better QB now because Kolb was asked to do the impossible in Arizona with a terrible O-Line and basically no running game (dead last in the NFL in rushing yards)...I think it would have been interesting to see what Kolb could have done in Buffalo the past two seasons...But no question it's a stretch to assume he would have been much better than Fitz...My gut tells me he would have been slightly better...But who knows...
  17. If the Bills came out of the 2013 Draft with Manuel I would be thrilled...He's the QB I've thought of most in a Trade Down scenario...He needs work...But if you ask me the kid plays determined...I really like him...I think his upside is every bit as good as Geno...And I like Geno...
  18. Nope...I thought it was hilarious!!!
  19. I like Geno a lot...More than most....I think his upside is very high... But I'm not in favor of Trading anything from the 2014 Draft...As much as I like Geno I can honestly say I like McCarron, Bridgewater, and Manziel more...So I would be unwilling to give up anything in 2014...I would like to see them ADD picks to 2014... I would much rather see The Bills pass on Geno this year, trade down a couple times in the 1st, take a QB with one of their first two Picks, and be prepared to make a big move in 2014 for a QB if necessary... But that's just me...
  20. But you know EJ and Nassib will never slide that far right?
  21. I pretty much agree with this take...Though I have to admit Kolb does not thrill me...The thing is, the kid looked good at times in Andy Reed's system...And how can you judge any QB properly on that Arizona Offense from last year...Terrible Offensive Line...No decent RB...I mean, outside of Larry Fitzgerald, who was even on that Arizona Offensive Roster? Bare minimum Kolb would be favored to start over TJax...If he was brought in on the cheap, he could provide some insurance if the Rookie QB struggles early...I would say, for the right price, I would not mind seeing Kolb come to Buffalo...
  22. Well...If the Bills tank, especially if the Rookie QB does not show signs, you can forget about Clowney and start thinking about McCarron, Bridgewater, or Manziel if they come out... Just saying...
  23. Speaking of Geno...I've been saying forever that...in the end...Geno would be gone by #8...I just feel QB's will get over-drafted regardless...And there is a lot to like about Smith...Put those two things together and it just figures some team is going to gamble on greatness with Geno...If you watched the NFL Network last night (Total Access and Path To The Draft) some of the same people who were saying Geno was not a top 10 pick were back-tracking big time after his workout...The thing about Geno that is going to play to his advantage is his humility, and love for the game...He's a really good kid with a great work-ethic, he's humble, and he loves football...if you're going to gamble, he's got all the off-field stuff checked off big-time... So I'm doubting Smith will be there at #8...I'm also going to speculate that Barkley is gone too...My guess right now is, some how-some way, Geno goes Top 6, and Barkley goes #7 to Arizona...And if I'm the Bills at that point I bail out of #8 like it's on fire...Grab as much as you can...Maybe even Trade down twice, and THEN take whatever QB you like best from the remaining group...In a Trade down scenario you get extra picks to fill the many holes, plus you stay in the 1st Round and allow yourself the luxury of taking a Nassib, or Manual, or whoever, a little higher than they are projected...To me at least...the Trade down scenario is a win/win for the Bills... And before anybody responds to this with the typical rhetoric...Yes the Bills are going to need a Trade down partner...Something a million teams have somehow found in the past...Can't understand why every time Trading down is talked about concerning the Bills on this board...all of a sudden...the concept becomes more impossible than colonizing Mars...
