  1. Agreed...It's not shocking though...No one likes to hear Jerry Jones talk more than Jerry Jones...Regardless if he knows anything about the subject...
  2. Wow...I did not think I could dislike Jones more than I already do...But he managed to change that...Freaking amazing...
  3. Here's the thing... The Bills as an Organization feel their roster is ready to compete...They are basing this not only on EJ, but on the off-season which brought in several vets along with the Rookie class...Watkins being the key...I would say that if you took the Bills Roster that got stomped by the Pats in week 17 last year and only switched out Watkins for Stevie your point would have more validity...But they added a starting LG in Chris Williams, a 5th DB in Graham, a starting OLB in Rivers, a starting MLB in Spikes, and a starting WR with Mike Williams before the Draft even started...They bring back some nice talent on both sides of the ball...THEN they replaced Stevie with Watkins, not to mention adding three mammoth O-Linemen to greatly strengthen the depth in that area...This team was changed a ton before they ever Drafted these kids...And it only got better after... So I think if you had looked at this logically you could not come up with the assertion that this could be worse than 2009...We'll see how it all plays out...But regardless of what any pundit may say there is not many people who know and understand football that will look at this Bills roster and come away thinking it's anywhere close to that 2009 team...This team has talent...And IF EJ plays well...and I'll give you that's a major IF right now...this team can make a run...I don't think there's any doubt about it...
  4. Fair enough... I imagine the truth is the Browns fully understand Manziel has a reputation for not taking preparation and study seriously and that is their main focus...Which means they need to control as much of him that is within their control...As far as the locker room goes a lot of that stuff gets sorted out on the field...If he plays well he'll have his backers in the locker room regardless...If he does not prepare like he should, is not a team first guy, and pays poorly, he'll be an outcast quick...I don't see Manziel as the kind of kid who is going to be humbled easily, especially if he plays well early...So this should be very interesting... I have no issues with the way the Browns are handling it...They are clearly drawing a line with what they expect of JF and that's smart...With one possible exception...Saying Manziel is the clear back-up to Hoyer is kind of laughable...Everyone knows Manziel will get all the opportunity in the world to beat Hoyer out...And I don't think for a second Manziel is going to see himself as a back-up, or act like one for very long...Because he knows it's not Tom Brady he's competing with...Everyone knows it...He may be an arrogant selfish child at times...But he's not stupid... True...I was only talking about Silver...I LOVE Vic...He's awesome...I actually like at least something about most everybody with a take on the NFL...But Silver, and my least favorite of all La Canfora...well...Don't like em' much...
  5. That guy gets on my last nerve...I almost never agree with his takes...I know who he is...He's basically my age...I've known of him forever...Maybe he's just a guy that is meant to stay in print media because I can't stomach him on NFL Network...The way he covered the Rams during the Draft was...well...I just don't like him much...JMO of course...
  6. Well...Interesting...Those results are not what I expected based on what I've heard throughout this off season from talking to folks, reading here, and listening to WGR...I figured it would be about 50/50 at best...
  7. The Bills had 2 chances to win that game before Chandlers fumble...The PI on Robey, then Stevie's fumble...And I'm not trying to make excuses for Chandler...Just saying in chronological order, he was the third of three big mistakes that cost us that game...It should have never got that far...
  8. Right...Romo is an extreme example I'm sure...I would imagine any of the QB's that got the $100 million deals over the recent couple years will be tough to release... Alex Smith is a UFA after 2014...Bradford is a UFA after 2015...
  9. The chains thing is all the rage now...My 14 year old nephew is working out with them all the time at Cross Fit...He does this one where he does pull-ups with a chain belt and weights swinging from the chain...It's very impressive...I was like... That being said this reminded me of a conversation I had with a buddy of mine when we passed on Orakpo for Maybin...I said, "Did you see that workout video of Orakpo?...He works out with CHAINS...Freaking CHAINS!!!...And we pass on that guy? He's an animal!!!...And...He works out with CHAINS!!!..."
  10. No Saint schooled me on this recently...Romo's dead money is massive over the next couple years...It's the exact reason they passed on Manziel...Romo is going nowhere any time soon... http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/dallas-cowboys/tony-romo/
  11. . 12th in yards among NFL TE's in 2013... I'm not President of the Scott Chandler fan club or anything like that...But he's a solid TE...He's a huge target and he gets open...The Bills could do much worse...
  12. One of the benefits of having a star WR (not saying Watkins is a star yet...just saying...) is forcing the double team...That's why it's important to have depth...I'm certain Woods, Williams, Flash, Chandler, et all will be thrilled with it...The last thing you want EJ doing is forcing the ball into a double team...You want him to find the open receiver...And if the double Sammy, someone will be open...
  13. He's going to be an instant fan favorite when that video gets around...He's dead serious about it...
  14. Exactly... Like I wrote in my previous post it was much more the sum of the whole 87 class, then the Thurman Thomas pick in 88, that officially catapulted the Bills...Biscuit was a big piece no question...But they hit a grand slam in that 87 Draft, Bennett or no Bennett...
  15. I can say with all honesty...The 1st down run plays were the single most frustrating thing for me to watch the entire 2013 season...And there was a LOT of things to be frustrated about...But those failed running plays on 1st down...Over and over again...That had me beyond frustrated...
  16. I thought it was basically the same...Kouandjio was cleared to play after his surgery for Spring Practice in 2012...He played every game since and did not miss a practice either...That's the 2012 and 2013 seasons...Two full seasons... http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/writer/jason-la-canfora/24470778/dr-james-andrews-says-no-issues-with-cyrus-kouandjios-knee
  17. I watched the replay of the later rounds on ESPN and he was obviously not OK with the Henderson pick either... That being said...I was not in favor of giving up the 1st either...But I disagree with Polian writing it off like it can't have a similar effect to the Bennett trade...I think Polian is falling in line with most other analysts who are looking at this Bills team and assuming they are not very good...And that they can't get very good quickly if everything falls in line...I really don't see his logic as far as the Bennett trade comparison...And I'm not even saying Watkins will have a similar effect...But I am saying there is no reason why he can't have a similar effect at this point...The truth is the Bills were coming off a 4-12 season when they made the Bennett trade...This Bills team is coming off a 6-10 season...That Bills team had a very nice core set of players already in place...So does this one...But more than anything, that 1987 class, not just Biscuit, is what helped the Bills take a HUGE leap towards becoming the team they would eventually become...That 87 class was beyond impressive...It brought Biscuit, Conlan, Odomes, Mueller, Leon Seals, McKeller, and House Ballard...Even without Biscuit that was a hell of a good haul for one Draft...So yes...Getting Biscuit was huge...He's my favorite Bills player of all time...But it took a heck of a lot more to build that incredible roster... So lets just say this Draft brings us a star WR in Watkins, a Pro Bowl caliber RT in Kouandjio, and a Pro Bowl caliber OG in Richardson, along with a solid Nickel DB in Cockrell, a 4th LB in Preston Brown, a solid rotation RB and eventual replacement for Freddie in Bryce Brown, and a #2 WR in Williams...That's a potential major step towards being a good team...Right? So maybe the Watkins trade does end up being the catalyst for future success because the Bills are building a very solid roster...Maybe? The main question is obvious...Can EJ grow into at least a fraction of the leader on and off the field that Jimbo was?...That's really going to be the big question...Because even with the Bennett trade, like Polian admitted, the Bills needed to get that final piece (which was TT) to grow into a Championship team even after trading for Biscuit and having a roster that was becoming loaded...So what he's basically saying is they needed a little luck too...I'm sure this Bills team will need something like that to happen...Like maybe Bryce Brown turns into something really, really special for a few years...But I really don't see why this trade can't be the exact same type of boost to the Bills as the Biscuit trade was...I can also see how it can potential backfire as well...Nobody really knows...Including Polian...
  18. The fact that the Panthers passed on Moses at #60 was pretty telling...Maybe more telling than the fact that he slid to the 3rd...I thought for sure that was the spot for Moses...I still have no idea what the Panthers plans are at OT...It's mind-boggling...If it was the Bills ignoring OT like they are we would be going insane...
  19. I know he pulled plenty in the 2012 Bowl game vs. UCLA...Watched that game this morning...His weight was obviously down then, and he looked great...Really good...This kid has serious potential if he keeps his weight down and buys into what they want him to do strength and conditioning-wise...He could be a bulldozer-like RG...If we're looking at an O-line in the future with Glenn, Kouandjio, Woody, Richardson, and Williams...That's a lot of beef and talent up front...And if this team can blow some holes open for CJ, Freddie, and Brown...With the receivers we have now...This Offense has great potential long-term...
  20. I hear what your saying...But they did not exactly win with them either...So...
  21. He's not injured...He played and practiced the past two years without incident. There is still questions about he knee and how it will hold up long-term...But he's fine right now...He even extended his workout at the 2nd Pro Day to show scouts his stamina... http://www.al.com/alabamafootball/index.ssf/2014/04/cyrus_kouandjio_alabama_offens.html Watch the LSU highlights I posted earlier in this thread and tell me how slow and weak he looks while playing against one of the better Defenses in College football (LSU ranked 8th in total D)...He can move just fine...He's an OT...not a track athlete...You can tell how well drilled he was and how he does not waste steps on the field...This kid is polished coming out in comparison to a lot of prospect OT's...Remember his College coaches feel he can be better than DJ Fluker who had a great rookie season in San Diego last year...And Fluker, who is not quite as big as Kouandjio, was "slow and weak" at his Combine too (21 reps and a 5.31 40 time)...They're Alabama OT's...They're very good... Lastly...I think if were going to trust Marrone on anything...it should be to develop a RT with the God given ability of Kouandjio...Our HC is an ex NFL O-lineman, and an ex O-line coach...I'm guessing Marrone saw enough of Cyrus to think he can turn him into something special...
