Well...I hear ya... In this day of analytics in sports Allen would figure to be doomed as a top QB prospect... I think though...the tipping point for people like Mayock, or more importantly Beane (if all of this is true), HAS to be Allen's book smarts...He's a smart kid...And when you look at those elite, like high tier elite tools...Then add how smart he is...It may seem like less of a risk to project success... He's my QB5 as well...So I get it...I can't find myself trusting this Allen thing can go well...I have Jackson higher, I think he's less of a risk...And that's saying something...But I do admit to giving heavy pause knowing SO many people who understand things better than I do see plenty of promise in Allen... And if he comes to Buffalo, he's my dude...Until he's not...

At this point I would be absolutely floored if the Giants did not take Barkley... Every time I see or hear things from the mountain of folks who think they should not, or mock a QB to them because that's what they think the Giants should do, I think...well...sure...If I was the Giants GM I'd Draft a QB too...But are you not just completely wasting your time worrying about it? Because literally every sign...I mean EVERY hint..says they are going to go with Barkley...They think he's beyond special...And there's reason to believe...in just that aspect of the equation...they could be right... They're old-school football and they are going with the sure thing...They are envisioning the potential of putting Beckham, Engram, and Barkley on the field at the same time and what that means for Defenses trying to figure out how to stop it...They feel it will add a year or two to Eli's career by doing this, and it will instantly make them Playoff contenders...Now..They could be dead wrong about all of it...It may be the mistake of the century...But it certainly seems to be what they're thinking...So...Why fight it?

No offense, but that is a false narrative...73% of his rushing yards in College came on designed runs...27% on scrambles...He's become a MUCH more disciplined pocket passer, using that incredible athletic ability to slide and deliver rather than just take off at the 1st sign of pressure...He wants to stay in the pocket and throw...No doubt Petrino was able to convince him that was the way he would get Drafted in the 1st...and it worked... https://www.profootballfocus.com/news/draft-the-case-to-build-an-nfl-offense-around-lamar-jackson

If Bills Get to Pick #2 Overall, Who Do You Take?
KOKBILLS replied to Fadingpain's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Baker in both instances... -
Gotta say I'm a little surprised at these poll numbers...I mean..I get how Allen could be the favorite...Some people love big arm dude...And he is enticing for sure...But better than 2/1?...Wow... If the Bills end up with Allen I won't be despondent...Even if they end up with Rudolph I have hope...SO much of this will come down to Coaching and fit in whatever Offense the Bills put forward... But I think Lamar Jackson is a better QB now, and I'm guessing, based on what I saw from the past 3 years, he'll be a better QB 5 years from now... I don't think it's even close... And that's why scouting NFL QB's is the tremendously tough...It's REAL hard to look at Allen and not see the amazing possibilities...They seem endless...And there is literally no way of properly explaining why a kid with that much natural athletic ability...ability that seems custom made for the job of NFL QB, is just not that great pre and post snap...A kid THAT book smart too...He's just not that good at football right now...His adjusted completion percentage WITH drops is still barely over 60%...He will drop back and look very sound technically at times and still sail balls WAY off target...He does not seem to be able to process what he sees all that well...And asking him to make the jump of all jumps while expecting him to get MUCH...I mean A LOT better?...Where he will need to not only read and process in a twitch, he'll also need to execute at the same time...To me Allen has not shown that ability against average College teams...And he's suddenly going to learn how to do this in the NFL? I don't know...It's a MASSIVE leap of faith... On the other hand you have a kid who is an amazing football player who book tested like a dummy, but goes out on the football field and is electric...119 total TD's in 3 years on an average College team...The highest percentage of dropped passes among the top QB's in this Draft (His adjusted completion % with drops added puts him at QB4 in this Draft)...Possibly the best running QB to ever enter the NFL...And he can pass too...Sits and slides in pocket...Sees it better than Allen...Executes it better than Allen...And has gotten better as a passer every year... I'm not saying Jackson is a sure thing...And I do worry about his ability to stay healthy with that slim frame... But as an admitted barely-amateur Scout there is no way I would take Allen ahead of Jackson...No way...And I think Bills fans should be careful not to underestimate the possibility of Jackson at #12 and keeping all our picks...Assuming the Bills cannot get Darnold, Mayfield, or Rosen that's what I'm hoping for...

A couple Bills Rumors from WGR sports talk Saturday
KOKBILLS replied to Deep2Moulds46's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just to clear this up a little it was not Nate coming up with these rumors...It was one of the guests...Not sure which one but I was listening...It's the same guy that has been hearing the Bills love Rosen forever... -
I know this much about Jackson... There are a few online "scouts" that I really trust...Down to the last one, and much to my surprise, they all have Jackson in their Top 4 QB's minimum...It seems like every day I hear someone heaping praise on Jackson when I'm fully expecting the opposite...In the on-the-field areas I hear less-than-knowledgeable amateur hacks try to knock Jackson, the folks I trust pick those opinions apart...And they have the film study and analytics to back it up...I'm uncertain why he scored so low on the test, I do know that according to the people I trust he has very little problem understanding what he is supposed to do on the football field as a QB...And while I hear plenty of excuses for the kid with the rocket arm it was Jackson who had the highest percentage of his passes dropped out of the top 6 QB's in this Draft... I've said all along this process I would be OK with any of the top 5 QB's...And I think Rudolph could be fine with the right system and patience...They all have strengths, they all have work to do to become good NFL starters...Each one is a unique project...I prefer Mayfield to all of them, followed by Darnold...But Jackson is my QB3...And considering it's more than likely the Bills can sit at #12, take Jackson, and keep ALL their picks...well...it's hard to argue against that IMHO... We'll see...It would take serious stones to sit put and take Jackson...That's for certain...But I can honestly say I'm OK with it...

Rosen or Darnold? Who's your pick?
KOKBILLS replied to ColdFront_USAF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Darnold... My issues with Rosen are mostly due to my concerns about his ability to stay healthy long term... -
Greg Cosell Breaks Down Baker Mayfield
KOKBILLS replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
QB1 -
Well...All that is possible for the Pats... But Gronk is not that big a piece...He's older, oft-injured, and he's going to want big money for at least a year... But if they do move way up they should not be surprised if Brady tells them he's not coming back...Because that team is full of holes, including at LT...And they'll be giving most of their capital up for another QB? Brady will flip...
-
It is weird... I'll give you that for sure...
-
Well...They do have #1...What does it really matter to them? They get who they want if they stay there...And if anything he should be pupping up Darnold if he wants out of that pick...I think the Browns may be the only team in the NFL that would take Allen in this Draft at #1 overall...It's a little nuts considering the other options...

Goodness...

Keep our picks, draft Kyle Lauletta?
KOKBILLS replied to Gavin in Va Beach's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No -
Well...If Allen goes #1, and of course if the NYG go Barkley, personally I feel great... Because Mayfield is my QB1, Darnold is my QB2, and the Jets can only have one of the two...If the Bills work their way into being the next team to Draft a QB they Get Mayfield or Darnold guaranteed...And even if something goes haywire and teams jump them, they still likely get Rosen bare minimum... To me it's all good if Allen goes #1 and the Giants go Barkley...That's taking my QB5 off the board at #1 overall and leaving QB1-QB4 available from 3 -11...And of those 9 spot ahead of me 6 of them will not take a QB, and Denver is the 7th slot... The math is REALLY working for the Bills in that situation...Get ahead of Miami and you're going to get one of Mayfield, Darnold, Rosen, or Jackson...And depending on how the Bills board looks, it's conceivable they get their QB1 (I'm assuming that is Mayfield, Darnold, or Rosen) without moving up too much...That would be incredible!!! Anyway...For me I'm REAL happy if the Bills come home with Mayfield or Darnold...And I'm OK with Rosen or Jackson...So this is all looking good...

That truly saddens me...He's one of my All Time favs for sure...Never should have got away...

Who is your favorite current Bill?

Shady or Tre... -
All I care about is Fat Pat...

IMHO this whole trade scenario up top really boils down to how much the Browns value Chubb...The Giants part, assuming they really want Barkley, would be a no-brainer...They get something for nothing... Plus Cleveland could conceivably get right back up to 5 or 6 and grab Chubb anyway if they really wanted him that bad...And they'd still have plenty of premium picks left... Anyway...To me that would be the key...Cleveland moves out of 4 they probably lose Chubb...If they don't mind that...well... this thing becomes really possible...Even logical...
-
Fair enough... But I'm sure they're realistic too...Darnold was pipe dream a few weeks ago, and no one is talking about this at all unless the Allen to the Browns and Barkley to the Giants rumors weren't running wild...
-
The Bills will still get a QB, and if everyone stays put there's a very good chance the #3 QB will be available at pick #5...And Denver will be listening...At that point 12 and 22 are more than enough... The Bills will get one of the top 5 guys...All they have to do to assure it is to get ahead of Miami...Which is easy...They're not desperate...The only reason this is a thing is because they seemingly love Darnold...
-
Not if they have decided on Barkley and are going to take him at #2 regardless... So they would turn down extra picks due to perceived value only to take the guy they would get at #4 anyway at #2??? For what? Pride?
