That’s quite an analysis of Coleman and the other rookie WR’s. what kind of numbers do you hope/expect Coleman and Kincaid to put up this coming season?
-
I sure did. Its not like we sat down and had dinner and drinks together. But I let him know I was a big time Bills fan. And my girlfriend, who was there with me and is originally from Detroit was talking up the Lions as well. Its good when we both have good teams to root for. We were hoping for a Lions-Bills Super Bowl. But that unfortunately did not happen.

Jeudy had Jameis Winston throwing to him. He will let it rip all day long. Yes he will throw some picks, but he gets his receivers lots of yards. Jeudy had a huge game against the Broncos last year on MNF w Jameis throwing him the ball. I for one have no idea why Jameis doesn’t get more love around the NFL. He signs w the Giants and then they sign Wilson and draft Dart. And look at the crap the Saints are throwing out there this year at QB. Winston is a leader and loves the game of football. He is the black Fitzie and a poor man’s Favre. I would love him to be our backup over Trubisky. The game is so controlled by coaches today. A guy like Winston who just goes out and throws it all over the yard is not what most coaching staffs want. (Including I would imagine the Bills) The guy is just a breath of fresh air.

The guy definitely had a big personality. And seemed to be quite the character. (Can’t say the same for Pegula who I could not imagine being any blander) The Colts have always been a pretty solid franchise. Except for their GM Ballard who pretty much sucks. As for 65 being too young to go. You live fast and hard your whole life, you are very lucky to get near 65. Opioid addiction will mess you up.

Good call on Spero Dedes. He is very good. Has done quite a few Bills games. Doesn't he partner with Adam Archuletta? I met Collinsworth at a Steakhouse in Atlanta last season when they were in town to do I believe the KC-Atlanta Sunday night game. He was pretty cool and did not mind chatting with me for a little bit.

The play Arnold tried to make at the end of the Missouri game was something when he got spun around and the ball got flung backwards and ran back by Mizzou for a TD. I think I had bet Oklahoma that night, and was counting on them driving for the winning score, and instead Arnold fumbled and the ball was returned the other way, and Missouri covered.

Hard Knocks has been on for well over 20 years. By this point the novelty of it has long since passed. The script is pretty much the same every year now. McDermott is definitely not an overly glib entertaining type of character. But just watching the guys practice and go at it with each other, offense versus defense is always interesting. And the coaches meetings to discuss roster cuts is always pretty fascinating. As for human interest stories about the specific players, thats usually pretty bland in today's era. Antonio Brown with the Raiders was pretty entertaining. But the Bills are not built to be a freak show.

Interesting. I like his smooth delivery. And he has good knowledge. And he is a little down home. (He played DB at Tennessee in the 80's I believe.) Has some dry humor as well. Just a personal preference. Like Kevin Harlan and Gus Johnson. I am not a big fan of the Sunday Nite and Monday Nite guys. I guess because its primetime, they are not as gritty, nuts and bolts type of broadcasters. I don't need the fluff of a Mike Terico. He is way too sugar coated and polished. Doesn't come off like a hard core football guy. Way too much praise about every star player every single week.

I saw that your freshman QB from last year Jackson Arnold transferred to Auburn. And didn't you bring in a guy named John Mateer, who I believe is from WSU if I am not mistaken. Venables was a good DC at Clemson. But its a whole different story to be a good head coach at a big time program. Should be interesting. The defenses you guys are playing against are probably a lot better now than in the Big 12. Although I really like Big 12 football. A lot of solid if not great teams. And the games are usually real competitive.
-
Romo is entertaining. Nantz is solid. I am a big Kevin Harlan and Charles Davis fan. And for college there is no one like Gus Johnson! Chris Spielman used to be good also. Really funny when talking football. He was one tough hombre when he played. When Michigan played Ohio Stare in 1986 he had 26 tackles. My God.

I just looked up the Sooners schedule. It is really difficult. Good luck. I am a big college football fan. And I have always rooted for the Sooners to a degree going back to the Barry Switzer years with JC Watts at QB when I was young. (loved them running all that Option wishbone football. Really interesting how the game has changed over the years.) And then I always liked Bob Stoops too. But Michigan is my school and my team. It should be an exciting game between the two blue blood teams that don't usually play each other.

It certainly wasn't Kincaid dropping the pass against the Chiefs on 4th down in the AFCCG, which really was an amazing throw under the circumstances. Just an unfortunate misconnection between QB and WR at a crucial moment in the game. But pre Josh Allen seems like a whole nother era ago. I think its an exciting schedule. And I think our roster looks really strong. Definitely in play for the #1 seed in the AFC.

I was just commenting on any elite talent on the roster. Not how great or not Beane is. He has had his hits and misses. I like the guys we drafted this year. Love going heavy on defense. Let’s hope they really can contribute in a big way this year, and for years to come. The Maize and Blue are coming to Norman week 2. The Sooners gonna be ready? We play some physical football on both sides of the ball.
-
Benford has the potential to be elite. Although I don’t think his athleticism is quite at that level. I am real excited to watch Hairston play. He has elite speed. And that’s a great attribute to start your NFL career with. I actually thought that Kincaid could be elite coming out of Utah. But I may have been overly optimistic after watching him shred the USC defense in the 2022 PAC 12 championship. ( But that was a terrible defensive team.) At this point I would be happy if Kincaid turns into a good TE. A Todd Heap type (used to play for the Ravens in the earlier 2000’s.) As for Coleman he didn’t show a whole lot over the course of last season. Let’s hope for a big jump this coming year.
-
He got probably close to a dozen targets in the last game of the regular season against the Pats. And looked awful. Hopefully he shows dramatic improvement this season-same with Dalton Kincaid. I don’t get the talk about WR’s playing different positions. It’s all running routes, beating your man, and catching a football. I think Jerry Rice could play inside or outside. It’s really didn’t matter. Unless your a little guy like Cole Beasley, a pro WR should be able to play inside or out and be a force every week. let’s hope Keon becomes that. But Wouldn’t that be something if the 7th round pick Prater became better than Coleman. lol. Similar to a Benford-Elam situation. It could happen. But let’s hope they both become good NFL receivers.

Zay Jones dropped a catchable deep pass for what probably would have been the game winning TD if you recall. Bills offense was trash in 2017.
-
And you are the expert on Damar Hamlin? All you have to do is watch his play. And you can clearly tell he is not an NFL athlete. He is always slow getting to the party. There is no suddenness or twitchiness to his movements in the slightest. He has a lanky build, which usually does not lend itself to being a good DB. But I am not his position coach or head coach. So I won't be making the decision on if he makes the roster or not. But based off of his performance last year, I would look elsewhere.

Ravens lose Ar'Darius Washington for the season.
Paup 1995MVP replied to Bigvinny's topic in The Stadium Wall
What the hell! This is the Ravens. I hate the MF Ravens about as much as any team in the NFL. Can't stand John Harbaugh, and the entire organization. I don't want bad stuff to happen to this individual player. And I honestly have never heard of this kid Washington. But any bad fortune on that team, is fine by me. Can't stand their fans, the city or anything else associated with them. (I did like three things about Baltimore. And that was Cal Ripken Jr. Earl Weaver and Bert Jones-who threw the best deep ball in the history of the modern NFL) But as for this version of the Ravens. Thumbs way down!! -
Best players need to start, every day all day. Let’s hope Bishop earns it. And if he can’t, then Forrest and Hancock may get their chance. We all know what Hamlin is. Good guy. Hard worker. But not an NFL athlete. A safety room of Rapp Bishop Forrest and Hancock should hopefully be very good. Those are some very good athleticism numbers. Let’s hope that translates to some real strong play on the field. Bills seem to have done a real good job fortifying their secondary.
-
Thank you for expounding on what I said. Hamlin’s score seems very mediocre, at best. And Lewis far below that. They are solid football players. But we need better athletes, who are good football players to win at the highest level. Hopefully the new additions in the secondary will provide that. Do you know what the 3 new DB’s RAS scores are? But to your point, it shows how well are coaches can coach DB’s up to at least be competent on the back end for the most part. Although the defensive effort against the Rams last year was god awful. And exposed us for the lack of athleticism we had on the back end. And that was fortified the next week against the Lions.
-
That's a great summary of our safety play last year. Lets hope Rapp and Bishop are a real good tandem together this coming year. Don't know much about Forrest, but have heard he is athletic and played real well in 2022 when healthy for Washington. As for Hancock, he played and started some for the Nat Champion Buckeyes. There should be a place for him in the defensive rotation sooner than later. Our defense was trash last year. There needs to be a plan to incorporate all 6 players drafted on defense this year into the rotation pretty quickly. The guys in front of them on the D Line and secondary were pretty bad with little to no upside. That has to change. McDermott is a ***** coach if he can not see that. And yes Hamlin was lousy last year. Lacks the basic athleticism to be playing NFL football. Pretty much the same w Cam Lewis. Its a speed game in the modern NFL. The old time safety's like David Fulcher (remember him from Cincinnati) are bigger then many LB's in today's game. We need to keep up with better athleticism.

Labor Day Weekend: Should be opening day for NFL

You are missing out. College football is tremendous. Why do you even care about NIL? -
49ers first round draft pick Ricky Pearsall shot in San Francisco
Paup 1995MVP replied to Chaos's topic in The Stadium Wall
Noone is happy that Pearsall was shot. A lot of us think that San Fran is a ***** hole sess pool of a city, because of the leaders and the politics that have pervaded the area, as well as many other areas in this once great country. If you don't understand that, then wake up and start figuring things out.- 172 replies
