Laveranues has left the building
Steely Dan replied to silvermike's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Doesn't bother me in the slightest. -
Marques Douglas-DL- Ravens Feb. 27 - 12:26 pm et Ravens released DE Marques Douglas. The soon-to-be 32-year old became expendable when Baltimore retained Dwan Edwards. Douglas played in all 16 games last year and could latch on elsewhere as a rotational piece. He offers good character and can still produce. He'd probably come for a reasonable price, I'd think.

Bills hosting 4 players today
Steely Dan replied to cantankerous's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Somebody on the board said he had an Achilles tear but I can't find anything about that being true. Anyhoo, it's not a signing that excites me. If he can stay healthy then ok but I still don't care about this. I'd prefer they spend the money elsewhere. -
I figured you'd want a feather for your cap.

Evans is 5' 10" and so is Josh Reed. Parrish is 5'9" and all of them are considered small.

Kevin Burnett | #57 | LB Dallas Cowboys | Official Team Site Height: 6-3 Weight: 242 Age: 26 Born: 12/24/1982 Inglewood , CA College: Tennessee Experience: 4th season High School: Dominquez HS [Compton, CA] I like that a lot! Git 'er done Russ!

Guys, remember this is WGR. They have a bout a 33% chance of being right. Well there goes his speed. Just what the Bills need a small slow receiver. I can't think of anyone on the roster I'd cut in order to make room for him.

Any news on Rocky Bernard - DT - Seattle?
Steely Dan replied to PIZ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Rocky Bernard-DL- Seahawks Feb. 27 - 9:59 am et In addition to Michael Boley, the Giants are hosting free agent DT Rocky Bernard for a visit Friday. The Giants have concern at defensive tackle with starters Barry Cofield and Fred Robbins both coming off arthroscopic knee surgery. Bernard would add depth as a third or fourth tackle and some pass-rush ability up the middle. -
Skins only had 8.1 million in cap space
Steely Dan replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You don't really believe that Ralph doesn't give a crap about winning do you. Check the facts and you'll see you're wrong. Great, I guess Snyder won't be on board with a lockout. -
The Rams are expected to sign free agent C/G Jason Brown "in the coming hours," according to the National Football Post. St. Louis has been Brown's only visit. The Dolphins backed off him when the bidding went to high and at that point the Rams appeared to be competing with themselves. Still, they'll have to trump Baltimore's $6M-a-year offer.

Good depth guy who could give Ko a run for his job -
Now that Haynesworth signed for $100 mill
Steely Dan replied to Justice's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
$100 million?! Especially for a guy who has a good chance of getting lazy after his big time contract. Dumb, dumb, dumb. Another Dan Snyder idiocy signing. 'Nuff said. Stroud will work something out with Buffalo. IMO -
The FA class is mostly "meh" so I think teams are taking a cautious approach with guys. They want to check guys out before offering deals. JMO BTW, Jason Brown-C- Ravens Feb. 27 - 2:45 am et The Dolphins have "backed away" from the high-stakes bidding for free agent OL Jason Brown and DL Chris Canty. The Redskins and Rams have to like this, but it's never a good sign when such a well-run organization deems the price tag of players out of hand. St. Louis is expected to offer Brown Alan Faneca money during his Friday visit.

No sacks bothers me but he should at least get a look. Freddie Keiaho | #54 | OLB Indianapolis Colts | Official Team Site Height: 5-11 Weight: 226 Age: 26 Born: 12/18/1982 College: San Diego State Experience: 3rd season High School: Buena HS [Ventura, CA] 105 Tackles no Int.s and no sacks Freddie Keiaho-LB- Colts Feb. 27 - 2:33 am et The Colts did not extend a restricted free agent tender to LB Freddie Keiaho, meaning he'll hit unrestricted free agency. A big surprise. Keiaho, 26, started the last two seasons on the weak side and led the club in tackles in 2008. It could be a sign that the Colts, like Tampa, are shying from a Cover-2 scheme. Keiaho is not an old fashioned run plugging linebacker. They don't have an obvious replacement on the roster.

BTW, where's all the JP news?

Bart Scott-LB- Ravens Feb. 27 - 1:28 am et In addition to G/C Jason Brown, the Rams have scheduled a free agent visit with LB Bart Scott. Scott would play MIKE linebacker in St. Louis and allow the Rams to kick Will Witherspoon to the weak side, which is considered his strongest position. The Rams aren't overflowing with salary cap space, but can offer Scott a more glorified role than he ever played in Baltimore.

T.J. Houshmandzadeh-WR- Bengals Feb. 27 - 1:24 am et Appearing on ESPN early Friday, free agent T.J. Houshmandzadeh named the Giants, Seahawks, Eagles, and Vikings as teams he'd be interested in playing for. Houshmandzadeh singled out Minnesota, noting the single teams he'd see with Adrian Peterson in the backfield. He'd supplant Sidney Rice as a starter.

Well it looks like he's ed. Brian Waters Guard 1/31/2006: Signed a six-year, $26.5 million contract. The deal included an initial $4 million roster bonus and a $2.5 million roster bonus in the third year. 2009: $3.6 million, 2010: $2.9 million, 2011: $3.9 million, 2012: Free Agent. Cap charge: $5.1 million (2009).

I'm no GM but let the guy come to your office and tell him that you really need him on the team and that you forsee great things from this team and massage his ego. Now as soon as this guys contract is over he's gone like a lightning bolt. Jonathan Vilma-LB- Saints Feb. 27 - 1:21 am et The Bucs are reportedly working to set up a free agent visit with LB Jonathan Vilma. Vilma would be viewed as a weak-side linebacker in Tampa Bay and the heir to Derrick Brooks. The Saints, however, are feverishly working to lock him up. Welcome to KC Mr. Pioli you're making a great start!!! Brian Waters-G- Chiefs Feb. 27 - 1:17 am et Chiefs LG Brian Waters has reportedly asked the organization to release or trade him this offseason. Waters reportedly had a sit-down with head coach Todd Haley recently after being told GM Scott Pioli would not meet with him one-on-one. A four-time Pro Bowler and two-time All Pro, Waters was "shocked by the arrogance" of the Chiefs' new regime, which told him his demand would not be honored. Source: Kansas City Star

I'd have one guy call him and another call his agent simultaneously and tell them $9 mill stop the trip to St. Louis he's playing in Buffalo and we won't take no for an answer. Cool maybe they can keep Greer! Bart Scott-LB- Ravens Feb. 27 - 1:05 am et ESPN's John Clayton reports that free agent LB Bart Scott hit the market early Friday, but has not turned down Baltimore's five-year contract offer. The Ravens are still right in the thick of it, but Scott likely wants to see what the Jets come up with. Ray Lewis also remains unsigned at this point.

OL Hangartner to visit Bills Friday
Steely Dan replied to buffalo1983's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jason Brown-C- Ravens Feb. 27 - 1:01 am et ESPN's John Clayton reports that free agent G/C Jason Brown has set up a formal visit with the Rams. He figures to be in St. Louis on Friday. Brown is seeking a deal paying $8M annually after turning down the Ravens' $6 million-per-year proposal.
