  1. I'd say that's more in line with his talents.
  2. With $9 million guaranteed? The other thing is that if the Steelers thought he was a starting caliber player they never would have drafted Holmes, IMO. Here are some other receivers contracts. I realize that some of these guys are in their first contracts. Lee Evans Wide Receiver 10/2/2008: Signed a four-year, $37.25 million contract extension through 2012. The deal includes $18.25 million guaranteed and a first-year salary of $11,730,770. Another $3 million is available through incentives. 2009: $9 million, 2010: $5.4 million (+ $3 million roster bonus), 2011-2012: $3.025 million (+ $1 million roster bonuses, 2013: Free Agent. Cap charge: $9.87 million (2009). Santonio Holmes Wide Receiver 7/28/2006: Signed a five-year, $8.11 million contract. The deal includes $5.42 million guaranteed. 2009: $700,000, 2010: $755,000, 2011: Free Agent Hines Ward Wide Receiver 9/5/2005: Signed a five-year, $25.83 million contract. The deal contains $9 million guaranteed, including a $5 million signing bonus. 2009: $5.8 million, 2010: Free Agent Terrell Owens Wide Receiver 6/2/2008: Signed a four-year, $34 million contract. The deal contains $13 million guaranteed, including a $12.9 million signing bonus and $100,000 of his first-year base salary. 2009: $2.67 million (+ $3.1 million roster bonus due in June), 2010: $7.5 million, 2011: $7 million, 2012: Free Agent. Cap charges: $8.995 million (2009), $10.725 million (2010), $10.225 million (2011). Reggie Wayne Wide Receiver 3/2/2006: Signed a six-year, $39.5 million contract. The deal included a $12.5 million signing bonus. 2009: $4.94 million, 2010: $5.47 million, 2011: $5.95 million, 2012: Free Agent. Cap charge: $7.44 million (2009). Randy Moss Wide Receiver 3/3/2008: Signed a three-year, $27 million contract. The deal contains $14.1 million guaranteed, including a $12 million signing bonus. 2009: $4.9 million (+ $1.5 million "signing bonus"), 2010: $6.4 million, 2011: Free Agent Steve Smith Wide Receiver 5/8/2007: Signed a six-year, $43.85 million contract. The deal included a $9.3 million signing bonus and a $6 million roster bonus in the second year. 2009: $3.4 million (+ $2 million roster bonus), 2010: $5.75 million, 2011: $7 million, 2012: $7.75 million, 2013: Free Agent I couldn't think of other guys with his stats to compare.
  3. I'm hoping that someone that the Bills have no need for but is coveted by a lot of teams falls down and the Bills can trade back and still get a guy they want but pick up more DP's also.
  4. That's what I was thinking. TJ deserves a much bigger contract than that and he'll be hard pressed to get one. That's gotta burn his buttocks.
  5. Nate Washington-WR- Titans Mar. 2 - 8:29 pm et Nate Washington's contract with the Titans is worth $27 million over six seasons, with $9 million guaranteed. He'll definitely start at this rate. Tennessee's incumbent No. 1 receiver, Justin Gage, has a contract paying $1M a year less. OC Mike Heimerdinger's vertical offense will suit Washington's deep speed, but Gage is still the better bet in PPR leagues. Washington should lead the Titans in receiving yards. Source: Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Does this seem as dumb a contract to you as it does to me? Last year he had 40 rec. for 631 yards and 3 TD's. I wouldn't have gone over $4 million guaranteed.
  6. Hey! You're a poet but you don't know it!
  7. If the Bills have two huge run stuffers in the middle of the line that can get to the QB once in a while the sack numbers will increase, IMO. It's easier to make a sack on third and long than it is third and two. Forcing a team to throw repeatedly will up the sack numbers and Int. numbers. DE's are great when they get to the QB and sack him but they don't help as much in the running game. With two great DT's the offense has to decide who to double team on the line and it can't be both DT's and the DE's. If they keep the TE on the line to block with the RB on passing downs it limits the number of targets the QB has and lowers the number of guys the LB's have to support in coverage. RB's aren't the best blockers either. The run stuffing is the key to the defense IMO. Run and stop the run. You're right statistically it appears DE is more important but a great DT is still more of a need, IMO, than a great DE. I see some really good points here and I'm not as convinced about the DT over DE as I was but I still think DT is more important. The highlighted part of your post is something a lot of Bills fans suffer from. The Bruce Smith problem. The fans expect another one to fall into the Bills laps again. The problem is that there are 32 teams in the NFL who don't have anything close to a Bruce Smith and probably won't for many years to come. He's the all time sack leader in the history of the NFL and an amazing physical specimen. They don't grow on trees. The best DE in the NFL right now couldn't hold Bruce's jock strap. Bills fans were really spoiled by having a once in a lifetime talent on their team for so long. It's understandable. I think a strong push up the middle forces the running plays to the outside where DE's and linebackers should be able to stop the runner. A pass rush up the middle while not getting those players a lot of sacks leads to the DE's getting more sacks because the QB has to roll out to his right or left closer to the DE's on either side. A push up the middle can also force a QB to run straight backwards if the pressure comes from all sides and he can't throw the ball away unless he's outside the tackles so he has to make a desperate attempt or take the sack.
  8. As long as people can understand that because nothing is perfect and putting people to death is going to include mistakes. I'd rather house them for life, the cheaper alternative, instead of put them to death. How can you separate the fully guilty from partially guilty in the law? How do you differentiate those. What if it's a case that falls in the middle? How do you word that law? I agree that the totally guilty deserve to die but I can't see how an airtight perfect system could ever be made. As far as your attitude about, what seems to be, the innocent people who would be put to death you're very callous. A lot of people out there have a "life is tough" attitude about things they are very sure will never happen to them. If it did happen to you I'm sure your attitude of "Oh well it happens" would fly out the window PDQ. IMO, you can't go through life with blinders on. You have to put yourself in the shoes of others to truly understand the problem. It seems that too many people don't want to bother with that because it would destroy their world view. Try to think about a scenario that, God forbid, would ever have you falsely accused of a crime and convicted. How would you feel and what would your opinion of the law be then?
  9. I disagree, with Schobel coming back healthy and Ellis entering his second year I'd say a DT is a much bigger need. It was said last year that Stroud in the middle should make it easier on the DE's and I just don't think Stroud could do it alone. Another big run stuffing QB sacking guy in the middle of the line would be far more important in my book than a DE.
  10. The Bills have Ellis, Schobel, Denney and Kelsey at DE right now. At DT they have Stroud and... I'd rather see them go into the season with just the DE's they have now instead of just the DT's they have now. I just don't get the logic behind a DE being a bigger need than DT. JMO
  11. Exactly. If Crabtree falls to Buffalo then I hope the Bills trade back and take someone to the cleaners for it.
  12. I'd love to see Waters added if it was for a 3rd or later and I think Holt could be had for a fourth or less if it sal cap dump the scRams are looking for. So if Buffalo traded a third for Waters and a fourth for Holt then I'd say do it up. DT and TE can be addressed in the first two rounds. He doesn't want to sign here because he's asking for too much money and the Bills aren't going to pony up the dough which they shouldn't. All he wants is the moolah! They would be spending foolishly, IMO. Miami was very interested in him but dropped out of the running. That should tell everyone a lot. I'm guessing because he wants more money than he's worth. He made a big mistake by turning down the Jests offer of $6 million and he's desperately trying to at least get that or more, I would think. He's just not worth it. As for being the Lions the Bills aren't even in the top ten of picks let alone the first overall after a winless season. I just finished talking to a guy from Time Warner, who's a big Bills fan, because I was having a problem with my cable and he said he's met Coles and he's the nicest pro athlete he's ever met. Just thought you guys might find that interesting.
  13. I can't remember a post of his where he isn't.
  14. I believe most law enforcement people are good and trustworthy people. A few are A-holes but A-holes with power. A girl I knew was dating a guy and he got a job working for her father. Her father was making a decision on whether or not fire somebody at a job site and this guy was waiting for her fathers call where we worked. He was taking criminal justice classes and wanted to be a State Trooper. As he stood there he said, "Man, I hope he tells me to fire him!" I asked why he would want to do that he said, "Just to have that power." I told him he's the last person who should ever get a badge. Those are the A-holes. The people who want the badge for the power it brings. Those who want to protect and serve are the good guys, IMO.
  15. This wasn't a charter. One of them owned the boat. Had it been a charter the captain would have had a lot more common sense. I'd think. Here's an article from NFL.com that includes a video about the whole thing.
  16. Keary Colbert is a journeyman who wouldn't displace anybody the Bills have on their roster. IMO.
  17. That's been long known but many people didn't want to admit it because it seems to go against common sense but it's always been true. Now that states are coming out and admitting it hopefully some of those people will now be convinced. If there was a 100% chance of knowing if somebody was guilty or innocent then I'd be all for it because then the money wouldn't be an issue but, it doesn't work like that. It's used a lot more against blacks than whites and IIRC that data is %age based. People say DNA makes it impossible to get it wrong but DNA isn't available in every case. Deano said he saw something once where a DNA lab tech said they would fake the findings if they were sure the guy did it. I also like the life imprisonment as being a worse answer for the convicted especially for child molesters and rapists. I saw a "Forensic Files" on a case where when they first presented the evidence against the guy convicted it looked like a slam dunk but it turned out he was innocent. He managed to prove his own innocent by hard work from the prison.
  18. Shhh, don't say that in front of the idiots who think the Bills should have signed: Haynesworh, whosyourmomma, Coles, Brown, Saturday, traded for Jay Cutler, Brandon Marshall and Scheffler, Aquired Peyton Manning, Eli Manning for his backup and every other star player on every team. The Bills suck and it proves Ralph is a cheap assed mo-fo. It's anus you anis!! What an a-hole!!
  19. I wish I could come up with something for this but everything just seems sooo obvious. Anyhoo, here's a picture.
  20. Who cares if they squeak in. Making the playoffs as a wild card and getting knocked out in the first round is not much better if at all than what is happening now. You're not being a jerk anyone can pose any question they want. I'm not counting the Donahoe era but since Donahoe has left I like: Kawika Mitchell, Langston Walker, Fred Jackson, Spencer Johnson is a solid backup and so is Jason Whittle and I'm gonna count Marcus Stroud in here too. That makes me think twice too. I wonder why they don't want him even though Pennington is on the team. It does seem strange. I agree it would be nice to make the playoffs now and again but a constant first round exit would almost be more frustrating.
  21. I have the same problem. If the stuff about Aikman is true, and I'm not talking about the bi-sexual stuff, he's a real jerk to put it in a G rated way. I never liked Switzer and nothing surprises me about him. Bayless is a sleaze for reporting some of this stuff but he is a journalist and, to a certain extent, it's his job to report stories. If you are running FF you need to download "Nuke Anything" It enables you to right click and find an option that says "remove this object" and you can make any pictures that bother you disappear. I used it on that picture of Bayless and I use it a lot on other articles that have disturbing pictures so I can read without being distracted.
  22. Think man think!! Look at the two posts above. It's just common sense. I'm watching and I'm here too. Nice to have a TV screen I can put in the corner of my computer screen. The playboy chick is must see TV!! Here are rules and I think Lori would agree. If she doesn't she'll correct me. One thread for Tim once in awhile and definitely never ask for favors other than just info.
  23. You have no idea how the salary cap and team chemistry work. All you need to do is look at the Redskins for cap mismanagement and the follies of getting big stars all the time. If a team spends a crapload on one player it affects how the team can spend on other players. The Bills idea is to spend wisely. They haven't been able to hit on some of their FA's but they're making the best decisions financially. JMO
  24. Rotoworld just on it too. Laveranues Coles-WR- Jets Mar. 1 - 9:19 pm et The Bills want to get free agent Laveranues Coles signed "badly," according to the Newark Star-Ledger. Buffalo may wait for T.J. Houshmandzadeh to set the market before making Coles a offer. The Bills already let Coles leave their facility without a contract and don't have strong competition, so they can't want him that bad. Source: Newark Star-Ledger
