Pilot dies during Continental flight
Steely Dan replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I just want to tell you both good luck. We're all counting on you. Good thing it wasn't a single engine Cessna that could've crashed into the flight deck of a 747. Randy: Can I get you something? Second Jive Dude: 'S'mofo butter layin' me to da' BONE! Jackin' me up... tight me! Randy: I'm sorry, I don't understand. First Jive Dude: Cutty say 'e can't HANG! Jive Lady: Oh stewardess! I speak jive. Randy: Oh, good. Jive Lady: He said that he's in great pain and he wants to know if you can help him. Randy: All right. Would you tell him to just relax and I'll be back as soon as I can with some medicine? Jive Lady: Jus' hang loose, blood. She gonna catch ya up on da' rebound on da' med side. Second Jive Dude: What it is, big mama? My mama no raise no dummies. I dug her rap! Jive Lady: Cut me some slack, Jack! Chump don' want no help, chump don't GET da' help! First Jive Dude: Say 'e can't hang, say seven up! Jive Lady: Jive ass dude don't got no brains anyhow! Hmmph! -
You'd think after the first one he'd have learned.

I guess his license suspension is in all states; Linky No state may issue a driver license if there is an active suspension or revocation in another state. License suspension and revocation information is shared with all 50 states. If your driving privilege is suspended or revoked in another state, you must follow that state's reinstatement procedures prior to obtaining a Nevada driver license. See Links to All 50 State DMV's. That is a lot worse than I thought, but still easy to avoid since if he pays attention enough to not get caught a cop most likely won't pull him over. I wonder what the penalty would be if he is caught?

Nine Bills Who Could Have A "Breakout" Season
Steely Dan replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
1. Trent Edwards - I agree. I think he'll put it all together this year. The only question is can he survive until the O-Line gels? 2. Steve Johnson - I agree. I can see him moving ahead of Reed on the depth chart. 3. Marshawn Lynch - Not sure. He hasn't been that bad in the past so what does a "breakout" season mean for him? A three game rest might be good for him if the Bills make the playoffs. 4. John McCargo - I'll run nude across The Ralph's field if he moves to number one on the depth chart next to Stroud and plays above average.(If you saw me you might actually want him to fail. ) 5. Derek Fine - Not sure. He didn't show enough to me last year to consider him having a breakout year. 6. Fred Jackson - I think he'll be a lot better but he won't supplant Lynch on the depth chart after the fourth game. 7. Leodis McKelvin - I agree. He was brought along perfectly last year, IMO. So I think he'll get better and better as the season progresses. 8. Reggie Corner - Will be the nickel back and will become the starter next year if McGee prices himself out of Buffalo. 9. Demetrius Bell - Not sure. I'd love to see Bell break out. If he could start the season at LT then the Bills would have a great young line. It is kind of scary to see all of the new talent on the line but I'd rather they stick to one lineup to give them all time working together. I doubt he'll be starting LT this year because that many rookies on the OL may be a little too much. JMO Am I missing something about how that affects Moorman? Agreed. -

Cold front coming through on Saturday

BRRR And my central air, which is made by BMW, is colder than yours. (In my best old Florida resident) It's not the heat, it's the humidity. Ohhhhhhhh, the HUMIDITY!!! -
It sounds, to me, like your saying that somebody can murder a person and if they pay the family enough they can get away with it. The crime and payment are two totally different things. OJ was acquitted and still had to pay a large civil suit. If he had been convicted the civil suit would still have happened. You have to give him credit for obeying the law? I guess every time I'm pulled over for speeding the cop should just say; "You know what. You pulled over instead of running, forget the ticket." I sounds, to me, that you're saying because a lot of people have gotten away with it he should be lightly punished?! If a person burglarizes a house he should get a light sentence because a lot of people have burglarized houses and gotten away with it? Because rich people get better representation due to their money is ok with you? It isn't to me. Roger Cossack says that he believes that since the family was ok with it then he was ok with it. Again, by paying off the family he got lighter justice. It seems, to me, that you agree that justice should be for sale. Stallworth also reached a confidential financial settlement to avoid a potential lawsuit from the family of 59-year-old Mario Reyes, according to Stallworth's attorney, Christopher Lyons. Reyes was struck and killed March 14 by Stallworth, who was driving his black 2005 Bentley after a night drinking at a swanky hotel bar. It was only, as Raimus points out, to stop a long civil suit. I don't give a crap if they wanted him to get two tickets to paradise. Their opinion matters little to me. The law is the law no matter what. Like some other people here it seems, to me, that you feel justice should be for sale. If it happened to the vast majority of people here they wouldn't have more than $5 million to shell out and therefore couldn't afford to lighten their sentences. Linky Per the Herald, the deal calls for a “short jail stay,” and the Reyes family pushed for a quick resolution of the case. This implies to us that Stallworth will indeed plead to DUI charges only — and that the Reyes family likely will be receiving a very sizable payment from Stallworth’s insurance company, and from Stallworth himself, in settlement of the “wrongful death” civil action. Your reading comprehension is beginning to annoy me. Look at the quote above from that article. Question: If the family settled and then kicked back money to the DA in order for DS to get a reduced sentence would that be ok?

Who's the Boss? Linky Boss Bailey-LB- Broncos Jun. 17 - 12:36 pm et Broncos released LB Boss Bailey. Despite his offseason microfracture knee surgery, Bailey was thought to be guaranteed a spot after receiving a March roster bonus. The Broncos, flush with linebacker depth after moving to a 3-4 scheme, no longer had room to carry Champ's injury-prone brother. Bailey is not yet recovered enough to practice and admitted he "still has some work to do" to get ready to play with another team. Source: National Football Post

You Have To See This To Believe This!! Amazing
Steely Dan replied to Steely Dan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
George really didn't mind. According to one story I read both guys and their wives were at a party and Clapton told George he loved Patti and George said "Take her as long as I get (whatever Clapton's wife was named)". Patti was son incensed she left that day. (Just a rumor in one of the books I've read) -

JIA, I agree with you. That's an interesting article. Her six months was given for the guy hitting her! She was turning into her driveway and he must have been too close and drunk and hit her car. IMO, that's much different than the Stallworth deal. If the sentences had been reversed I would understand it a lot more but I really don't think anything she was on contributed to the crash. Thanks for posting that. Surprise, surprise justice can be bought in America. If you're rich enough you can get away with murder.

Is it unsportsmanlike to change who you root for?
Steely Dan replied to The_Real's topic in Off the Wall Archives
If BB adopted a pitchers clock and not letting the batter back out of the box it would be a much more interesting sport. Right now all I hear if I tune into a ball game is... Well, jack last night I took my family to dinner..., strike one on the player, ...and my granddaughter, she's only five, so she takes the straw from her drink and starts making bubbling..., strike two, the player has had a lot of trouble this year with the curve ball. I spoke to the manager and he said..., it's a baseline hit opposing player grabs the ball and it's out number two for team. .... that they've been working with the player on that and he's trying to find a better placement of the bat, ...so my granddaughter takes the straw and starts blowing bubbles in her soup. You should have seen it it was the cutest thing. Player 2 is up to bat and he swings and it's back to the wall and opposing player grabs it for out number three. We'll be back after these messages. -
Naw, eetz fonny!! 1200

Do you have a link for that? Just to let you know it's JUNE the team hasn't started TC, hasn't played a single down against another team, is being reviewed by someone Lori thinks wasn't even there and has gotten good reviews from people who've seen him. As GOBILLS78 pointed out he probably wont see 10 snaps a game and that's if he's average. Mario Williams had 4.5 sacks his first year. Even if Maybin is sub par this year it means nothing. The only guy I've jumped on during his first year is Chris Ellis and he was abysmal. He had only three tackles last year. Good lord I hope he proves me wrong this year but criminy jacobs he's been disappointing. If Maybin has a year like that I might be inclined to believe he may bust. Since most rookies hit the wall later in the season Jauron may limit his play all year. It's also better to bring rookies along slowly, in most cases. Save the doom and gloom until after this season.

Letterman: What happened to him?
Steely Dan replied to Talonz's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Winner, winner chicken dinner! Gov. Palin announced over the weekend that her 17-year-old unmarried daughter is five months pregnant. And you thought John Edwards was in trouble before! Now he has really done it. -- "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno," 9/2/08 -
The young man’s heart is in a good place. That's really a cool story. I was going to ask if the kids were forced at gunpoint to say they really liked him, but I decided to take the high road.
