  1. PUNCH!!! Robert Rich is worth $1.8 billion. Danny Wegman is not a billionaire yet but both guys can probably put together buyers groups. NFL ownership rules require that a single individual must have total voting and management control of the club. And that person must own at least 30 percent of the team. The Bills are worth approx. $821 million. So the principal owner would have to come up with $246,300,000. I think either one could come up with that number, I may be wrong about Wegman. Buyers groups are pretty common for an owner buying a team from the beginning. The owners can then slowly buy out the other owners. Robert Rich is still a definite possibility. IIRC, he's expressed interest in the team before.
  2. I have not seen anyone rumored to be the money man for Kelly's bid to keep the team in Western New York. Here's what Kelly said, approx. two years ago about putting together the buyers group and the Toronto games. I apologize but I can't get the link to work so here's what it says; Jim Kelly Discusses Plans To Buy Buffalo Bills Bills News and Notes WKBW: Jim Kelly talked openly tonight about his goal of buying the Buffalo Bills football franchise from current owner Ralph Wilson. He tried to calm fears expressed by some Western New Yorkers, that the Bills will be sold and move out of Buffalo once Wilson passes away. Kelly says Wilson is committed to keeping the Bills in Buffalo, and he is working on a plan to make that happen. Jim Kelly is banking on big bucks to buy the Buffalo Bills and he's quarterbacking a team of investors to make it happen. Kelly said, "Trust me, there's a lot of people that have that kind of money. I don't. But I know the people who do. The thing is, I can't name names right now. I won't do it." The franchise is estimated at over $800 million. Another former Bills quarterback, and former county executive, Ed Rutkowski said, "I think the Buffalo Bills will be here forever. I think the plans to play a game in Canada next season, makes sense, to bring to brand name into Toronto." Kelly agreed with that statement, saying extending the Bills fan base is only a good thing for the team and Western New York. "When you see that we are having games in Canada, that's a great thing, bringing people from Canada down to Buffalo. But I don't think there's anything more to it than that." My money is on one of three players. Danny Wegman, Tom Golisano, Robert Rich. Jim Kelly is an incredible guy. For someone who cried when he was drafted by Buffalo and went to the USFL to avoid having to play for them is now desperately doing anything he possibly can to keep the franchise here. If you would have told him that when he was drafted I wonder what he would've said? In his book he mentions how he landed in Buffalo and was being taken to the stadium and he expected the city to hate him for what he had done in trying to avoid them. When he saw the people lined up along the way with cheering and signs welcoming him it was the beginning of his embracing the city so much. The people of Buffalo love their team and embrace the players. It's like no other NFL city. Green Bay may be the only other small market team with such fan enthusiasm. The bottom part of this article is obviously written by a (In my best Oscar LeRoy) jackass but this part I think shows that TO should be warming up to the city so far. Judging by the reception Owens got at the local airport last night, you'd think he was the biggest thing to hit The Nickel City since hot wings. There were cheerleaders, autograph seekers, even a guy dressed as a box of popcorn—all there in the middle of the night to see the greatest show on Earth wait in baggage claim. Is Upstate New York that desperate for entertainment?
  3. I don't think so and I don't think so either. I have the hardest time not saying Tony Soprano instead of Sparanos too. To get better I leave off the Tony part, it makes it easier. Police Squad one of the best TV shows and definitely the best TV show to be canceled waaaaaayyyy too early.
  4. Sauce for the goose Lana, sauce for the goose.
  5. I think TO is the right man at the right time for these Bills players. TO is a vocal leader, hard worker and sometimes volatile but he backs it all up with production on the field. I think these kids can learn a lot from TO this year and hopefully will continue to draw from his leadership even after he's gone. TE can wait a year to start making his role as a leader bigger. They already sent us an offensive lineman/receiver. TO's presence on the field is the best thing for the O line. TE has a quick release and with all of the options he'll have; TO, Evans, Reed, Johnson, Hardy, Fine, Freddy, Lynch and Roscoe blitzing should be kept to a minimum. They won't be able to stack the line on running plays either. IMO, his presence is far greater than just his abilities as a receiver. My favorite part of the article; “A lot of our players thought the world of Terrell – they still do. They loved the way he prepared and how hard he played, and everybody respected his skills and what he’d done in the league. And with him here, I think he was always going to carry that kind of weight.” I don't think that's an indictment of Romo's leadership skills as much as it is a indication of how great TO's leadership skills are. It sounds to me like Romo couldn't take the leadership role from Owens but now that TO's gone it's his role to grow into. JMO
  6. Yeah, 14 sacks sucks. The second best DE in Bills history sucks.
  7. Oh well, then he must have been great because all of the Bills QB's since then have sucked. A crap sandwich with cheese is much better than a crap sandwich.
  8. OMG, Deerball wrote a post I exactly agree with. I'm gonna get a cold compress and lie down. Sumpin's wrong wit me lody, lody sumpin's wrong!! Right on dude! Flutie worshipers are a big reason a lot of people don't like Flutie. Also, is it RJ or Flutie who wears a SB ring? It had little to do with salary and a lot more about perceived talent. They never would have paid him that if they didn't think he'd be great. So they played him because they wanted him to get playing time and gain experience that's why. No grand conspiracy there. BTW, if RJ had 30 more pounds on him he would have been a lot better. I remember seeing him in training camp for the first time and he was a skinny pole. It's no wonder he was injured all the time. If Flutie was as good as he thought he was and as good as his fans think he was he'd the greatest QB in the world has ever seen or ever would see and he'd be President of the world. Flutie was a tremendous QB and one of the all time best QB's, in Canadian Football history. 'Nuff said.
  9. A day of TSW without Deerball!
  10. What he said. OT, but how in God's name does a new HC come into a situation with a pro-bowl QB and blow it sooooooo bad that he has to trade him away. Why in God's name would you go after another QB at all? If Josh McDaniels is still the Broncos coach in two years I'll be extremely surprised. IMO, this would be like Marv Levy coming in and trying to get another QB to play instead of Kelly! McDaniels is definitely tard material. Screwing things up so much that he had to trade a pro-bowl QB, amazing.
  11. -Money in a birthday card from grandma (prior to your 15th birthday). -Getting the Christmas gift you really wanted as a kid. -You're first love. -The last time you had sex. -The first time you had sex. I'm sure both of those are the same for a lot of people here. -A Bills game win over any division opponent or a win in general. -Getting buzzed and listening to Floyd.
  12. Article on Schobel. "I still feel it, but once I start running, it doesn't bother me," Schobel said. "I think it's going to nag me, but as far as affecting the way I play, I won't feel it." Schobel said he's learned how to play with the discomfort because he has scar tissue in his right foot from an injury he experienced four years ago. "I feel I've still got the speed I've always had and the quickness I've had," Schobel said. "The only thing that feels different for me from three, four years ago, is that it takes a little longer to get loose. But once I'm loose, I'm the same as always."
  13. BTW, the writer of the article has a glaring error in his piece. Levy quickly began to clean house. After purging the roster, the Bills turned to the ideals that made them a power-house for so many years. The team began to build their roster primarily through the draft. Young talent like Trent Edwards, Marshawn Lynch, Donte Whitner, Paul Posluzny, Terrence McGee and Fred Jackson all got their start in Buffalo. In fact, some fans with short term memories may be surprised to learn that only eight players remain from the Donahoe era (Moorman, Lindell, Schobel, Kelsay, Denney, Evans, Parrish and Reed) and several of them could be gone before the season starts. Essentially, the entire roster has been flipped in only three short years! He seems to think McGee is a Levy pick when in fact he was a Done a ho' pick.
  14. I've been an ardent Jauron supporter up until last year. Starting the season 5-1 and then ending up with a 7-9 record which included a loss to SF, at home, is inexcusable in my book. I like Jauron a lot but I wouldn't have been upset if he had been fired last year. However, I have no say in whether he stays or goes and I'm certainly not going to root against him so I'm hoping he finally puts it all together this year. If he can get the team a 10-6 record out of the AFCE then I'll ardently support him for 2010. In 2006 Levy purged the roster and Jauron went 7-9. In 2007 the Bills had more talent and Jauron went 7-9. In 2008 the Bills had the most talent he's ever had and the Bills went 7-9. Part of that is due to better coaches coming into the division but that shouldn't matter. If Sparano can take a 1-15 team to 11-5 Jaruon should at least have hit 9-7 once in three years. This is his defining year. We shall see what we shall see.
  15. It wasn't a joke about raping an 18 year old it was a joke about the 18 year old being a floozy, which she is.
  16. I just fixed myself a bowl of ice cream and on the cover under the picture of the ice cream it says; "Enlarged to show texture". I can't even imagine the idiocy that made them have to do that.
