Dean -- thanks for a very informative post. Your position is based on market rates, I'm sure. So does that mean that other cable providers are paying per sub, per month charges for local, over the air stations around the country? Is DirectTV? Dish? This is a very interesting topic. For the record, I blame both sides as LIN took the aggressive position of yanking the signals during negotiations thinking, I'm sure, that the hue and cry from the great unwashed would force TWC to settle. Instead, CBS programming (at least for me) is becoming a distant memory. If it wasn't for the Bills games, I wouldn't care a lick about this dispute.

Good topic and an outstanding performance by Fergy. But the real killer is that we win that game if Charley Romes doesn't drop a sure interception that Fouts put right in his gut on the play before the winning TD pass. That was my first real taste of of feeling our Buffalo teams being snakebit. The play I am speaking of is at 7:30 of the video here.

Thanks for posting that. Wholly different tone in the letter than portrayed in the article originally linked, at least the way I read it.

I think I understand perfectly. Of course it's good advice. The difference I think is you are taking his words of wisdom at face value, I don't. If his point was to simplify his life and lower his stress level, I don't think a public letter to all the "idiots" he fleeced along the way would be necessary. He should just have walked away quietly with his spoils, IMO. I doubt even he batted 1.000 in his career. Sounds like a typical pompous d-bag to me, much like the ones he criticizes in his letter.

In an industry full of a**holes, he was one of them. Personally, I love when people point fingers at a system that benefited them on their way out, it's very becoming.

Well, just got in from a night at the Lafayette Tap Room and there were at least 30-40 Verizon trucks at the Hampton Inn in West Seneca and I can only assume they are from out of town to handle the multitudes switching to FIOS because of this debacle. If TWC is not losing customers hand over fist yet, they soon will be if they don't reach an agreement. People can't take direct retribution against LIN but they sure can against TWC, and it looks like they are.

Nice post. Agree 100%. I might place a little more blame to LIN than TWC since they are taking the hardline and using the Bills game as the biggest bargaining chip but there is more than enough blame to go around. All I know is the good folks in WNY are getting used and I am majorly p*ssed about it.
